8:1  They ask you about the spoils of war. Say: "The spoils are for Allâh and the Messenger." So act piously towards Allâh. Adjust all matters of difference among you. And yield to the (Commandments of) Allâh and (to what He has revealed to) the Messenger if you truly live a life of Genuine Faith.
8:2  The monotheistic believers of unfeigned faith are only they whose hearts tremble with awe whenever Allâh is mentioned, and whose faith is invigorated whenever His (Holy) Verses are recited to them, and who depend on their Lord with full trust.
8:3  They establish the regular Prayer and expend of what We have provided them.
8:4  Those in truth are the monotheistic believers of unfeigned faith. They have exalted grades of rank with their Lord, forgiveness and a bountiful sustenance.
8:5  Just as your Lord caused you to go forth from your home (for the Battle of Badr) in truth, while indeed, a party among the Monotheistic Believers were averse to it.
8:6  They disputed with you concerning the Truth after it has become obvious to the eye as though they were being driven to death with their eyes wide open.
8:7  And (remember) when Allâh gave you the promise that one of the two parties that it should be yours, and you wished that the one unarmed should be yours, but Allâh intended to entrench the Truth by His Word and cut off the root of those who are spiritually dead and blind,
8:8  That He might entrench the Truth and abolish falsehood. No matter how detestable is to the Ungodly Sinners.
8:9  And (recall) when you implored the help of your Lord, and He responded to your invocation (saying): “I will definitely help you with one thousand Angels, rank on rank.
8:10  Allâh made it only as a piece of joyful news so that your hearts would be comforted. Victory comes only by the help of Allâh. Most certainly Allâh is Almighty- All-Wise.
8:11  And (remember) when He covered you with a slumber as a sign of security from Him, sending down water upon you from the sky to purify you, remove the filth of Satan from you, invigorate your hearts and make your feet firm therewith.
8:12  And (remember) when your Lord inspired the Angels (saying): “Verily, I am with you, so make those who live by Faith to stand firm. And I will cast terror into the hearts of those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth . Now, therefore, strike them over the necks and smite over all their fingers and toes."
8:13  That is because they opposed Allâh and His Messenger. Whoever opposes Allâh and His Messenger (will come to know that) Allâh is extremely severe in punishment.
8:14  (That is your punishment). Now, therefore, taste it! And surely for those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth, there is also the punishment of Fire.
8:15  O’ you who Live by Faith! When you see those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth advancing in force, do not turn your backs to them.
8:16  And whosoever turns his back to them on such a day -- unless maneuvering for battle or turning to join another company -- certainly draws upon himself the wrath of Allâh, and his abode is Gehenna-- an evil journey’s end!
8:17  It was not you who killed them, but Allâh did. You did not throw when you did throw, but it was Allâh who did so in order to confer a graceful favor from Himself on those who live by faith. Most certainly, Allâh is All-Hearing- All-Knowing.
8:18  This (is what happened) and most surely Allâh debilitated the machination of those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth.
8:19  (O’ polytheists), if it happens that you ask for a judgment, then judgment has indeed come to you. And If it happens that you refrain (from hostilities towards those who adhere to Absolute Monotheism), then it will be better for you. But if it happens that you revert (to hostilities), We too will revert (to punishment). And your host will avail you nothing how numerous it be. For Allâh is with those who adhere to Absolute Monotheism.
8:20  O’ you who live by Faith! Yield to ( the Commandments of) Allâh and (to what He has revealed to) His Messenger . And do not walk away from him when you hear (him giving you an order).
8:21  And do not be like those who say: "We hear," but they don't discern.
8:22  Surely, the worst creatures, in the sight of Allâh, are the deaf and the dumb, who lack the ability to perceive and understand.
8:23  Had Allâh known any goodness in them, He would definitely have made them hear. Even if He had made them hear, they would have walked away in a repulsive manner.
8:24  O’ you who live by Faith! Respond to Allâh and the Messenger when he calls you to that which will give you life, and know that Allâh intervenes between a person and his heart, and that to Him you shall all be gathered.
8:25  Beware of an affliction which will not smite exclusively the ones of you who have voluntarily and consciously abandon the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims. And know that Allâh is extremely severe in punishment.
8:26  And recall the time, when you were few and oppressed in the land, living in constant fear that men might snatch you away, then He sheltered you, strengthened you with His Help and provided you with pure and wholesome things so that you might be grateful.
8:27  O’ you who Live by Faith! Do not betray Allâh and His Messenger, nor do you betray deliberately your trusts.
8:28  And know that your wealth and children are but a temptation, and that with Allâh is a tremendous reward.
8:29  O’ you who Live by Faith! if you act piously towards Allâh, He will grant you a criterion (to distinguish between right and wrong). And He Himself will deliver you from the consequences of your iniquitous deeds and forgive you. Most certainly Allâh is the Lord of great bounty.
