7:1  Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad.
7:2  A book sent down on you so let there be no contrition in your bosom on account of it so that you may warn thereby and it is a remembrance for the believers.
7:3  Follow that which has been sent down unto you from your Lord and do not follow any allies besides Him. How little is that you remember.
7:4  And how many a township have We destroyed when Our fury came upon it while they were sleeping at night or while they were sleeping at daytime.
7:5  They had no supplication, when Our fury came upon them, other than that they said, “We indeed were those who wronged their own souls.”
7:6  Then surely We will question those who were sent unto them and surely We will question the messengers.
7:7  Then surely We will tell the story unto them with knowledge and We surely were not those who were absent.
7:8  And the weight that day is the truth but as for them whose balances will be heavy, those are the ones who are the prosperous.
7:9  And as for the ones whose balances will be light, it is they who have put their own souls in loss because of that they used to treat Our signs wrongfully.
7:10  And indeed We have established you in the earth and We have made for you therein livelihood. How little is that you offer gratitude.
7:11  And We indeed created you and then We fashioned you and then We said to the angels, “Bow down to Adam” so they all prostrated except Iblis, he was not among the prostrators.
7:12  He said, “What prevented you that you did not bow down when I commanded you?” He said, “I am better than him. You created me from fire and You created him from clay.”
7:13  He said, “Go down hence for it is not right for you that you should act arrogantly therein so get out. Truly you are of those who are belittled.”
7:14  He said, “Give me a moratorium till the day they will be raised.”
7:15  He [Allah] said, “Indeed you are of those who are given moratorium.”
7:16  He said now that you have caused me to err, I will surely lay in wait for them on your path the most upright.
7:17  Then I will surely come upon them from before them and from behind them and from their right and from their left and You will not find most of them grateful.
7:18  Allah said, “Get out of it dishonoured and banished. Surely those who follow you among them, certainly I will fill hell with you all together.
7:19  O Adam live in the garden in tranquility, you and your wife, and eat both of you from wherever you wish but come not both of you near unto this tree lest you be of those who wrong their own souls.
7:20  But Satan made evil insinuations to both of them so that he may reveal to both of them what was hidden from both of them from their nudeness and he said, “Your Lord did not forbid you from this tree except that both of you should become angels or that both of you should be of those who live forever.”
7:21  And he swore to both of them, “I indeed for both of you surely am of those who are the sincere advisors.”
7:22  He debunked both of them through flattery so when they tasted the tree, their nudeness became revealed to them and they began to piece together over themselves from the leaves of the garden and their Lord called on them, “Did I not forbid both of you from that tree yonder and Did I not say to both of you ‘Truly Satan for you is an enemy most evident’?”
7:23  They both said, “O our Lord! We have wronged our own souls and if You do not forgive us and grant us Your mercy, surely we will be of those who have gone in loss.”
7:24  He [Allah] said, “Go down some of you as enemies unto others and there will be for you in the earth a station and an enjoyment for a little while.”
7:25  [then] He said, “Therein you shall live and therein you shall die and there from you shall be brought forth.
7:26  O children of Adam! We indeed have sent down upon you garment which covers your nudity and as ornamentation and yet the garment of God’s reverence, that is the best. That is of the signs of Allah so that they may oft-remember.
7:27  O you children of Adam! Let not Satan put you in tribulation as he got your parents out of the garden, stripping from both of them their garment in order to show them their nudeness. He indeed sees you, he and his clan, from where you do not see them. Truly We have appointed the devils as allies for those who do not believe.”
7:28  And when they commit an offence, they say, “We found our fathers doing it and Allah has commanded us to do it.” Say, “Truly Allah does not command unto offensive deeds.” Do you claim against Allah what you do not know?
7:29  Say, “My Lord has commanded unto the uprightness and that you set your faces right in every mosque and that you invoke Him making the religion sincere for Him. As He started you, thus you will return.
7:30  A party He has guided and another party, the misguidance has become binding on them. Truly they took the devils as allies besides Allah and they think that they indeed are well guided.
