7:1  Alif.Lam.Mim.Sad.
7:2  A book revealed to you, so let there be no straitness in your breast from it - that you may warn with it, and a reminder to the believers.
7:3  Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord, and do not follow patrons beside Him; little is what you remember.
7:4  And how many a town have We destroyed, and Our violence came upon it by night, or while they slept at noon;
7:5  And their cry, when Our violence came upon them, was only that they said, 'Indeed, we were unjust.'
7:6  Then surely We will definitely question those to whom it was sent, and surely We will definitely question the messengers.
7:7  And surely We will narrate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent.
7:8  The balance on that day is true, and He whose scales are heavy - then those, they are the prosperous.
7:9  And he whose scales are light - So those are the ones who lose themselves for that they used to wrong Our signs.
7:10  And certainly, We have established you in the earth, and We have made for you in it livelihood. Little is what you give thanks.
7:11  And certainly We created you, then We fashioned you, then We said to the angels, 'Prostrate to Adam,' So they prostrated, except Iblis, he was not of those who prostrated.
7:12  He said, 'What prevented you that you did not prostrate when I commanded you?' He said, 'I am better than him; you created me of fire, and you created him of clay.'
7:13  He said, 'Then go down from it; it is not for you that you be proud in it, so go forth! Indeed, you are of the little ones.'
7:14  He said, 'Respite me to the day they are raised.'
7:15  He said, 'Indeed, you are of the respited.'
7:16  He said, 'For that you have led me into error, surely I will lie in wait for them in your straight path;
7:17  Then I will surely come to them, from before them and from behind them; and from their right and from their left, and you will not find most of them thankful.'
7:18  He said, 'Go forth from it, despised, expelled; certainly, whoever of them follows you, I will surely fill Hell with you all together.
7:19  And, O Adam, dwell you and your wife in the Garden and eat from wherever you will, but do not draw near this tree; then you will be of the unjust.'
7:20  Then the devil whispered to them to display to them what was hidden from them of their shame, and he said, 'Your Lord has only forbidden you this tree lest you should be two angels, or you should become of the immortals.'
7:21  And he swore to them both, 'Indeed, I am for you among the sincere advisers.'
7:22  So he led them astray with deception, and when they tasted the tree, their shame became apparent to them, and they began to stitch upon themselves from the leaves of the garden. And their Lord called to them both, 'Did I not forbid you both from that tree, and say to both of you, indeed, the devil is to you a clear enemy?'
7:23  They said, 'Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves - and if you do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall surely be among the losers.'
7:24  He said, 'Go down, some of you an enemy to some. And for you in the earth there is an abode, and a provision to a time.'
7:25  He said, 'In it you shall live and in it you shall die, and from it you shall be brought forth.'
7:26  O children of Adam! Verily, We have sent down to you garments to cover your shame, and plumage; but the garment of piety, that is better. That is of the signs of God, perhaps they may remember.
7:27  O children of Adam! Let not the devil tempt you as he drove your parents from the garden, stripping from them their garments, to show them their shame; indeed, he sees you - he and his tribe, from where you see them not. Indeed, We have made the devils patrons of those who do not believe.
7:28  And when they do an immorality, they say, 'We found our fathers on it, and God has commanded us with it.' Say, 'Indeed, God does not command immorality; do you say against God what you do not know?'
7:29  Say: 'My Lord has commanded justice: - set steadfastly your faces at every mosque and call on Him, sincere to Him in the religion. As He originated you, shall you return.
7:30  A party He guided, and upon a party was error due; indeed, they took the devils for their patrons besides God, and they think that they are guided.'
7:31  O children of Adam! Take your adornment at every mosque; and eat and drink, but do not be extravagant, indeed, He does not love the extravagant.
7:32  Say, 'Who has prohibited the adornment of God which He brought forth for His servants, and the good things of His providing?' Say, 'On the Day of Resurrection they shall only be for those who believed when in the the worldly life.' Thus do We detail the signs for a people who know.
7:33  Say, 'My Lord has only prohibited immoralities - what is apparent of it and what is concealed, and sin, and insolence without the right, and that you associate with God what He has sent down no authority for, and that you say against God what you do not know.'