8:30  And (recall) when those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth devised a plot against you in order to confine, kill, or expel you. They planned but Allâh had a different plan for you, for He is the Best of all those who set up plans.
8:31  And when the Qur’ānic Verses are recited to them, they say: "Well, we have heard this (Qur’ān). If we wished, we could definitely say the like of it. This is nothing but mere legends of the ancients."
8:32  And (recall) when the Polytheists said: "O’ Allâh, if this is indeed the truth from You, then send down upon us burning stones from the heavens or inflict on us a painful torment."
8:33  But Allâh would not chastise them as long as you are among them; neither would He chastise them while they are pleading for mercy and forgiveness.
8:34  What pretext have they now that Allâh should not chastise them when they hinder the pilgrims from the Sacred Mosque, and they are not qualified to be its guardians? Only the Pious are its true guardians. But most of them do not know.
8:35  Their prayer at the Sacred House is nothing but whistling and clapping of hands. Now, therefore, taste the chastisement for your persistent and purposeful denial of the Truth.
8:36  Verily, those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth spend their wealth to hinder (people) from the way of Allâh. They will surely continue to expend it, but in the end it will become a source of regret and grief for them. Then they will be defeated. Those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth will be gathered to Gehenna.
8:37  Allâh intends to separate the wicked from the good, put the wicked one upon another, heap them up altogether and cast them into Gehenna. These are the ones who are doomed to perdition.
8:38  Say to those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth, if it happens that they renounce (polytheism), then their past iniquitous and wicked deeds will be forgiven. But if they persist (in spiritual darkness), then the example of the former peoples has already gone before them.
8:39  And (if they persistently refuse to quit their perversion), then fight against them till there is no persecution and all acts of worship are devoted to Allâh alone. If it happens that they renounce (polytheism) and refrain (from hostility toward those who adhere to Absolute Monotheism.), then (they can rest assured that) Allâh is most certainly All-Seer of whatever they do.
8:40  But If they turn back, then (you can rest assured that) Allâh is your Guardian. He is the Most Excellent Guardian and the Most Excellent Helper!
8:41  And know that whatever spoils that you may gain, the fifth of it is for Allâh and the Messenger, his near relatives, the orphans, the poor and the hopeless wayfarer, if you have affirmed your faith in Allâh and in that which We have revealed to our servant on the day of distinction, on the day whereon the two armies met. And Allâh is Most Capable of doing whatsoever He desires.
8:42  And (recall) when you were encamped on the near side of the valley, and they were encamped on the further side, and the caravan was below you. Even if you had made a mutual appointment (to meet in a battle), you would definitely have failed the engagement. However, you were brought to an engagement without any previous appointment so that Allâh might accomplish the thing which was destined to be done, that those who were to be perished would be perished after a clear evidence (of His Power), and those who were to remain alive would remain alive after a clear evidence. Most certainly Allâh is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
8:43  And (recall) when Allâh showed them to you in your dream as few. If He had shown them to you as numerous, you would definitely have become disheartened, and would definitely have disputed concerning the matter. But Allâh preserved you from this. Most certainly He has full knowledge of whatever is stored up in the hearts.
8:44  And so, when you met in the battle, He made them to appear as few in your eyes, and He made you to appear few in their eyes, so that Allâh might accomplish what He had ordained. To Allâh are all affairs returned.
8:45  O’ you who live by Faith! Whenever you encounter a party of (spiritually blind people in the battlefield), take a firm stand against them and commemorate the name of Allâh frequently so that you may be triumphant.
8:46  And yield to (the Commandments of ) Allâh and (to what He has revealed to) His Messenger. And do not dispute among yourselves lest you become disheartened and your strength departs from you. Cling to patience! Most certainly Allâh is with those who cling to patience.
8:47  And do not be like those who (are spiritually dead and blind ) when they went out of their houses in an exulting manner to appear with excessive display to men, and bar others from the way of Allâh while Allâh encompasses in knowledge whatsoever they do.
8:48  And (recall) when Satan made their evil deeds to seem fair to them and said: "No man can overcome you this day, and verily I will be near to help you." But when the two armies came in sight of one another, he turned upon his heels, and said: "Ay, I am clear of you. Ay, I see what you do not see. Ay, I fear (the wrath of) Allâh. For Allâh is extremely severe in punishment."
8:49  And (recall) when those who indulge in hypocrisy, and those in whose hearts is an infirmity, said: "Their Faith has deluded them." So whoever depends on Allâh with full trust (can rest assured that) Allâh is absolutely All-Mighty, All-Wise.
8:50  And if you could see - when the Angels take away the souls of those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth - how they smite their faces and their backs, (saying): "Taste the punishment the blazing Fire!”