7:31  O children of Adam! Take on your adornments at every place of prostration and eat and drink but do not waste. Truly He loves not those who are wasteful.
7:32  Say, “Who has forbidden the adornments of Allah which He has produced for His slaves and [forbidden] the good things from the sustenance” Say, “It is for those who believe in the life of this world and it is purely for them on the day of resurrection.” Thus do We detail the signs for a people who know.
7:33  Say, “My Lord has only forbidden the offences what is apparent from it and what is hidden and [forbidden] the impiety and the wrongfulness without the truth and that you ascribe as partners to Allah that for which He has sent down no authority and that you claim upon Allah what you know not.”
7:34  And for every nation there is a term. And when their term comes, they cannot delay an hour nor can they advance.
7:35  O children of Adam! If ever messengers come unto you from among you, relating unto you My signs then whoever safeguards his own soul and does right, then there will be no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.
7:36  And those who belie Our signs and they act arrogantly towards them, they are people of the fire who will abide therein forever.
7:37  Who does greater wrong to his own soul than he who contrives a lie against Allah or belies His signs. (For such) their lot from the Book will overtake them, until when Our messengers (of death) come to gather their souls, they say, “Where (now) is that which you used to invoke besides Allah?” They say, “They have gone missing from us” And they witnessed against their own souls that they indeed were disbelievers.
7:38  He said, “Enter you in the fire among nations which had passed before you from the Jinns and the humans.” Each time a nation entered, it cursed its sister until when they have rejoined therein all together, the last of them said to the first of them, “O our Lord! These are the ones who led us astray, therefore give them double punishment from the fire.” He said, “For each one, there is double punishment but you know not.”
7:39  And the first of them said to the last of them, “But no advantage you have over us so taste you the punishment for all that you used to perpetrate.”
7:40  Truly those who belied Our signs and acted arrogantly towards them, for them the doors of the heaven will not be opened and they will not enter the garden until the camel passes through the eye of the needle and thus do We requite the evildoers.
7:41  There will be for them from hell a cradle and from above them a shower [of brimstone] and thus We requite those who wrong their own souls.
7:42  As for those who believe and worked righteous deeds, We do not put a burden on a soul more than its capacity. Those are people of the garden. They will abide therein forever.
7:43  And We pulled out what may be in their bosoms from rancour. Beneath them the rivers will flow and they will say, “The praise is for Allah who guided us to this and we were not going to be guided had Allah not guided us. Indeed messengers of our Lord came with the truth.” And they were called upon that, “That garden, which you have been made to inherit it, is because of all that you used to do.”
7:44  And the people of the garden call out on to the people of the fire that, “indeed we have found that which our Lord had promised us to be true. Have you found that what your Lord promised you to be true?” They say, “yes indeed” and then a proclaimer proclaims between them saying, “Indeed curse of Allah is on those who wrong their own souls.”
7:45  Those who hinder from the way of Allah and they seek to make it crooked while they are disbelievers in the hereafter.
7:46  And between the two there is a barrier while on the lofty pinnacles are men who recognize each one by their marks and they call out the people of the garden that, “Peace be on you” They have not yet entered it while they are longing.
7:47  And when their gazes are turned towards people of the fire, they will cry out, “O our Lord! Do not make us to be with the people who wrong their own souls.”
7:48  And people of the lofty pinnacles call out to men they recognize by their marks saying, “It has been of no avail to you all that you have amassed and all that because of which used to be arrogant.
7:49  Are these the ones you had sworn that Allah would not endow them with any mercy?” [O you the people of the garden!] “Enter you the garden, there is no fear on you while you grieve not.”
7:50  And people of the fire call out on people of the garden that, “pour down upon us from the water or from the sustenance which Allah has provided you with.” They say, “Truly Allah has forbidden both of them on the disbelievers.”
7:51  Those who took their religion as a matter of idleness and sport while the life of this world tempted them. Therefore today We shall forget them as they forgot the meeting of this day of theirs and because that they used to deny Our signs.
7:52  And indeed We have brought them a book and We explained it in detail with knowledge and as a guidance and as a mercy for a people who believe.
