7:1  Alif. La’am. Meem. Sa’ad.
7:2  Irrefutable Book has been sent down to you- let there be no distress in your heart concerning it- so that you may warn thereby, and doses of Enlightenment to those who live a life of Genuine Faith.
7:3  Yield to the Revelation Knowledge of truth which has been sent down to you from your Lord. And do not take others as guardians besides Him. How seldom do you keep this in mind!
7:4  So many towns We destroyed (their inhabitants for their iniquitous deeds). Our retribution came upon them (unexpectedly) by night, or while they were reposing themselves at noon-day.
7:5  Their exclamation, when Our retribution came upon them, was nothing but that they said: "Surely, we have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of our whims.”
7:6  Then verily We shall question those to whom the Message was sent, as well as those by whom We sent it.
7:7  And We shall narrate to them their actions with knowledge, for we have never been absent.
7:8  The weighing on that day is precisely true. As for those whose scale is heavy, they are the ones who will ultimately attain full salvation.
7:9  And as for those whose scale is light, they are the ones who are doomed to eternal perdition because they were unfair to what We have revealed of the Knowledge of truth.
7:10  Verily, We have established you on earth and provided you with a means of livelihood. Little thanks you show.
7:11  Verily it is We Who created you, then shaped you, then said to the Angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam!" So they did prostrate except ‘Iblīs (Satan). He was not among those who prostrated.
7:12  (The Lord) said: "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?" ‘Iblīs’ said: "I am better than him. You created me of fire and him of clay.”
7:13  (The Lord) said: "Now, therefore, get down from here. You have no right to display an arrogant attitude here. Now, therefore, get out! You are indeed of those who are degraded."
7:14  Then ‘Iblīs said: “Reprieve me until the day of their resurrection.”
7:15  (The Lord) said: “Surely you are of those who are given a respite."
7:16  (‘Iblīs) said: “For letting me fall into temptation, I'll certainly lie in wait for them in Your straight path.
7:17  Then I‘ll definitely come upon them from before and behind, from their right and left. You will find the greater part of them ungrateful.”
7:18  (The Lord) said: "Now, get out of here, disgraced and expelled! Whoever of them follows you, I’ll definitely fill Gehenna with you altogether.”
7:19  Then He said: “O’ Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Al- Jannah, and eat from whence you will, but don’t come near this tree lest you both become of those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.”
7:20  But the devil whispered lies into them in order to make manifest to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts. He said: "Your Lord has forbidden you (to eat from) this tree lest you both become Angels or immortals.”
7:21  And he swore to them: “I am truly a sincere adviser to you.”
7:22  So he deceived them into falling into temptation. As soon as they tasted of the tree, their private parts became visible to them. And they both began to cover themselves with the leaves from the Garden. So the Lord God called out to them and said: “Did I not forbid you both (to eat) from that tree and did I not warn you that Satan is your sworn enemy?"
7:23  They said: "Our Lord, we have been unfair ourselves. But If it happens that You do not forgive us and bestow Your Mercy upon us, we will definitely be of those who are doomed to perdition."
7:24  (The Lord) said: "Go down (all of you) as enemies of one another. And you will have on the earth an abode and a provision for a while.”
7:25  He said: "Therein you shall live, and therein you shall die, and from it you shall be brought forth.”
7:26  O’ children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover your nakedness. But the raiment of the Unfeigned Piety is far better. This is one of Allâh's graceful gifts so that you may take close heed.
7:27  O’ children of Adam! Do not let Satan tempt you as he deceived your parents into being expelled from Al-Jannah, stripping them of their raiment in order to expose their nakedness. Verily, he and his tribe watch you from where you cannot see them. We have made the devils allies of those who have no tendency to live by Faith.
7:28  When they commit a gross sin, they say: "We found our fathers doing it and Allâh has commanded us to do it." Say: "Allâh most certainly does not enjoin indecency. Do you attribute to Allâh that which you do not encompass in knowledge?"
7:29  Say: “My Lord has commanded me to maintain justice.” So set your faces to pray at every place of worship. And call upon Him (alone) with sincere devotion and purity of Faith. Just as He originated you in the beginning, you will be brought to life again.”
7:30  Some He intended to save, whereas others have deserved to go into perdition, Verily, they have taken devils as guardians instead of Allâh, thinking they are on the right path (to salvation)
7:31  O’ children of Adam! Do take your adornment whenever you go to the Mosque. Eat and drink, but avoid reckless extravagance. Indeed, Allâh does not demonstrates His own love for the prodigals.