7:34  And to every nation a term; so when their term comes they cannot keep it back an hour nor bring it on.
7:35  O children of Adam! If there should come to you messengers amongst you, narrating to you My signs; then whoever fears God and does right, then there is no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.
7:36  But those who say Our signs are lies, and are too big with pride for them, those are the fellows of the fire, they shall dwell in it for ever.
7:37  And who is more unjust than he who forges against God a lie, or says His signs are lies? Those, their portion of the Book shall reach them, until when Our messengers come to take them in death, they say, 'Where is what you used to call upon besides God?' They say, 'They have gone astray from us; and they shall bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.
7:38  He will say, 'Enter - amongst nations who have passed away before you, of jinns and mankind - into the fire.' Whenever a nation enters, it curses its sister; until, when they have reached in it all together, the last of them will say to the first, 'Our Lord! These led us astray, so give them double punishment of the fire.' He will say, 'For each is double but you do not know.'
7:39  And the first of them will say to the last of them, 'Then you have no superiority over us, so taste the punishment for what you used to earn.'
7:40  Indeed, those who say Our signs are lies and are too big with pride for them; the doors of heaven shall not be opened for them, and they shall not enter the garden until the camel shall pass into the needle's eye. And thus We reward the sinners.
7:41  For them is a bed of Hell-fire, and above them coverings. And thus We reward the wrongdoers.
7:42  But those who believe and do good works - We do not task a soul except its capacity - those are the fellows of the garden, they shall dwell in it for ever.
7:43  And We will remove what is in their breasts of ill feeling - there shall flow beneath them rivers, and they shall say, 'Praise be to God who guided us to this. And We would not have been guided had not God guided us. - Certainly, the messengers of our Lord came with truth.' And it shall be cried out to them, 'This is the Garden which you have as an inheritance for what you used to do.'
7:44  And the fellows of the Garden will call out to the fellows of the fire, 'Indeed, We have found what our Lord promised us is true; so have you found what your Lord promised is true?' They will say, 'Yes.' And an announcer amongst them will announce, 'The curse of God is on the unjust,
7:45  Who turn from the way of God and seek to make it crooked, while in the hereafter they are disbelievers.'
7:46  And between them there is a veil, and on al Aaraf are men who know each by their marks; and they shall cry out to the fellows of the Garden, 'Peace be on you.' They enter it not although they hope.
7:47  And when their sight is turned towards the fellows of the fire, they say, 'Our Lord! Do not place us with the unjust people.'
7:48  And the fellows of al Aaraf will cry out to the men whom they know by their marks, saying, 'Of no avail to you were your collections, and what you were so big with pride about;
7:49  Are these the ones who you swore God would not reach them with mercy? Enter the Garden; there is no fear upon you, nor shall you grieve.'
7:50  And the fellows of the fire shall cry out to the fellows of the Garden, 'Pour upon us water, or of what God has provided you.' They will say, 'Indeed, God has prohibited them both to the disbelievers;
7:51  Those who took their religion as a diversion and play; and whom the worldly life deceived.' So today We forget them as they forgot the meeting of this day of theirs, and that they denied Our signs.
7:52  And certainly We have brought them a Book explaining it on knowledge, a guidance and a mercy to a people who believe.
7:53  Do they wait except for its interpretation? - The day its interpretation shall come, those who forgot it before will say, 'Indeed, Our Lord's messengers came with the truth, so are there for us any intercessors so they intercede for us or could we return, so we would do other than that which we did?' Verily, they have lost themselves, and what they were forging has gone astray from them.
7:54  Indeed, your Lord is God who created the heavens and the earth in six days; then He made for the throne. He covers the night with the day - it pursues it incessantly - and the sun and the moon and the stars are subject to His command. Lo, His is the creation and the command, blessed is God, the Lord of the worlds.
7:55  Call on your Lord humbly and secretly, indeed, He does not love the transgressors.
7:56  And do not corruption in the earth after it has been righted; and call on Him with fear and hope; indeed, the mercy of God is near to the good-doers.
7:57  And He is the one who sends forth the winds as glad tidings before His mercy; until when they lift a heavy cloud, We drive it to a dead land, and send down therewith water, and bring forth therewith of all the fruits; thus We bring forth the dead; perhaps you may remember.