7:53  Are they waiting for aught except the ultimate interpretation thereof? On the day when its ultimate interpretation will come to pass, then those who had forgotten it from before would say, “Indeed messengers of our Lord had come with the truth, so are there any intercessors for us so that they intercede for us or could we be brought back [into the former world] so that we may work a work other than the work we used to work before?” They indeed have put their own souls in loss and all that they used to contrive had gone missing from them.
7:54  Your Lord indeed is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods, then He established His presence over the throne. He causes the night to cover the day following it in swift pursuit and (He created) the sun and the moon, and the stars subservient through His commandment. Lo! For Him is the creation and the commandment. Blessed is Allah Lord of the worlds.
7:55  Invoke your Lord clamorously and silently. He indeed does not love the transgressors.
7:56  And do not spread corruption in the earth after that it has been set right and invoke Him out of fear and out of hope. Truly mercy of Allah is close to those who act in excellence.
7:57  And He it is who sends the winds as bringers of glad tidings ahead of His mercy until when it has lifted up a heavy-laden cloud, We drive it onto a dead land and then We send down the water thereat and We cause all kinds of produce to come forth thereby. Thus do We bring forth the dead so that you may remember.
7:58  As for the good land, its produce comes out by the leave of its Lord and as for the one which is bad, it does not come out except meagrely. Thus do We present the signs in multiple forms for a people who offer gratitude.
7:59  We indeed sent Noah to his people and he said, “O my people! Serve Allah. There is no deity for you save He. I indeed fear for you the punishment of an awful day.”
7:60  The chieftains from his people said, “Indeed we certainly see you in misguidance most evident.”
7:61  He said, “O my people! There is no misguidance in me rather I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds.
7:62  I deliver unto you the messages of my Lord and I advise you candidly and I know from Allah that which you know not.
7:63  Are you astonished that remembrance has come on to you from your Lord upon a man from among you so that he may warn you and so that you may safeguard your own souls and so that perhaps you may receive mercy.”
7:64  But they belied him so We saved him and those who were with him in the ark and We drowned those who belied Our signs. Truly they were a people who were lost in blindness.
7:65  And to ‘Ad We sent their brother Hud. He said, “O my people! Serve Allah. There is no deity for you save He. Will you not then safeguard your own souls?”
7:66  The chieftains from his people, those who disbelieved, said, “Indeed we certainly see you in foolishness and we indeed certainly think you to be of the liars.”
7:67  He said, “O my people! There is no foolishness in me but rather I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds.
7:68  I deliver unto you the messages of my Lord and I am for you a candid advisor most trustworthy.
7:69  Are you astonished that remembrance has come on to you from your Lord upon a man from among you so that he may warn you. And remember when He appointed you as vicegerents after the people of Noah and He increased you prodigiously in your physical form. Therefore remember the bounties of Allah so that perhaps you may prosper.”
7:70  They said, “Have you come to us so that we serve Allah alone and we forsake all that which our forefathers used to worship. So then bring upon us that with which you threaten us if you indeed are of those who are the truthful ones.”
7:71  He said, “Then indeed opprobrium and anger have fallen upon you from your Lord. Do you argue with me about names that you have named, you and your fathers, which Allah has sent no authority thereby? Therefore wait. I indeed am with you among those who are waiting.”
7:72  So We saved him and those who were with him through a mercy from Us and We cut off the roots of those who belied Our signs and they were not believers.
7:73  And unto Samood We sent their brother Salih. He said, “O my people! Serve Allah. There is no deity for you save He. Indeed a clear proof has come unto you from your Lord. This she-camel of Allah is a sign for you. Leave her to eat in the land of Allah and do not touch her with any harm otherwise a painful punishment will seize you.”
7:74  And remember when He appointed you vicegerents after ‘Ad and He established you in the earth, from its flat land you take mansions while from the mountains you hew out houses. Therefore remember the bounties of Allah and do not go about in the earth spreading corruption.
7:75  The chieftains from his people, those who grew arrogant, said to those who were believers among those who were oppressed among them, “Do you know for certain that Salih indeed has been sent from his Lord?” They said, “We indeed are believers in that with what he is sent with.”