7:32  Say: “Who has forbidden the adornment of Allâh which He has produced for his servants, and the pure, wholesome means of sustenance?” Say: "These are for the pleasure of those who live by Faith in this worldly life, but they will be exclusively theirs on the Day of Resurrection.” This is how We distinctly explain what We have revealed of the knowledge of truth to a people who have spiritual gift of knowledge.
7:33  Say: “My Lord has only prohibited indecencies, whether committed openly or in secret, and all manner of iniquitous deed and wrongful oppression. And He has forbidden you to associate with Allâh that for which He has never authorized or attribute to Allâh that which you do not encompass in knowledge.
7:34  And every nation has an appointed term. And when its term comes, they can neither delay it for a moment, nor advance it.
7:35  O’ children of Adam! When Messengers of your own race come to recite to you My verses, those who act piously and make amends will have nothing whatsoever to fear, neither shall they grieve.
7:36  But as for those who persistently refuse to acknowledge what We have revealed of the knowledge of truth and display an arrogant attitude towards it, they will be the Denizens of the Hellfire. They will dwell therein forever.
7:37  Who then does greater evil than one who attributes falsehood to Allâh, or persistently refuse to acknowledge what He has revealed of the knowledge of truth? These will continue to receive their full portion written for them in the Preserved Tablet- until, when Our Messengers- (the Angel of death & his assistants)- come to them to take their souls; saying: "Where are those whom you used to implore and worship instead of Allah?" They will reply: "They have gone away from us. So they will bear witness against their own selves that they were spiritually dead and blind.
7:38  (The Lord God) will say: “Now enter you in the company of (the impious) nations which have preceded you, of jinn and mankind, into the Fire." Every time a nation enter, it curses its sister, until, they will all have successively entered therein. The last of them will say to the first of them: "Our Lord, these are the ones who deceived us. Now, therefore, let them have a double punishment of the Fire. He will say: "Everyone will have a double punishment but you have no knowledge of it."
7:39  Then, the first will say to the last of them: "You have no preference over us, so taste the chastisement for that which you used to earn."
7:40  Verily, those who persistently refuse to acknowledge what We have revealed of the knowledge of truth and display an arrogant attitude towards it, the gates of heaven will not be opened for them, nor will they enter into Al- Jannah, until the thick rope goes through the eye of the needle. And this how We will requite the Ungodly Sinners.
7:41  Gehenna will be their cradle, and over them will be coverings of Fire. And this how We will requite those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
7:42  But as for those who Live by Faith and strive to do righteous acts - We do not burden any human person beyond his scope - they are the Denizens of Al-Jannah. And therein they dwell forever.
7:43  We will remove all grudges from their breasts. Rivers will flow beneath them. And they will say: “All the praise is due to Allâh, who has guided us into this (eternal abode of ecstasy). It would have been (impossible) for us to obtain guidance if Allâh had not guided us. Most surely the Messengers of Our Lord came to us with the Truth." It will be proclaimed to them: "This is Al- Jannah which you have been promised to inherit for what you used to do."
7:44  The Denizens of Al-Jannah will call out to the Denizens of the Hellfire, (saying): "We have indeed found that which our Lord had promised us to be true. Have you also found that which your Lord had promised you to be true?" They will reply: "Yes Indeed.” Then a crier will proclaim between them, “The curse of Allâh will be abide in those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.”
7:45  Who hinder (the people) from the way of Allâh, seek to render it crooked, and persistently refuse to acknowledge the existence of Hereafter.
7:46  And there will be a barrier (between Al- Jannah & Gehenna). And on the Heights will be men who know all by their appearance. They call out to the Denizens of Al-Jannah: "Peace Be Upon You”: They will have not yet entered Al- Jannah, but earnestly hope so.
7:47  When their eyes are turned towards the Denizens of the Hell, they will say: “O Lord, do not place us among those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.”
7:48  The men who stand upon the heights will call to certain men, whom they know by their marks, (saying): “Of what benefit to you were your extensive properties, and your arrogant attitude (toward the authority of Allâh).”
7:49  Are these whom you had sworn that Allâh would show them no Mercy ? (O’ people of the heights): “Enter Al- Jannah, (you have been delivered from the consequence of your iniquitous deeds)- No fear shall come upon you, nor shall you grieve.”
7:50  The Denizens of the Hell will call out to the Denizens of Al-Jannah, (saying): "Pour some water upon us, or some of the sustenance (of Al- Jannah) of which Allâh has provided for you.” They will say: "Allâh has forbidden both (water and provision) to those who are spiritually dead and blind,”
7:51  Who took their religion as an idle sport and pastime, and whom the worldly life deluded. So We are not concerned about them today as they were not concerned about the meeting of this day of theirs, For they persistently refuse to acknowledge what We have revealed of the knowledge of truth.