7:58  And the good land brings forth its plants by the permission of its Lord; and that which is bad does not bring forth except with difficulty. Thus We turn about the signs for a people who are grateful.
7:59  Certainly We sent Noah to his people, and he said, 'O my people! Serve God, you have no god other than Him; indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a great day.'
7:60  Said the chiefs of his people, 'Indeed, we surely see you in clear error.'
7:61  He said, 'O my people! There is no error in me; but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds.
7:62  I convey to you the messages of my Lord, and I give you sincere advice; and I know from God what you do not know.
7:63  Do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord on a man among you, that he may warn you, and that you may fear? And perhaps you may receive mercy.'
7:64  But they called him liar, So We saved him and those who were with him in the ship. And We drowned those who said Our signs were lies, indeed, they were a blind people.
7:65  And to 'Ad their brother Hud, he said, 'O my people! Serve God, you have no god other than Him; will you not then fear?'
7:66  Said the chiefs of those who disbelieved amongst his people, 'Indeed, we surely see you in foolishness, and indeed, we certainly think you are of the liars.'
7:67  He said, 'O my people! There is no foolishness in me; but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds;
7:68  I convey to you the messages of my Lord; and I am to you a sincere, faithful adviser.
7:69  Do you then wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord on a man among you, that he may warn you? And remember when He made you vicegerents after Noah's people and increased you in length of stature; remember then the benefits of God perhaps you may prosper.'
7:70  They said, 'Have you come to us that we may worship God alone, and leave what our fathers used to worship? Then bring us what you threaten us with, if you are of the truthful.'
7:71  He said, 'Verily, uncleanness and wrath from your Lord have fallen on you; do you wrangle with me about names, which you have named - you and your fathers, for which God sent down no authority; wait then, indeed, I am with you of those who wait.'
7:72  So We saved him and those with him, by mercy from Us, and We cut off the roots of those who said Our signs were lies and were not believers.'
7:73  And to Thamud their brother Salih, He said, 'O my people! Worship God; you have no god other than Him. Certainly, there has come to you a clear proof from your Lord. This is the she-camel of God, a sign for you; leave her then to eat in the earth of God, and do not touch her with evil, so a painful punishment seizes you.
7:74  And remember when He made you vicegerents after 'Ad and settled you in the earth, you take for yourselves castles of its plains and carve out mountains into houses; and remember the benefits of God, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption.'
7:75  Said the chiefs of those who were big with pride among his people to those who were weak, - to those among them who believed, 'Do you know that Salih is sent from his Lord?' They said, 'Indeed, in that with which he has been sent we are believers.'
7:76  Said those who were big with pride, 'Indeed, in that which you believe we are disbelievers.'
7:77  Then they hamstrung the she-camel, and rebelled against the command of their Lord and said, 'O Salih! Bring us what you threatened us with, if you are of the messengers.'
7:78  Then the earthquake took them, and in the morning they lay prone in their dwellings;
7:79  And he turned away from them and said, 'O my people! Verily, I conveyed to you the message of my Lord, and I advised you sincerely; but you do not love sincere advisers.'
7:80  And Lot, when he said to his people, 'Do you approach the immorality which no one of the worlds has preceded you in?
7:81  Indeed, you approach men lustfully instead of women - nay, you are a people who exceed.'
7:82  And the answer of his people was only that they said, 'Drive them out of your town. Indeed, they are people who keep pure.'
7:83  So We saved him and his people, except his wife, she was of those who remained behind;
7:84  And We rained upon them a rain; - so see how was the end of the sinners.
7:85  And to Midian their brother Shuaib, he said, 'O my people! Serve God, you have no god other than Him. Certainly, there has come to you a clear proof from your Lord; so fulfil the measure and weight, and do not diminish to the people their things, and do not corruption in the earth after it has been righted. That is better for you if you are believers;
7:86  And do not sit in every path, threatening and turning from the path of God those who believe in Him, and seeking to make it crooked. And remember when you were few and He multiplied you; and see how was the end of the corrupters.
7:87  And if there is a party of you who believe in that which I am sent with, and a party who do not believe, then be patient until God judges between us, and He is the best of the wise ones.'