7:76  Those who grew arrogant said, “We indeed are disbelievers in that which you believe in.”
7:77  So they hamstrung the she-camel and they transgressed the command of their Lord and they said, “O Salih! Bring upon us that with which you threaten us if you indeed are of the messengers.”
7:78  So the quake seized them and they laid lifeless by morning in their homes.
7:79  Thereupon he turned away from them and he said, “O my people! I indeed delivered you the message of my Lord and I advised you candidly but you do not love those who advise you candidly.”
7:80  And Lot when he said to his people, “Do you commit the offence that no one from among all the peoples has done before you?
7:81  You indeed come upon the men for fulfillment of your lust instead of the women. Nay you indeed are a people who have wasted your own souls.”
7:82  But the response of his people was no other than that they said, “Expel them out of your township. Truly they are a people who seek to be pure.”
7:83  But then We saved him and his family except his wife. She was among those who were bygones.
7:84  And We rained upon them a rain so look at how was the ending of the evildoers.
7:85  And unto Madian We sent their brother Shoaib. He said, “O my people! Serve Allah. There is no deity for you save He. Indeed a clear sign has come unto you from your Lord. Therefore give full measure and weight and do not cheat people in their things and do not spread corruption in the earth after it has been set right. That is better for you if you are indeed believers.”
7:86  And do not sit on every path threatening and hindering from the way of Allah whoever believes in it and you seek to make it crooked. And remember when you were few and He made you many and look at how was the ending of the corrupters.
7:87  “And if a party from among you believes in that with which I have been sent and a party does not believe, then be patient until Allah judges between us for He is the best of the judges.”
7:88  The chieftains who grew arrogant from among his people said, “We surely are going to expel you O Shoaib and those who believe with you from our township or you surely must return to our way” He said, “Even though we were unwilling?”
7:89  We must have contrived a lie against Allah if we were to return to your way after that Allah had saved us from it. It is not for us to return in it except if Allah our Lord pleases. Our Lord encompasses everything in knowledge. In Allah have we put our trust. O our Lord! Decide between us and our people by the truth for you are the best of the deciders.
7:90  And the chieftains who disbelieved from among his people said, “If you follow Shoaib, indeed then you are surely of those who are in loss.”
7:91  So the quake seized them and they laid lifeless in their homes by the morning.
7:92  Those who belied Shoaib it is as though they never lived there. Those who belied Shoaib, it is they who were the ones in loss.
7:93  Then he turned away from them and he said, “O my people! I indeed have delivered to you the messages of my Lord and I advised you candidly. How then can I sorrow upon a people who were disbelievers.”
7:94  And We sent not in a township any prophet except that We seized its people with the affliction and the adversity so that they may plead unto Allah clamorously.
7:95  And thereafter We replaced the ill with good until they became numerous and they said, “Indeed adversity and ease once touched our fathers.” Then We seized them suddenly while they were not aware.
7:96  If only the people of the township had believed and revered Allah, We surely would have opened for them the blessings from the heaven and from the earth but they belied so We seized them because of all that they used to perpetrate.
7:97  Do the people of the townships feel safe that Our fury might come upon them at night while they are sleeping?
7:98  Or do the people of the townships feel safe that Our fury might come upon them at daytime while they are playing?
7:99  Do they feel safe from the plan of Allah? For no one feels safe from the plan of Allah except the people who are in loss.
7:100  Has it not served as a means of guidance for those who inherit the earth after its people that if We so willed We could hold them to task for their sins and We could put a seal on their hearts so that they hear not.
7:101  Those townships We relate unto you of their news. Indeed their messengers had come unto them with clear signs but they were not going to believe in what they belied before. It is thus that Allah puts a seal on to the hearts of the disbelievers.
7:102  And We did not find for most of them any allegiance. Rather We found most of them surely of those who are renegades.
7:103  Then We sent Moses after them with Our signs to Pharaoh and his chieftains but they treated them wrongfully. Therefore look at how was the ending of the corrupters.
7:104  And Moses said, “I indeed am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds.