7:52  Verily We brought to them Irrefutable Book- (the Qur’ān) -which We have distinctly explained with knowledge - A True Source of Enlightenment and Mercy for a people who live a life of Genuine Faith.
7:53  Do they wait for aught but its final sequel? On the day when its fulfillment comes, those who neglected it before will say: "Verily, the Messengers of Our Lord came to us with (Ultimate) Truth: Shall we therefore have any intercessors, who will intercede on our behalf? Or could we be sent back to the worldly life so that we may do other works different form what we used to do?” Verily, they have lost their own selves, and that which they used to fabricate has fallen away from them.
7:54  Verily, your Lord is Allâh who created the heavens and the earth in six days. Then He ascended the Throne (of the ultimate power & glory). He causes the night to cover the day, which it pursues constantly. He also created the sun, the moon and the stars, which are absolutely subservient to his command. Indeed, His is the creation and the command. Blessed Be Allâh, the Lord of all beings.
7:55  Then Call upon your Lord, humbly and in secret. Surely, He does not demonstrate his own love for those who keep on trespassing (against the law of Allâh).
7:56  And do not spread corruption on the earth after it has been perfectly adjusted. And invoke Him with the apprehension (of His wrath), and with hope (of salvation). Surely the Mercy of Allâh is near to those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.
7:57  He is the One who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (i.e. rain). Till when they bear a laden cloud, which We drive to a dead land, then We cause water to descend thereon Then We bring forth all sorts of fruits therewith. This is how We shall raise up the dead so that you may take close heed.
7:58  The vegetation of a good land comes forth abundantly by the will of its Lord, and that which is bad, brings forth nothing but little with greatest difficulty. This is how We distinctly explain what We have revealed of the knowledge of truth to a people who express their gratitude (to Allâh for His endless blessings).
7:59  Verily, We previously sent Noah (as Our Messenger) to his people. He said: "Worship (& venerate) Allâh. You have no other God than Him. Indeed, I fear for you the doom of a great day!"
7:60  The chieftains of his people said: “We definitely see you living in utter deception.”
7:61  He replied: “O’ my people, I do not have a delusional disorder. I am but a Messenger from the Lord of all beings.
7:62  I (have come to) convey to you the Messages of my Lord, giving you sincere advice. And I know from Allâh what you have no knowledge of it.”
7:63  Then do you wonder that an admonition has come to you from your Lord through a man of your own race in order to warn you so that you may act piously, and that you may be delivered from all the consequences of your iniquitous deeds?”
7:64  But they belied him, so We saved him and those along with him in the ark. And We drowned those who persistently refused to acknowledge what We have revealed of the knowledge of truth. Most certainly they were (spiritually) blind people.
7:65  To (the people of) ‘Ād' We sent their brother Hūd. He said: "O’ my people worship (& venerate) Allâh. You have no other god beside Him. Will you not then act piously (towards Allâh)?”
7:66  The chieftains of his people, who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth, said: “Indeed, we presume that you are guided by gross imbecility. And we definitely come to believe that you are of those who invent lies.”
7:67  He replied: “O’ my people, I am not guided by such gross imbecility. I am but a Messenger to you from the Lord of all the beings.
7:68  I was sent (by Him) to convey (& preach) to you the Messages of my Lord and I am a faithful counselor to you, (giving you good advice on how to obtain eternal salvation).
7:69  Then do you wonder that an admonition has come to you from your Lord through a man of your own race in order to warn you? Remember when He has appointed you successors to the people of Noah, and increased you in stature extensively. So recall the blessings of Allâh so that you may achieve eternal salvation.”
7:70  They said: "Have you come to us (with an idea) to worship Allâh (alone), and to renounce what our fathers worshiped? So bring us that wherewith you have threatened us if you speak the truth.”
7:71  (Hūd) replied: "Filth and exasperation have already fallen on you from your Lord. Do you dispute with me regrading names which you have named- you and forefathers, with no authority from Allâh? Then wait, I shall be with you waiting."
7:72  So We saved him and those along with him by Our Mercy. And We cut off the uttermost part of those who persistently refused to acknowledge what We have revealed of the Knowledge of truth, and who had no tendcey to live by Faith.
7:73  To (the people of) Thamūd, We sent their brother Sālih. He said: "O’ my people worship (& venerate) Allâh (alone). You have no other god beside Him. Verily, the Decisive Sign has come to you from your Lord. This she-camel of Allâh is a Sign to you, so leave her freely to graze in the land of Allâh and do not harm her, lest a painful doom would befall you.
7:74  And remember when He has appointed you successors after (the people of) ‘Ād', and given you a habitation on the earth. You build for yourselves mansions in plains, and hew out houses in the mountains. So recall (the endless) blessings of Allâh, and do not act wickedly by spreading corruption on the earth.”