7:88  Said the chiefs of those who were big with pride amongst his people, 'We will surely drive you out, O Shuaib! And those who believe with you, from our town; or you shall return to our religion.' He said, 'Even if we detest?
7:89  Verily, we shall have invented a lie against God if we return to your religion, after God has saved us from it; And it is not for us to return to it except that God, our Lord wills. Our Lord encompasses all things in knowledge; on God we rely. Our Lord! Open between us and between our people with truth, and you are the best of those who open.'
7:90  And the chiefs of those who disbelieved amongst his people said, 'If you follow Shuaib, indeed, you shall certainly be losers.'
7:91  So the earthquake seized them, and in the morning they lay in their dwellings prone.
7:92  Those who called Shuaib a liar, were as though they had not dwelt therein. - those who called Shuaib a liar, they were the losers.
7:93  So he turned away from them and said, 'O my people! Verily, I conveyed to you the messages of my Lord, and I advised you sincerely; so how should I grieve for a people who are disbelievers?
7:94  And We have not sent unto a city any prophet except We seized its people with trouble and hardship, that perhaps they might be humble;
7:95  Then We changed in place of evil, good, until they increased and said, 'Verily, hardship and ease touched our fathers;' then We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive. -
7:96  And if that the people of the towns had believed and feared, surely We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied, so We seized them for what they used to earn.
7:97  Are the people of the towns then secure from Our violence coming upon them by night, while they sleep?
7:98  Or are the people of the towns secure from Our violence coming upon them in the forenoon while they play?
7:99  Are they then secure from the craft of God? But none feel secure from the craft of God except the people who shall lose.
7:100  And is it not a guide to those who inherit the earth after its people that had We willed We would have smited them in their sins, and set a stamp upon their hearts, so they do not hear?
7:101  Those cities, We relate to you their news. And certainly their messengers came to them with the clear proofs; but they were not to believe in what they called a lie before. - Thus God sets a stamp on the hearts of the disbelievers.
7:102  And We did not find in most of them a covenant; and indeed, We found most of them surely disobedient.
7:103  Then We raised up after them Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs; but they did them wrong, so see how was the end of the corrupters.
7:104  And Moses said, 'O Pharaoh! Indeed, I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds;
7:105  Obligated on that I not say about God except the truth. Certainly, I have come to you with a clear proof from your Lord; so send the children of Israel with me.'
7:106  He said, 'If you have come with a sign, then bring it, if you are of the truthful.'
7:107  So he threw his rod down, and lo! It was a clear snake;
7:108  And he drew out his hand, and lo! It was white to the beholders.
7:109  Said the chiefs of Pharaoh's people, 'Indeed, this is surely a knowing magician;
7:110  He desires to drive you out of your land; - so what do you command?'
7:111  They said, 'Put him off and his brother; and send into the cities gatherers,
7:112  They will bring to you every knowing magician.'
7:113  And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, 'Indeed there surely will be a reward for us if we are victors.'
7:114  He said, 'Yes, and indeed you surely will be of those who are near.'
7:115  They said, 'O Moses! Will you throw or shall we be the throwers?'
7:116  He said, 'Throw,' And when they threw down, they enchanted the people's eyes, and made them dread, and came with a great magic.
7:117  And We inspired to Moses, 'Throw down your rod,' And lo, it swallowed what they were falsifying.
7:118  And the truth stood fast and vain was what they had done;
7:119  And they were conquered there and turned back as little ones.
7:120  And the magicians were thrown down, prostrating.
7:121  They said, 'We believe in the Lord of the worlds,
7:122  The Lord of Moses and Aaron.'
7:123  Pharaoh said, 'You believe in him before I give you permission. Indeed, this is surely a plot which you have plotted in the city that you may drive out from it its people, but soon you shall know.
7:124  I will surely cut off your hands and your feet from opposite sides, then I will surely crucify you all together.'
7:125  They said, 'Indeed, we to our Lord return.
7:126  And you do not take vengeance on us, except for that we believe in the signs of our Lord, when they come to us. Our Lord! Pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as those who submit.
7:127  And the chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, 'Will you leave Moses and his people to work corruption in the earth, and to leave you and your gods?' He said, 'We will slay their sons and we will let live their women, and indeed, we are supreme over them.'
