37:1  By those lined up in rows.

37:2  And those holding back.

37:3  And those reciting the reminder.

37:4  Your god is indeed one.

37:5  The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them and the Lord of the sunrises.

37:6  We have adorned the heaven of this world with the adornment of stars.

37:7  And a protection against every rebellious devil.

37:8  They cannot listen to the highest counsel and are pelted from every side.

37:9  Chased away, and theirs is a lasting punishment.

37:10  Except for one who tries to do so by stealth, then a bright shooting star pursues him.

37:11  So ask them, are they stronger in creation or whom else We created, for We created them from sticky clay.

37:12  Yet you are amazed and they make fun.

37:13  And when they are reminded they do not remember.

37:14  And when they see a sign they belittle it.

37:15  And say: this is only plain magic.

37:16  When we have died and are dust and bones, are we going to be raised again?

37:17  Or our forefathers?

37:18  Say: yes, and you will be submissive.

37:19  For it will be a single shout and they will see.

37:20  And they will say: woe to us, this is the day of repayment.

37:21  This is the day of division which you used to deny.

37:22  Gather the wrongdoers and their partners and all that they served,

37:23  Besides Allah, and guide them to the path of hell-fire.

37:24  And arrest them, for they will be questioned.

37:25  What is the matter with you that you don´t help each other?

37:26  But today they have surrendered.

37:27  And some of them approach others, asking each other,

37:28  Saying: you came to us (claiming to be) from the right.

37:29  They say: but you were not believers.

37:30  And we had no authority over you, but you were transgressing people.

37:31  So the word of our Lord came to pass for us that we had to taste it.

37:32  And we led you astray for we were astray.

37:33  So today they will share in the punishment.

37:34  For this is how We deal with the sinners.

37:35  When they are told that there is no god but Allah they are arrogant.

37:36  And they say: are we going to abandon our gods for a possessed poet?

37:37  But he brought the truth and the messengers were right.

37:38  You will taste the painful punishment.

37:39  And you will only be punished for what you did.

37:40  Except the sincere servants of Allah.

37:41  For them is a known provision.

37:42  Fruit, and they will be honoured.

37:43  In gardens of blessings.

37:44  They will face each other happily.

37:45  They will be waited upon with a cup of flowing beverage.

37:46  White (in colour), delicious to drink.

37:47  With no harmful effect in it nor will they be drained by it.

37:48  And with them will be exclusive women of rare beauty.

37:49  As if they were hidden white pearls.

37:50  Then some of them approach others, asking each other.

37:51  A speaker amongst them says: I had a friend.

37:52  Who said: are you confirming the truth of this?

37:53  That when we have died and are dust and bones, are we going to be judged?

37:54  He says: do you want to take a look?

37:55  Then he looks and sees him in the midst of hell-fire.

37:56  He says: by Allah, he almost ruined me.

37:57  And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I would have been called to account.

37:58  So we will not die?

37:59  Except for our first death, and we will not be punished.

37:60  For this is the ultimate success.

37:61  For the like of this should everybody work.

37:62  Is this a better reward or the tree of Zaqqum?

37:63  For We made it a trial for the wrongdoers.

37:64  It is a tree which grows from the base of hell-fire.

37:65  Its fruit is like the heads of devils.

37:66  Then they will be eating from it and filling their stomachs with it.

37:67  Then they will have a cocktail of boiling water on top of it.

37:68  Then they will be returned to hell-fire.

37:69  For they found their fathers astray.

37:70  Then they eagerly followed into their footsteps.

37:71  And most of the earliest communities before them went astray.

37:72  And We did send warners amongst them.

37:73  So see what the outcome of those warned was like.

37:74  Except the sincere servants of Allah.

37:75  And We previously called Nuh (Noah), and he responded well.

37:76  And We rescued him and his family from the tremendous distress.

37:77  And We made his descendants the survivors.

37:78  And We left him to be remembered by those afterwards.

37:79  Peace be with Nuh (Noah) in all the worlds.

37:80  For this is how We reward those who do good.

37:81  For he is of Our believing servants.

37:82  Then We drowned the others.

37:83  And of his faction is Ibrahim (Abraham).

37:84  When he came to his Lord with a clean heart.

37:85  When he said to his father and his people: what do you serve?

37:86  Do you want invented gods besides Allah?

37:87  So what do you think of the Lord of all worlds?

37:88  Then he took a look at the stars.

37:89  Then he said: I feel sick.

37:90  Then they turned away from him.

37:91  So he turned to their gods and said: don´t you eat?

37:92  What is the matter with you that you don´t speak?