7:75  The chieftains of his people, who display an arrogant attitude, said to those whom they scorned- to those who live by Faith: “Do you really know that Sālih has been sent from his Lord?” They replied: “We certainly believe in that wherewith he has been sent.”
7:76  Those who display an arrogant attitude said: “Verily, we pledge not to give credence to the belief which you embrace.”
7:77  So they cruelly hamstrung the she-camel and insolently defied the commandment of their Lord, and said: "O’ Sālih, bring us that with which you have threatened us if you are indeed one of the Messengers of Allâh.”
7:78  So the earthquake seized them, and they were rendered lifeless in their homes.
7:79  And he walked away from them and said: "I conveyed to you, my people, the Message of my Lord, and gave you sincere advice. But you had no love for those who seek to give good counsel."
7:80  And (Mention) Lot, when he said to his people: “How can you commit such disgraceful immoral acts as none in all the worlds ever ventured to commit before you?
7:81  Indeed you approach men in lust instead of women. The fact is that you are a people who commit excesses.”
7:82  But their response was naught except that they said: "Drive them out of our town. Surely they are a people who seek to keep themselves pure.”
7:83  So We saved him and his family except for his (iniquitous) wife. She was one of those who stayed behind.
7:84  We dropped large hailstones upon them from the sky. Now, therefore, look and see how dreadful was the end of the Ungodly Sinners.
7:85  And, We sent to (the people of) Midian their brother Shu‘ayb. He said: "O’ my people, worship (& venerate) Allâh Alone. You have no other god beside Him. Verily, a Decisive Sign has come to you from your Lord. So give full measure, do not underestimate (the value of) the property of the people or spread corruption on the earth after it has been perfectly adjusted. This will be far better for you if you truly live a life of Genuine Faith.
7:86  Lurk not on every road, threatening, averting from the way of Allâh those who have Faith in Him, and seeking to make it crooked. Remember when you were few, and He multiplied you.” Behold, how (dreadful) was the end of those who spread corruption.
7:87  And if there is a party among you who believes in that wherewith I have been sent, and others who do not believe, then cling to patience until Allâh judges between us. He is the perfect judge.
7:88  The chieftains of his people who display an arrogant attitude said: "We shall definitely drive you out, O’ Shuʿayb, and those who follow your Faith from our town, unless you will return to our creed." He said: “What! Even though we loathe it!
7:89  If it happens that we return to your creed after Allâh has saved us, then we will definitely confess that we have attributed falsehood to Allâh. It is not incumbent on us to return thereto except that Allâh, our Lord, should so will. Our Lord comprehends all things in His Knowledge. We depend on Allâh with full trust. So, Our Lord, decide between our people and us with truth, for You are the best of those who make decision.”
7:90  The chieftains of his people who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth said to their own people: “If it happens that you follow Shuʿayb, then you definitely be in the grip of perdition."
7:91  So the earthquake seized them, and they were rendered lifeless in their homes.
7:92  Those who called Shu’ayb a lair (were rendered lifeless) as if they had never lived there. Those who called Shu'aib a liar were doomed to perdition.
7:93  And he walked away from them and said: "I conveyed to you, my people, the Message of my Lord, and gave you sincere advice: How can I then grieve for those who were spiritually dead and blind?”
7:94  Never did We send a Prophet to any town but We did afflict its people with adversity and hardship so that they may humble themselves.
7:95  Then We changed their tribulation into prosperity, until they grew affluent and began to say: “Our fathers (too) had been touched by adversity and prosperity.” So We seized them quickly and unexpectedly while they were not aware of (the perils of arrogance & spiritual darkness).
7:96  If only the people of those towns had lived by Faith and acted piously, We would have definitely opened for them (contentious) blessings from the heavens and the earth, but they belied (the Messengers). So We seized them for what they used to earn.
7:97  Did the people of those towns then feel secure against the coming of Our retribution by night while they are asleep?
7:98  Or did the people of those towns then feel secure against the coming of Our retribution in the forenoon while they play?
7:99  Did they think they were secure against the plan of Allâh? No one feels secure from the plan of Allâh except those who are doomed to perish.
7:100  Has it, then, not become apparent to those who inherit the earth after its inhabitants that if We will, We can easily punish them for the iniquitous deeds and set a seal upon their hearts, so that they do not hear?
7:101  These towns - We relate to you some of their stories. the Messengers (of Allâh) came to them with Decisive Signs, but they were not inclined to believe in what they had already rejected before. This is how Allâh has set a seal on the hearts of those who are spiritually dead and blind.