7:105  It is binding on me that I should say nothing about Allah except the truth. Indeed, I have come to you with a clear sign from your Lord. Therefore send with me the children of Israel.”
7:106  He said, “If you have indeed come with any sign, then bring it if you are indeed of those who are the truthful ones.”
7:107  So he cast down his stick and behold it is a snake most evident.
7:108  And he pulled out his hand and behold it is white for the beholders.
7:109  And the chieftains from the people of Pharaoh said, “Truly this surely is a magician most knowledgeable.
7:110  He intends to drive you out from your land so what do you command?”
7:111  They said, “Give him a delay, he and his brother, and send in the cities those who are gatherers.
7:112  They shall come on to you with every magician most knowledgeable.”
7:113  And the magicians came to Pharaoh and they said, “Indeed there surely is a reward for us if we are the ones who have overcome?”
7:114  He said, “Yes and indeed you surely are among the ones who are drawn near.”
7:115  They said, “O Moses! Either you cast or it is going to be us who will be the ones who cast.”
7:116  He said, “You cast” So when they cast, they put magic on the eyes of the people and they struck them with fear and they came up with a magic most prodigious.
7:117  And We inspired Moses saying, “Cast down your stick” and behold, it swallowed all that they were fabricating.
7:118  So the truth was fulfilled and all that they were doing came to naught.
7:119  Therefore they were overcome thereupon and they turned back demeaned.
7:120  And the magicians were thrown down prostrate.
7:121  They said, “We believe in the Lord of the worlds.”
7:122  "Lord of Moses and Aaron.”
7:123  Pharaoh said, “You believe in him before I gave you permission. This surely is a plan which you had planned in the city to drive its people out of it. In time you will come to know.”
7:124  Surely I will cut your hands and your legs from opposite sides then surely I will crucify you all together.
7:125  They said, “We indeed are surely going to return back to our Lord.”
7:126  You begrudge us for no other than that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. O our Lord! Pour down patience upon us and take our souls as those who have submitted to You.
7:127  And the chieftains from the people of Pharaoh said, “Are you going to let Moses and his people spread corruption in the land and to forsake you and your gods?” He said, “We surely are going to kill their male children and let live their females and we indeed have over-riding power over them.”
7:128  Moses said to his people, “Seek help from Allah and be patient. Truly the earth is for Allah. He gives it as inheritance to whoever He pleases from among His slaves and the good ending is for those who revere Allah.”
7:129  They said, “We were hurt before you came to us and after you had come to us” He said, “Perhaps your Lord will destroy your enemy and will appoint you as vicegerents in the earth so that He may see how you will act.”
7:130  And We indeed seized Pharaoh’s folk with drought and reduction in the produce so that perhaps they may remember.
7:131  And whenever the good happens to them, they will say, “This is for us” But when they are touched with evil, they will augur ill about Moses and about those who are with him. Truly their ill augur is only in the presence of Allah but most of them do not know.
7:132  And they said, “No matter how many signs you bring unto us to spellbind us with it, we surely are not going to be believers in you.”
7:133  So We sent against them the flood and the plagues of the locusts and the lice and the frogs and the blood as detailed signs but they grew arrogant and they were a people who were evildoers.
7:134  But finally when abomination fell upon them, they said, “O Moses! Invoke your Lord for us in that which He has covenanted with you. Surely if you will lift the abomination from us, we surely will believe in you and we surely will send children of Israel with you.”
7:135  But when We lift off the abomination from them till a term they were meant to reach, here they are recanting on their promise.
7:136  So We exacted from them Our vengeance, thereby We drowned them in the sea because they indeed belied Our signs and they were forgetful about them.
7:137  And We caused the people who were oppressed to inherit the east of the land and its west wherein We spread Our blessing and the excellent word of your Lord was fulfilled on the children of Israel because they were patient and We levelled down all that Pharaoh and his people used to fabricate and all that they used to erect.
7:138  And We took the children of Israel across the sea until when they came upon a people who were devoted to the worship of their idols, they said, “O Moses! Make a god for us as there are gods for them” He said, “You indeed are a people who are ignorant.”