7:128  Moses said to his people, 'Ask for aid from God and be patient; indeed, the earth is God's. He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants, and the end is for those who fear.'
7:129  They said, 'We have been hurt before you came to us, and after you have come to us.' He said, 'It may be that your Lord will destroy your enemy, and make you successors in the earth; and He will see how you act.'
7:130  And certainly, We seized Pharaoh's people with the years and scarcity of fruits, perhaps they may remember;
7:131  But when good came to them, they said, 'This is ours;' and if evil befalls them, they ascribe evil omens to Moses and those with him; lo, their evil omens are only with God, but most of them do not know.
7:132  And they said, 'Whatever sign you bring us with which to enchant us, so we will not believe in you.'
7:133  Then We sent on them the flood and the locusts and the lice and the frogs and the blood, - signs detailed; but they were big with pride and were a sinful people.
7:134  And when the plague fell on them, they said, 'O Moses! Call on your Lord for us, because He has a covenant with you; indeed, if you remove the plague from us surely, we will believe in you; and surely we will send with you the children of Israel.'
7:135  But when We removed from them the plague until a term which they should reach, lo! They broke their promise.
7:136  So We took vengeance on them, and drowned them in the sea, for that they said Our signs were lies and were heedless of them.
7:137  And We gave as an inheritance to the people who had been weak, the eastern parts of the land and the western parts of it, which We had blessed; and the good word of your Lord was fulfilled on the children of Israel, for that they were patient; and We destroyed what Pharaoh and his people had made and what they had built.
7:138  And We took the children of Israel across the sea; and they came upon a people devoted to idols they had, they said, 'O Moses! Make for us a god as they have gods.' He said, 'Indeed, you are ignorant people.
7:139  Indeed, these - destroyed is what they are given to; and vain is what they have done.'
7:140  He said, 'Shall I seek a god for you other than God, while He has favoured you over the worlds?'
7:141  And when We saved you from Pharaoh's people who were afflicting you with evil torment, killing your sons, and letting your women live; and in that was a great trial from your Lord.
7:142  And We appointed for Moses thirty nights, and completed them with ten, so the appointed time of his Lord of forty nights was completed. And Moses said to his brother Aaron, 'Be my vicegerent amongst my people, and do right, and do not follow the way of the corrupters.'
7:143  And when Moses came to Our appointed place, and his Lord spoke to him, he said, 'My Lord! Show me, - that I may look on you.' He said, 'You cannot see Me; but look upon the mountain, and if it remains in its place, then soon you will see Me;' but when his Lord became manifested to the mountain He made it dust, and Moses fell down in a swoon. And when he came to himself, he said, 'Glory be to You. I turn repentant to You, and I am the first of the believers.'
7:144  He said, 'O Moses! Indeed, I have chosen you over mankind with My messages and with My words, so take what I have given you, and be of the thankful.'
7:145  And We wrote for him in the tablets an admonition of everything, and a detailing of everything: 'So take them with firmness, and command your people to take the best of it. I will show you the home of the disobedient;
7:146  I will turn from My signs those who are proud in the earth without right; and if they see every sign they shall not believe in it, and if they see the path of rectitude they shall not take it for a path; but if they see the path of error they shall take it for a path; - that is because they have said Our signs are lies and were heedless of them.'
7:147  And those who say Our signs and the meeting of the hereafter are lies, vain are their works. Shall they be rewarded except for what they used to do?
7:148  And Moses' people after him took of their ornaments a calf - a body having a lowing sound; did they not see that it could not speak with them, nor guide them in the path? They took it and they were unjust;
7:149  And when regret overcame them and they saw that they had indeed gone astray, they said, 'Indeed, if our Lord does not have mercy on us and forgive us we shall surely be of those who lose.'
7:150  And when Moses returned to his people angry and grieved, he said, 'Evil is what you have done in my place after me. Would you hasten on the command of your Lord? And he threw down the tablets and took his brother by the head dragging him to him. He said, 'Son of my mother! Indeed, the people weakened me and almost killed me; so let not the enemies rejoice over me, and put me not with the unjust people.'
7:151  He said, 'My Lord! Forgive me and my brother and enter us into Your mercy; and you are the most merciful of the merciful.'