7:102  We did not find in most of them any observance of covenant. Surely We found most of them indulge in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.
7:103  Then, after them, We sent Moses (as Our Messenger) with Our Signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they wrongfully rejected them. Behold, then, how (dreadful) was the fate of those who spread corruption (on earth).
7:104  Moses said: "O’ Pharaoh, I am indeed a Messenger from the Lord of the all the beings.
7:105  It is incumbent on me to say only the truth about Allâh. I have come to you with a Decisive Sign from your Lord. Now, therefore, let the children of Israel go with me.”
7:106  Pharaoh replied: “If you have indeed come with a (miraculous) Sign (from the Lord), then produce it, if you were of the truthful."
7:107  So he cast his staff. Suddenly it turned to veritable serpent.
7:108  And he drew forth his hand (from his armpit after placing it therein), it was glittering white in the eyes of the beholders.
7:109  The chiefs of Pharaoh said: “Indeed! This (man) is certainly an expert magician.
7:110  He seeks to drive you out of your land (by his sorcery). So what do you suggest?"
7:111  They said: "Give him and his brother respite, and (in the meantime) send forth heralds to all cities
7:112  To bring to your presence every expert magician.”
7:113  So the magicians came to Pharaoh and said: "We shall certainly obtain a (big) reward if we become victors, shall we?"
7:114  He said: "Yes indeed. You will then be among the closest senior advisors to me."
7:115  They said: “O’ Moses, either you throw first or we will be the first to throw!"
7:116  Moses replied: “You can throw first.” When they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, struck them with awe and produced a mighty sorcery.
7:117  And We revealed to Moses: "Cast your staff!" At once it swallowed up all what they simulated.
7:118  So the truth was established and whatever they did proved to be vain.
7:119  They were vanquished on the spot, and completely humiliated.
7:120  Verily, the magicians were impelled to fall down prostrate.
7:121  Saying: "We believe in the Lord of all the beings.
7:122  The Lord of Moses and Aaron.”
7:123  (Pharaoh) said: “You have believed in him before I gave you the permission. Surely this is an evil plan which you have planned in the city in order to drive out its inhabitants. But you will soon see the (dire) consequences (of your evil plan).
7:124  I’ll most definitely have your hands and feet cut off alternately, and then I ‘ll definitely have you crucified all together."
7:125  They said: "No harm! Verily, we are bound to return to our Lord.
7:126  You take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, shower us with patience and cause us to die in complete submission."
7:127  And the chiefs among the people of Pharaoh said: "Will you, (O’ Pharaoh), leave Moses and his people to cause corruption in the land, and renounce you and your gods?" He said: "We will kill their male children and preserve their females alive. Surely we can (easily) overpower them."
7:128  Moses said to his people: "Seek help from Allâh and cling to patience. Indeed, the earth belongs unto Allâh. He gives it as a heritage to whomsoever He wills of His servants. And the (happy) outcome is in the favor of the Pious .”
7:129  They said: “We were persecuted before you came to us and even after you came to us.” He said: "It may be that your Lord will cause your enemy to perish and make you successors on the earth so that He may see how you will act."
7:130  We afflicted the clan of Pharaoh with years of draught and scarcity of fruits so that they might be mindful.
7:131  But whenever good befell them, they said: "This is due to us."If evil afflicted them, they would attribute that to evil augury of Moses and those with him. Now, surely, the cause of their misfortune was with Allâh. But most of them don’t posses enough knowledge of the Truth.
7:132  They said to Moses: "No matter what kind of a (miraculous) Sign you may show us in order to cast a spell on us and gain control over us by magic, we are not inclined to believe in you.
7:133  Then We unleashed against them the cataclysm, the locust, the lice, the frogs and the blood. All of these were prominent Signs (of Allâh's power & glory). But they continued to display an arrogant attitude. They were a folk of Ungodly Sinners.
7:134  Every time the requital fell upon them, they said: "O' Moses! Implore and pray for us to your Lord due to that which He has promised to you. If it happens that He removes from us this filth, we will definitely believe you, and will definitely permit the Children of Israel to go with you.”
7:135  But Every time We removed the filth from them for a term which they should attain, lo! They broke their promise.
7:136  So We executed great vengeance upon them and drowned them in the sea because they persistently refused to acknowledge what We have revealed of the knowledge of truth, not paying close attention to them.
7:137  We caused the people who were considered weak to inherit the eastern parts of the land and the western parts thereof, which We blessed. The honorable Word of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because of that which they patiently endured. We completely destroyed what Pharaoh and his people had wrought and what they had built.