7:139  Truly all that these people are implicated in is doomed to annihilation and in vain will be all that they used to do.
7:140  He said, “Should I seek any god for you other than Allah when it is He who has favoured you over all the peoples.”
7:141  And when We saved you from Pharaoh’s folk, they were making you taste the woeful punishment, killing your sons and letting live your females and truly in that was a trial most awful from your Lord.
7:142  And We set up an appointment with Moses of thirty nights and then We completed it with ten so that the tryst of his Lord was fulfilled for forty nights. And Moses said to his brother Aaron, “Replace me in my people and act in righteousness and do not follow the way of the corrupters.”
7:143  And when Moses [finally] came unto Our tryst and his Lord spoke to him, he said, “O my Lord! Make me see You looking at You.” He said, “You will never see Me (looking at Me) but look at the mountain. If it settles down in its place, only then you will see Me” So when his Lord openly manifested Himself to the mountain, He made it level and Moses fell down unconscious and when he came back to consciousness he said, “Glory be unto You. I have turned back to You in repentance and I am the first of those who are the believers.”
7:144  He said, “O Moses! I have indeed chosen you over mankind with My messages and with My speech. Therefore take what I have given unto you and be of those who offer gratitude.”
7:145  And We inscribed for him in the tablets [of Torah] from everything as an admonition and a detailing of everything [and we said to him] “Hold it with strength and command your people to hold unto what is the most excellent thereof. Soon I will show you the home of those who are the renegades.”
7:146  Soon I will turn away from My signs, those who act arrogantly in the earth without the right and even if they see all signs, they will not believe in them and even if they see way of the good guidance, they will not take it as a way but if they see the way of misguidance, they will take it as a way. That is because they belied Our signs and because of that they used to be oblivious of them.
7:147  And those who belie Our signs and the meeting of the hereafter, their deeds have gone to naught. Are they rewarded for anything other than what they used to do?
7:148  The people of Moses took from their ornaments the effigy of a calf after him. It had a lowing sound. Did they not see that he spoke not to them and did not guide them to anyway? They took it [for worship] and they were those who wronged their own souls.
7:149  When they realized their guilt and they saw that they had indeed gone astray they said, “If our Lord does not have mercy on us and does not forgive us, we surely will be of those who are in loss.”
7:150  And When Moses came back to his people angry and sorrowful, he said, “Evil is that which you had done after me [in my absence]. Were you in a haste for the commandment of your Lord?” and he threw the tablets and seized his brother by the head dragging him unto him. He said, “O son of my mother! Truly the people took me as one who is weak and they almost killed me. Therefore do not let the enemies gloat over me and do not put me with the people who wrong their own souls.”
7:151  He said, “O my Lord! Forgive me and my brother and make us enter in Your mercy. For You are The Most Merciful of those who are merciful.”
7:152  Truly those who took the calf for worship, they will soon be overtaken by a wrath from their Lord and by a humiliation in the life of this world and thus do We requite those who contrive lies [against Allah].
7:153  But as for those who commit the evil deeds and then repent thereafter and believe, truly your Lord after that is surely Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
7:154  And finally when the anger abated for Moses, he took the tablets and in the copy thereof there is guidance and mercy for those who have awe for their Lord.
7:155  And then Moses chose seventy men out of his people for Our tryst. But when the quake seized them, he said, “O my Lord! If You so willed, You could have destroyed them before as well as me. Will you destroy us for that which the weak-minded from among us did? It is but Your trial by which you cause whom you please to go astray and [by which] you guide whom you please. You are our ally therefore forgive us and have mercy on us and You are the best of those who forgive.”
7:156  And prescribe for us in this world an excellent reward as well as in the hereafter. Truly we have responded to you. He said, “My punishment, I inflict with it whom I please and My mercy encompasses everything. However I will write it only for those who revere Me and give out the sanctifying dues and those who believe in Our signs.”
7:157  Those who follow the messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written with them in the Torah and in the Gospel. He commands them to the kind things and he forbids them from the wicked things and he makes clean things lawful for them and he makes the unclean things unlawful for them and he takes away their heavy burdens from them as well as the fetters which were upon them. As for those who believe in him, and honour him and help him and follow the light which was sent down with him, they it is who are the ones who will prosper.