7:152  Indeed, those who took the calf, there shall reach them wrath from their Lord, and abasement in the worldly life; and thus We reward those who are forgers.
7:153  But those who have done evil deeds, then turn after it and believe, - indeed, your Lord, after it, is surely forgiving, compassionate.
7:154  And when the anger subsided in Moses, he took the tablets; and in their inscription was guidance and mercy for those who - they fear their Lord.
7:155  And Moses chose from his people seventy men for Our appointed place; and when the earthquake seized them he said, 'My Lord! Had you willed, you would have destroyed them before and me. Will you destroy us for what the fools amongst us did? It is not except Your trial, with it you lead astray whom you will and guide whom you will; You are our patron. So forgive us and have mercy on us, and You are the best of those who forgive.
7:156  And write down for us in this world good and in the hereafter; indeed, we are guided to you.' He said, 'My punishment - I strike with it whom I will; and My mercy embraces everything; and I will write it down for those who fear, and give alms, and those who believe in Our signs, -
7:157  Those who follow the messenger - the illiterate prophet, whom they find written down with them in the Torah and the Gospel, bidding them what is reasonable and forbidding them what is wrong, and making lawful for them the good things, and making unlawful the bad things; and setting down for them their burdens and the fetters which were on them; so those who believe with him and aid him and help him and follow the light which has been sent down with him - those are the prosperous.'
7:158  Say, 'O mankind! Indeed, I am the messenger of God to you all, - of Him whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, there is no god but He. He gives life and He gives death.' So believe in God and His messenger, the illiterate prophet, - who believes in God and His words - and follow him; that perhaps you may be guided.
7:159  And amongst Moses' people is a nation who guide with the truth, and with it they act justly.
7:160  And We cut them up into twelve tribes, nations; and We inspired to Moses, when his people asked him for water, 'Strike with your staff the rock!' And there gushed forth from it twelve springs, certainly, each people knew their drinking place. And We overshadowed them with the cloud; and We sent down upon them the manna and the quails, 'Eat of the good things We have provided you.' - And they did not wrong us, but they wronged themselves.
7:161  And when it was said to them, 'Dwell in this city and eat from it wherever you will, and say unburdening; and enter the gate prostrating; We will forgive you your sins; soon We will increase the good-doers.'
7:162  But those amongst them who did wrong changed it for a saying other than that which was said to them; and We sent upon them a plague from the sky for that they were unjust.
7:163  And ask them about the town which stood by the sea, when they transgressed in the Sabbath; when their fish came to them visibly on their Sabbath day; but on the day they had no Sabbath, they did not come to them, thus We try them for that they used to disobey.
7:164  And when a nation of them said, 'Why do you warn a people whom God would destroy, or punish with severe punishment?' They said, 'As an excuse to your Lord, and that perhaps they may fear.'
7:165  So when they forgot what they had been reminded of, We saved those who forbade evil, and We seized those who did wrong with evil punishment, because they were disobeying.
7:166  So when they rebelled against what they were forbidden, We said to them, 'Be apes, despised.'
7:167  And when your Lord proclaimed that He would surely send upon them till the Day of Resurrection, those who would afflict them with evil punishment; indeed, your Lord is surely swift in the punishment, and indeed, He is surely forgiving, compassionate.
7:168  And We cut them up in the earth into nations. Of them are the righteous, and of them are the reverse of that; and We have tried them with the good and the bad; perhaps they may return.
7:169  And there succeeded after them successors who inherited the Book. They take the goods of this nearer world and say, 'It will be forgiven us.' And if the like goods came to them they would take it. Was there not taken from them a covenant by the Book, that they should not say against God except the truth? And they have studied what is in it; and the abode of the hereafter is better for those who fear - do you not then understand?
7:170  And those who hold fast by the Book and are steadfast in prayer - indeed, We will not waste the wages of those who do well.
7:171  And when We shook the mountain over them, as though it were a shadow, and they thought that it would fall upon them, 'Take what We have given you with strength, and remember what is in it; perhaps you may fear.'
7:172  And when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their offspring, and made them bear witness against themselves, 'Am I not your Lord?' They said, 'Yes, we bear witness.' - lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, 'Indeed, We were heedless of this;'
7:173  Or you say, 'Only our fathers associated others before, and we are offspring after them; will you then destroy us for what the vain-doers did?'