7:138  We brought the Children of Israel across the sea, and they came upon a people who were devoted to their idols. They said: "O’ Moses, make for us a god just as they have gods.” He said:“Indeed, you are a people who have no knowledge of (Allâh)!"
7:139  (Moses added): “Surely, all that these people are engaged in will be destroyed, and all that they do will be in vain."
7:140  He said: "Shall I seek for you a god, other than Allâh, when He has preferred you above the peoples?”
7:141  (Remember) when We delivered you from the clan of Pharaoh who afflicted you with dreadful torment, slaughtering your sons and sparing your women. Therein was a great trial for you from your Lord.
7:142  We appointed for Moses thirty nights, and supplemented them with ten. So he completed the whole time appointed by his Lord of forty nights. Moses said to his brother, Aaron: "Take my place among my people during my absence, seek to reconcile between them and do not follow the way of those who indulge in corruption.
7:143  And when Moses came at the time and place appointed by Us, and his Lord spoke to him, he said: “My Lord, show Yourself to me so I may see You.” Allâh replied: "You will not be able to see Me. But look at the mountain! If it happens that it remains firm in its place, then you will see Me." When His Lord manifested His Majestic Glory on the mountain, He made it crumble to dust and Moses fell down unconscious. When he regained full consciousness, he said: "Glory Be To You. I turn to You in repentance. And I am the first of those who believe (in the Absolute Oneness of Allâh, the Lord of all the beings)."
7:144  Allâh said: "O’ Moses, I have chosen you above the people by My Messages and My Word. So take a firm hold to that which I have given you and be of the grateful."
7:145  We inscribed for him in the Tablets all kinds of religious maxims and detailed explanation of all things (which his people needed in their religion). So hold them fast and bid your people to take the better therein. I shall show you the abode of those who indulge in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.
7:146  I shall cause those who display an arrogant attitude without reason on the earth to walk away from My Signs, even if they see all the Signs, they will not believe in them. And if they see the path of integrity, they will not adopt it as their way. But if they see the path of error, they will adopt it as their way. That is because they persistently refuse to acknowledge what We have revealed of the knowledge of truth, not paying close attention to them.
7:147  Those who persistently refuse to acknowledge what We have revealed of the knowledge of truth and the meeting of the Hereafter, their deeds are in vain. Do they expect to be rewarded with anything except for what they used to do?
7:148  After (Moses had left them to meet with his Lord), his people made of their ornaments the image of Calf (for worship), which gave a mooing sound. Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to the (right) path? They took it for worship, and voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
7:149  However, when they repented and saw that they had erred, they said: “If it should happen that our Lord did not show Mercy and deliver us from all the consequences of our iniquitous deeds, then we would be definitely be of those who are doomed to eternal perdition.”
7:150  When Moses returned to his people, furious and disappointed, he said: “Evil is that which you did in my absence. Did you hasten on the judgment of your Lord?" He cast down the Tablets, and seized his brother by the head, dragging him towards himself. Aaron said: “O’ son of my mother, the people surely reckoned me weak; and they were about to kill me. So let not the enemies rejoice over my misery and do not place me with those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
7:151  Moses said: “My Lord, forgive me and my brother, and admit us into Your Mercy, for you are the Most Merciful of those who show Mercy."
7:152  Indeed, those who took the Calf (in worship) will obtain wrath from their Lord and humiliation in this worldly life. This is how We reward those who invent falsehood.
7:153  And those who committed evil deeds then afterward repented and adhere to Faith (can rest assured that) your Lord after all that is indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
7:154  When the anger of Moses subsided, he took up the Tablets, and in their inscription was a True Source of the Enlightenment and Mercy for those who showed honor and reverence for their Lord.
7:155  Moses chose out of his people seventy men for Our Appointment. So when the earthquake overtook them, he said: "My Lord, if it had been Your will, You could have destroyed them long ago, and me as well. Will you destroy us for that which the foolish among us have done? It is only Your trial by which You allow to go astray whom You will, and give Your light to whom You will. So deliver us from all the consequences of our iniquitous deeds, and show Mercy towards us, for You are the Best of those who forgive.
7:156  Ordain for us (that which is) good in this worldly life and the Hereafter. Indeed, we have turned unto you with repentance." (The Lord replied): “I will inflict My chastisement on whom I will. Yet my Mercy encompasses all things. So I will ordain it for those who act piously, (willingly) give the Zakāt and believe in what We have revealed of the knowledge of truth.
7:157  Those who follow the Messenger, the Unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in the Torah and the Gospel which are with them. He enjoins upon them what is good and forbids them what is wrong, makes lawful for them the pure and wholesome things, prohibits for them the evil and removes from them their burdens and shackles that were upon them. So those who believe in him, honor and support him, and follow the light which has been sent down with him, such are the ones who will ultimately achieve a blissful life/ or gain eternal salvation.