8:51  This is because of that which your hands have sent on before you. Most assuredly Allâh would never be unjust to His servants.
8:52  Their state is like that of the clan of Pharaoh and of those before them who persistently refused to Yield to what Allâh had revealed of the Knowledge of the truth. So Allâh had chastised them for their iniquitous and wicked deeds. Most certainly Allâh is All-Strong, and extremely severe in punishment.
8:53  This is because Allâh never changes a grace which He has bestowed on a people until they change what they have in store in their own selves. Most certainly Allâh is All-Hearing- All-Knowing.
8:54  Their state is like that of the clan of Pharaoh and of those before them who persistently refused to acknowledge what their Lord had revealed of the Knowledge of the truth. So We utterly destroyed them for their iniquitous and wicked deeds.. We drowned the clan of Pharaoh. They voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
8:55  The worst creatures, in the sight of Allâh, are those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth because they have no tendency to live by Faith.
8:56  They are the ones with whom you made a covenant, but they break their covenant every time and act impiously (towards Allâh).
8:57  If it happens that you encounter them in battle, then disperse, by making them an example for those who will come after them so that they may be warned.
8:58  If you fear treachery from any of your allies, you may disregard your treaty with them. Most certainly Allâh does not demonstrates His own love for the treacherous.
8:59  Do not Let those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth reckon that they have escaped from the retribution. Surely they will never be able to frustrate the power of Allâh.
8:60  Now, therefore, prepare against them whatever you are capable of power and troops of horse, whereby you may deter the enemies of Allâh and your enemies, as well as other enemies unknown to you but Allâh knows them well. Whatever you spend in the cause of Allâh will be repaid to you, and you will not be treated unfairly.
8:61  But if they are inclined to peace, then incline to it (also), and depend on Allâh with full trust. Indeed, He is All-Hearer -All-Knowing.
8:62  But If they intend to deceive you, (you can rest assured that) Allâh is absolutely All-Sufficient for you. He is the One Who has supported you with His help and with the Monotheistic Believers (of unfeigned faith),
8:63  And united their hearts. If you had spent all the riches in the earth, you could not have united their hearts. But Allâh united them. Indeed, He is Almighty, All-Wise.
8:64  O’ Prophet, Sufficient is Allâh for you and for the Monotheistic Believers who follow you.
8:65  O’ Prophet, urge the Monotheistic Believers to fight. If there are twenty steadfast persons among you, they will overcome two hundred. And if there be a hundred steadfast persons, they will overcome a thousand of those who are spiritually dead and blind because they are a people who have low emotional intelligence.
8:66  (O’ Monotheistic Believers), now has Allâh eased your burden for He already knows that there is weakness in you. So if there are of you a hundred steadfast persons, they will overcome two hundred. And if there be one thousand of you, they will overcome two thousand by the Will of Allâh. And Allâh is with those who cling to patience.
8:67  It is not appropriate for a prophet to take captives unless he has battled strenuously on the land. You may seek the fleeting gains of this worldly life, whereas Allâh desires for you the Hereafter. Lo! Allâh is Almighty, All-Wise.
8:68  Had it not been for a decree from Allâh that had already gone forth, then a tremendous chastisement would have certainly touched you because of all the captives that you took.
8:69  So eat of the lawful good things from that which you have acquired in war, and act piously towards Allâh. Indeed, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving- Most Merciful.
8:70  O’ Prophet, say to those of the captives who are in your hands: "If Allâh would find anything good in your hearts, He will give you a better than what has been taken from you and forgive you. For Allâh is Oft-Forgiving- Most Merciful."
8:71  But if they intend to betray you, then (you will need to know that) they have already betrayed Allâh before. So He has given you the power over them. Lo! Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
8:72  Verily, those who Adhere to Faith, emigrated and strove hard with their wealth and their lives for the cause of Allâh, as well as those who have given the Prophet and his followers a refuge among them, and have supported them, these are all allies to one another. As for those Monotheistic Believers who did not emigrate, you are not responsible for their protection until they emigrate. Yet if they ask assistance of you on account of their Faith, it is incumbent on you to help them except against a people with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance. And Allâh is All- Seer of whatever you do.
8:73  Those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth are allies to one another. Unless you keep these commandments, there will be persecution in the land and great corruption.
8:74  Those who Adhere to Faith, emigrated and strove hard in the cause of Allâh, as well as those who gave the Prophet and his followers a refuge among them, and supported them, such are the believers of the unfeigned faith. They will be granted forgiveness and bountiful provision.
8:75  Those who Adhere to Faith, emigrated and strove hard along with you, these also are of you. The relatives are nearer one to another in ordinance of Allâh. Most assuredly , Allâh has full knowledge of everything.