7:158  Say, ”O you the mankind! Truly I am the messenger of Allah to you all together; He for whom is the dominion of the heavens and of the earth. There is no deity save He. It is He who gives life and puts to death.” Therefore believe in Allah and in His messenger, the unlettered prophet; he who believes in Allah and in His words. Therefore follow him so that perhaps you may be rightly guided.
7:159  And among the people of Moses, there is a nation who responds by the truth and by it they stand upright.
7:160  And We divided them up into twelve tribes each as a nation and We sent Our inspiration to Moses when his people asked him for water saying, “Hit the rock with your staff.” Thereupon twelve springs gushed forth from it and every group of people knew their place of drinking and We caused the white cloud to provide shade for them and We sent down on them manna and salva [honey and cream]. Eat from the good things that We have provided you with and they did not wrong Us but it was their own souls that they used to wrong.”
7:161  And when it was said unto them, “Dwell in peace and tranquility in this township and eat therefrom from wherever you will, and say ‘Remove You from us the burden of our sins,' and enter the gate prostrate; We shall forgive you your sins. For those who act in excellence, We shall increase them [in excellence].
7:162  But those among them who wronged their own souls replaced that which was said unto them with something a word other than that which was told to them so We sent upon them an abomination from the heaven because of that they used to wrong their own souls.
7:163  And ask them about the township that used to be in the presence of the sea when they used to transgress in the Sabbath when their fish used to come on the day of their Sabbath openly but as for the days when it was not Sabbath, they did not come to them. Thus We try them because of that they used to act as renegades.
7:164  And when a group among them said, “Why do you admonish a people whom Allah is surely going to destroy or is surely going to punish with a formidable punishment.” The others said, “Just as an excuse unto your Lord and so that perhaps they might revere Allah.”
7:165  So when they forgot that with which they were reminded, We saved those who forbade from the evildoing and We seized those who wronged their own souls with a woeful punishment because of that they used to act as renegades.
7:166  And when they transgressed against that from which they were forbidden, We said unto them, “Be you apes; most ignoble.”
7:167  And when your Lord solemnly declared that He surely will raise against them till the day of resurrection, one who will make them taste the woeful punishment. Truly your Lord is surely quick in retribution and truly He is Oft-Forgiving, All-merciful.
7:168  And We divided them up in the earth into nations. Among them are the righteous ones but among them are ones who are short of that and We tried them with the good things and the evil things so that perhaps they may return back.
7:169  So after them came the evil successors who inherited the book, they grab onto the fleeting gain of this world and they say [in excuse] “It will be forgiven for us” But if similar fleeting gain comes their way they will grab it again. Was not the covenant of the book taken from them that they will not attribute to Allah except the truth? and they did study all that is in it. And the home of the hereafter is better for those who revere Allah. Will you not then understand?
7:170  And as for those who hold fast onto the book and establish the prayer, truly We do not allow the reward of those who make things right to go in vain.
7:171  And when We plucked the mountain and raised it above them as though it was a cloud and they thought that it was going to fall upon them [We said] “hold that which We have given you with strength and take to remembrance all that is in it, perhaps you may revere Allah”
7:172  And when your Lord brought forth from the children of Adam from their seeds their progenies and He made them witnesses upon themselves [saying] “Am I not your Lord?” They said [in response] “Yes indeed. We have witnessed.” Lest you say on the day of resurrection, “We indeed used to be oblivious about this.”
7:173  Or lest you say, “It was but our fathers who ascribed partners to Allah beforehand and we were descendants after them. Therefore will You destroy us for that which the falsifiers had done?”
7:174  And thus We detail the signs so that perhaps they may return back.
7:175  And relate unto them news of him unto whom We gave Our signs but he discarded them so Satan followed him and therefore he became of those who were misguided.