7:174  And thus We detail the signs; and perhaps they may return.
7:175  And read to them the news of him to whom We gave Our signs, but he withdrew from them, so the devil followed him, and he was of those who go astray.
7:176  And had We willed surely, We would have exalted him with it, but he inclined to the earth and followed his lust, so his likeness is as the likeness of the dog, if you attack it it hangs out its tongue, or if you leave it, it hangs out its tongue. That is the likeness of the people who say Our signs are lies. So narrate the story perhaps they may reflect.
7:177  Evil is the likeness of the people who say Our signs are lies and used to wrong themselves.
7:178  Whoever God guides, then he is the guided; and whoever He leads astray - then those - they are the losers.
7:179  And certainly We have created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind; they have hearts with which they do not understand; and they have eyes with which they do not see; and they have ears with which they do not hear; those are like cattle, nay, they go more astray. Those - they are the heedless.
7:180  And God's are the best names; so call on Him by them, and leave those who deviate from His names; soon they will be recompensed for what they used to do.
7:181  And of those whom We have created is a nation who guide with the truth and with it they act justly;
7:182  But those who say Our signs are lies, soon We will bring them down by degrees from where they do not know.
7:183  And I will give respite to them. Indeed, my plot is strong.
7:184  Do they not reflect? There is no madness in their companion? He is not except a clear warner.
7:185  Do they not behold the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and what things God has created, and that it may be, their term has verily drawn near? So in what story after it then will they believe?
7:186  Whoever God leads astray then there is no guide for him. And He leaves them in their immoderation, blindly wandering.
7:187  They ask you about the Hour, when is its fixed time? - Say, 'Its knowledge is only with My Lord; none shall manifest it at its time but He; it is heavy in the heavens and the earth, it will not come to you except suddenly.' They will ask as though you were privy to it say, 'Its knowledge is only with God, - but most of mankind do not know.'
7:188  Say, 'I cannot control profit nor harm for myself, except what God wills. And if I knew the unseen, I would surely have much of good, and evil would not have touched me; I am only a warner and a herald of good tidings to a people who believe.'
7:189  He is the one who created you from one soul, and made from it its mate that he might dwell with her; and when he covered her she bore a light burden and passed with it; but when it grew heavy they called on God, their Lord, 'Surely if you give us a righteous one surely we shall be of the thankful.'
7:190  But when He gives them a righteous one they make for Him partners in what He has given them. But exalted is God above what they associate.
7:191  Do they associate what does not create anything, while they are created?
7:192  And no help can they give them, nor can they help themselves.
7:193  And if you call them to guidance they will not follow you. It is the same on you whether you call them or you are silent.
7:194  Indeed, those whom you call on besides God are servants like you. So call on them, and let them answer you, if you are truthful.
7:195  Have they feet with which they walk, or have they hands with which they hold, or have they eyes with which they see, or have they ears with which they hear? Say, 'Call upon your partners; then plot against me, and do not give me respite.
7:196  Indeed, my patron is God, who has sent down the Book, and He protects the righteous.
7:197  And those whom you call on beside Him are not able to help you, nor can they help themselves.'
7:198  And if you call them to the guidance they do not hear, and you may see them looking towards you, while they do not see.
7:199  Take to pardon, and order what is kind, and turn away from the ignorant;
7:200  And if an incitement from the devil incites you then seek refuge with God; Indeed, he is hearing, knowing.
7:201  Indeed, those who fear God, when an evil thought touches them from the devil, they remember, and lo, they are those who see.
7:202  But their brothers they increase them in error, then they cease not.
7:203  And when you do not bring them a sign, they say, 'Why have you not chosen it?' Say, 'I only follow what is inspired to me from my Lord; this is insight from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe.'
7:204  And when the Quran is read, then listen to it and be silent; perhaps you may obtain mercy.
7:205  And remember your Lord in yourself humbly and with fear, and without the loudness of the words, in the morning and the evening; and be not of the heedless.
7:206  Indeed, those who are with your Lord are not big with pride for His service, and they glorify Him, and to Him they prostrate.