7:158  Say: “O’ mankind, indeed, I am a Messenger to all of you from Allâh unto whom belongs the (absolute) sovereignty of the heavens and of the earth. There is no god but Him. He gives life and causes death.” So believe in Allâh and His Messenger, the Unlettered Prophet who believes in Allâh and His Word. So follow him so that you may get the awesome opportunity for receiving salvation.”
7:159  Of the people of Moses, there was a community which guides by truth and establishes justice by it.
7:160  We divided them into twelve tribes, distinct nations. And We revealed to Moses when his people asked him for water, saying: "Strike the rock with your staff. And from it there gushed forth twelve springs. Each tribe knew their drinking place. We caused the clouds to overshadow them, sent down for them manna and quails, and said: "Eat of the pure and wholesome things We have provided for you." They wronged Us not, but it was their own selves that they wronged.
7:161  And (mention) when it was said unto them: "Dwell in this town and eat from it wherever you desire. Say: ‘O Allâh, lighten our burden’, and enter the gate in humility. We shall forgive you your iniquitous deeds.. And most assuredly We shall give increase (the portion of) of those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.”
7:162  But the workers of iniquity among them changed the word that had been told to them. So We sent upon them a plague from the sky because they voluntarily and consciously used to abandon the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
7:163  Ask them (O’ Muhammad) about the town which stood by the sea: how its people were violating the Sabbath- when their fish came to them on their Sabbath day appearing on the surface of the water, but on the day when they did not keep the Sabbath, they did not come to them. So We made a trial of them because they were indulging in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.
7:164  And when a group among them said unto another one: "Why do you admonish people whom Allâh is about to destroy or chastise with a severe chastisement?" They replied: “In order to be absolved from blame before your Lord and that they may act piously.”
7:165  When they forgot all that with which they had been admonished, we rescued those who forbade evil, and We seized those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims with a dreadful punishment because they were they indulging in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.
7:166  When they insolently rebelled against that which they had been forbidden, We said to them: “Be you despicable apes."
7:167  And (remember) when your Lord declared that He would certainly raise against them those who would afflict them with an agonizing punishment till the Day of Resurrection. Swift is the retribution of your Lord, yet most assuredly he is Oft-Forgiving- Most Merciful (to those who live before the face of Allâh).
7:168  We broke them up into different parties on this earth- some were righteous, others were impious. We tried them with good and bad things so that they might revert to righteousness.
7:169  Then there came after them an (evil) posterity who inherited the Scripture. They chose to take the transient things of this wordily life, saying: "We will be forgiven." But if it happened that similar transient things were to come to them again, they would decide to adopt them. Did they not make a covenant to uphold the Scripture, that they would not attribute to Allâh anything except for the truth? Did they not study the Scripture? The abode of the Hereafter is better for those who act piously. Don't you have conscious thoughts at least in this sense?
7:170  Those who hold fast to the Scripture and establish the regular Prayer (can rest assured that) We shall never let the reward of the reformers go to waste.
7:171  And (remember the time) when We shook the mountain over them as though it had been a canopy, and they thought that it was going to fall upon them. We said: "Hold firmly to that which We have given you and remember what is therein so that you may act piously.
7:172  And (mention) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam- out of their loins- their offspring and made them testify regarding themselves. (Allâh asked): “Am I not your Lord?” They said: “Yes! We testify.” Thus, He did lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: “Surely we were not aware of this."
7:173  Or lest you should say: “It was only our forefathers who had associated partners with Allâh (in worship) in the past and we were merely descendants after them. Will you then chastise us for what those who denied the truth did?”
7:174  This is how We distinctly explain Our Revelations so that they may revert to righteousness.
7:175  And relate to them the story of him to whom We vouchsafed Our Signs, but he endeavored to detach them, so Satan followed him up and he became of those who are deceived into going away from the established course.
7:176  Had We willed, We would certainly have exalted him thereby. But he clung to the earth, yielding to his own whims. So his case, therefore, is like the case of a thirsty dog: if you drive it away, it hangs out its tongue, or if you leave it, still hangs out its tongue. Such is the case of the people who persistently refuses to acknowledge what We have revealed of the Knowledge of the Truth. So relate to them the tales so that they may ruminate (on this Glorious Qur’ān).
7:177  Evil is the likeness of the people who who persistently refuses to acknowledge what We have revealed of the Knowledge of the Truth. They are being unfair to their own selves.
7:178  And whomever Allâh enlightens his path is the one who will get this awesome opportunity for receiving salvation.” And Whomsoever He allows to go away from the Truth- such are the ones who are doomed to perdition.