37:93  Then he struck them with his right hand.

37:94  Then they hurried towards him.

37:95  He said: do you serve what you carve yourselves?

37:96  When Allah created you and what you do?

37:97  They said: build a structure for him and throw him into the fire.

37:98  So they wanted to plot against him, but We made them the lowest.

37:99  And he said: I will go towards my Lord, He will guide me.

37:100  My Lord, make me from amongst the righteous.

37:101  Then We gave him good news of a gentle son.

37:102  Then when he was old enough to go out with him, he said, oh my son, I saw in my dream that I should sacrifice you, so see what you think. He said: oh my father, do what you have been commanded, you will find me if Allah pleases of the patient.

37:103  So when they had both submitted and he turned him face down,

37:104  We called him: oh Ibrahim (Abraham)!

37:105  You have already fulfilled the dream; for this is how we reward those who do good.

37:106  For this is the clear test.

37:107  And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice.

37:108  And We left him to be remembered by those afterwards.

37:109  Peace be upon Ibrahim (Abraham).

37:110  This is how We reward those who do good.

37:111  For he is of Our believing servants.

37:112  And We gave him good news of Ishaq (Isaac) as a prophet from amongst the righteous.

37:113  And We blessed him and Ishaq (Isaac), and of their descendants are those who do good and those who clearly wrong themselves.

37:114  And We already favoured Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron).

37:115  And We rescued them and their people from the tremendous distress.

37:116  And We helped them and they were the victorious.

37:117  And We gave them the clarifying book.

37:118  And We guided them on the straight path.

37:119  And We left them to be remembered by those afterwards.

37:120  Peace be upon Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron).

37:121  For this is how We reward those who do good.

37:122  For they are of Our believing servants.

37:123  And Ilyas (Elijah) is one of the messengers.

37:124  When he said to his people: will you not beware (of Allah)?

37:125  Do you call on Baal and abandon the best of creators?

37:126  Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.

37:127  But they denied him, so they will be presented.

37:128  Except the sincere servants of Allah.

37:129  And We left him to be remembered by those afterwards.

37:130  Peace be upon Ilyas (Elijah).

37:131  For this is how We reward those who do good.

37:132  For he is of Our believing servants.

37:133  And Lut (Lot) is one of the messengers.

37:134  When We rescued him and his family altogether.

37:135  Except an old woman who stayed behind.

37:136  Then We destroyed the others.

37:137  And you pass by them in the mornings.

37:138  And at night, so don´t you understand?

37:139  And Yunus (Jonah) is one of the messengers.

37:140  When he ran away to the laden ship.

37:141  Then after drawing lots was defeated.

37:142  Then the fish swallowed him whilst he blamed himself.

37:143  And had he not been of those who glorify (Allah),

37:144  He would have stayed in its belly till the day when they are resurrected.

37:145  Then We flung him into the open whilst he was sick.

37:146  And We grew a marrow plant for him.

37:147  And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or more.

37:148  Then they believed and We gave them provision for a while.

37:149  So ask them: does your Lord have daughters whilst they have sons?

37:150  Or did We create the angels female whilst they were witnesses?

37:151  It is of their inventions that they say:

37:152  Allah has fathered children, and they are lying.

37:153  That he has chosen daughters over sons.

37:154  What is the matter with you, how do you judge?

37:155  Don´t you reflect?

37:156  Or do you have a clear authority?

37:157  Then bring your letter (of authority) if you are truthful.

37:158  And they claimed a relationship between Him and the Jinn, when the Jinn already knew that they will be presented.

37:159  Glorified is Allah above what they make out.

37:160  Except the sincere servants of Allah.

37:161  For you and what you served,

37:162  You will not tempt anyone against Him,

37:163  Except him who enters the hell-fire.

37:164  And each of us has a known place.

37:165  And We are the ones lined up.

37:166  And We are the ones who glorify.

37:167  And they used to say:

37:168  If only we had a reminder from the earlier communities,

37:169  We would have been sincere servants of Allah.

37:170  But they rejected him, so they shall soon know.

37:171  And Our word has gone before regarding Our messengers,

37:172  That they will be helped,

37:173  And that Our forces will be victorious.

37:174  So turn away from them for a while.

37:175  And watch them, for soon they will see.

37:176  Do they hasten Our punishment?

37:177  Then when it comes down on their habitations, bad is the awakening of those who have been warned.

37:178  And turn away from them for a while.

37:179  And watch, for soon they will see.

37:180  Glorified is your Lord, the Lord of Might, above what they make out.

37:181  And peace be upon the messengers.

37:182  And Allah is praised, the Lord of all worlds