7:179  Verily, We have allocated many men and jinn for Gehenna. They have hearts wherewith they don’t understand (neither do they distinguish the truth from falsehood). They have eyes wherewith they do not see. And they have ears wherewith they do not hear. They are like cattle- they are even more astray. They are the ones who are heedless and spiritually blind.
7:180  Unto Allâh belong the most Honorable Names. So call on Him by these Honorable Names. And leave alone those who act impiously towards his Honorable Names. They will be chastised for what they used to do.
7:181  Of those We have created, there is a community that seeks to guide others with truth and with it they are persistent in their pursuit of justice.
7:182  Those who persistently refuse to acknowledge what We have revealed od the knowledge of the Truth , We will lead them step by step into ruin, whence they cannot expect.
7:183  And I will give them respite. Indeed, My stratagem will prove effectual.
7:184  Do they not reflect? There is no madness in their companion. He is only sent to give sufficient warnings (about how to avoid Hellfire)
7:185  Will they not ponder upon the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, and everything that Allâh has created, and that perhaps their appointed time has already drawn near? Then in what proclamation after this will they come to Faith?
7:186  Whomsoever Allâh allows to go away from the Truth, none can lead him into the right path. And He lets them wander blindly in their transgressions.
7:187  They ask you about the Hour: "When it will come to pass?" Say: "The knowledge thereof is only with my Lord. None can manifest its time but He. Heavy is its burden through the heavens and the earth. It will not come upon you except all of a sudden." They ask you as if you were well-acquainted therewith. Say: "The knowledge thereof is only with Allâh. But most people do not know.”
7:188  Say: “I possess no power to benefit or protect myself, except by the Will of Allâh. If I had the knowledge of (the world) of unseen, I would have abundance of wealth, and adversity would not have touched me. I am sent to deliver a severe warning, and to give glad tidings for for a people who live a life of Genuine Faith.”
7:189  He is the One Who created you from a single person (Adam) and made from him his mate (Eve), in order that he might find comfort in her. When he covers her, she bears a light burden, and then moves about with it. When she grows heavy, they both implore and pray to Allâh, their Lord, saying: “If it happens that you vouchsafe us a righteous child, we will be among the grateful.”
7:190  But when He vouchsafes them a righteous child, they set up associates with Him in return for what He had given them. Allâh is Highly Exalted far above what they associate with Him.
7:191  Do they associate with Him partners that which cannot create a thing, whereas they are themselves created?
7:192  Neither can they help them, nor can they help themselves.
7:193  If it happens that you provide a means for them to get this awesome opportunity for receiving salvation, they will not follow you. It is all the same whether you provide a means for them or you remain silent.
7:194  Those whom you call upon, besides Allâh, are creatures like you. Then call upon them and let them respond to you if you are truthful.
7:195  Do they have feet wherewith they walk? Do they have hands wherewith they hold? Do they Have eyes wherewith they see? Do they have ears wherewith they hear? Say: “Call upon your associate-gods then plot against me and give me no respite.
7:196  Indeed, my Guardian is Allâh who has revealed the Book- (the Glorious Qur’ān). He protects the righteous.
7:197  And those whom you invoke besides Him cannot help you, nor can they help themselves.”
7:198  If it happens that you provide a means for them to get this awesome opportunity for receiving salvation, they are not willing to listen to you. You could see them looking towards you, but they do not see.
7:199  Show forgiveness, enjoin kindness, and shun the ignorant ones.
7:200  And if it happens that an incitement from the devil incites you, then seek refuge in Allâh. Most surely, He is All-Hearer- All-Knowing.
7:201  Verily, those who act piously- whenever any evil suggestion from Satan touches them, they celebrate the praise of (Allâh) and declare His glory. Then behold, they begin to see things clearly.
7:202  But their brethren (the wicked ones) keep on dragging them into error. And they do not relax their vigorous attempts.
7:203  When you do not bring to them a (miraculous) sign, they say: "Why have you not brought it?" Say: "I only follow that which is revealed to me from my Lord. This Qur’ān is spiritual insight from your Lord, a True Source of the Enlightenment and Mercy for a people who live a life of Genuine Faith.
7:204  And When this (Glorious) Qur’ān is recited, listen to It attentively and remain silent so that you may be delivered from all the consequences of your iniquitous deeds.
7:205  Celebrate the praise of your Lord and declare his glory with humility and reverence and in a low voice in the mornings and evenings. And do not be of those whose mind’s eye is blind.
7:206  Surely those who are near to your Lord (the Angels) do not turn away with pride from His worship, but they celebrate His Praise and declare His glory, prostrating themselves before Him.