7:176  And had We so pleased, We would have surely raised him by means of them [Our words] but he leaned to the earth and followed his vain desires. So the likeness of him is like the likeness of the dog. If you attack him, he hangs his tongue out and if you leave him, he still hangs his tongue out. That is the likeness of the people who belie Our signs. Therefore recite the stories perhaps they will reflect.
7:177  Evil is the likeness of the people who belie Our signs and only their own souls do they wrong.
7:178  Whoever Allah guides, only he is the one who is well guided but whoever He allows to go astray, it is they who are the ones in loss.
7:179  And indeed We have disseminated for the hellfire many from the Jinns and from the humans. They have a heart by which they discern not and they have eyes by which they see not and they have ears by which they hear not. They are like the cattle. Nay! They are gone further astray. They it is who are oblivious.
7:180  For Allah belongs the most excellent names therefore invoke Him through them and abandon those who make bias in His names. In time soon they will be rewarded for all that they used to do.
7:181  And out of those that We have created, there is a nation which is guided by the truth, and by it they stand upright.
7:182  As for those who belie Our signs, We will soon decoy them gradually from where they know not.
7:183  I will give them moratorium. Truly My plan is well wrought.
7:184  And have they not reflected. There is no madness in their companion. He is but a warner most evident.
7:185  Have they not looked into the inner kingdom of the heavens and of the earth and into anything that Allah has created, it may so well be that their term has indeed come nigh therefore in which discourse after this one will they believe.
7:186  Whoever Allah allows to go astray, then for him there is certainly no guide and He abandons them groping in their transgression.
7:187  They ask you about the hour when shall it hail its final port. Say, “The knowledge of it is only with my Lord. No one else will make it manifest at its appointed time except He” It has become heavy in the heavens and in the earth. It will not come upon you except by surprise. They ask you about it as though you are keen about it. Say, “Its knowledge is only with Allah but most people do not know.”
7:188  Say, “I do not have control for my own soul over any benefit or harm except which Allah pleases and if I had known the unseen, then surely I would have sought for myself abundance from the good and no harm would touch me. I am but a warner and a bringer of glad tidings for a people who believe.”
7:189  He it is who created you from one soul and from it He made its pair so that he may find tranquility with her. So when he covered her, she carried a light burden and she went along with it. But when it got heavy, they ask Allah their Lord that if you grant us a well-formed child, surely we will be of those who offer gratitude.
7:190  But when He gave to them a well-formed child, then they made partners with Him in that which He gave them. Lo! Exalted is Allah above all that they ascribe as partners to Him.
7:191  Do they ascribe as partners to Him that which do not create anything while they themselves are created?
7:192  And they are not able to offer them any help nor can they help themselves.
7:193  And even if you call them to the guidance, they will follow you not. It is all the same for them whether you call them or you remain silent.
7:194  Truly those that you call besides Allah are slaves like unto you so call them and let them respond to you if you indeed are veridical.
7:195  Do they have feet by which they walk or do they have hands by which they hold or do they have eyes by which they see or do they have ears by which they hear? Say, “Call your partners and then plan against Me and then do not give Me any respite.”
7:196  Indeed my ally is Allah who sent down the book and it is He who takes the righteous ones as allies.
7:197  As for those that you call besides Him, they are not able to offer you any help nor can they help themselves.
7:198  And if you call them to the guidance, they will not hear and you view them looking at you while they do not see.
7:199  Take what is easy and ready and exhort onto kindness and turn away from the ignorant ones.
7:200  And if it happens that a prompting from Satan prompts you then seek refuge with Allah. Truly He is All-hearing, All-knowing.
7:201  Truly those who have reverence of Allah, when they are beset with a cloud of doubt from Satan, they remember [Allah] and Lo! They see aright.
7:202  And their brethren lead them further on in the misguidance and then they do not relent.
7:203  And yet, when you [O Prophet] do not bring any sign for them, they say, "Why do you not procure it [from Allah]”? Say, "I only follow whatever is being revealed unto me from my Lord.” This [book] contains clear signs from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy unto a people who believe.
7:204  And when the Quran is recited, do listen to it and be silent so that perhaps you may receive mercy.
7:205  And remember your Lord within yourself in clamour and in silence and short of the loudness in the speech, mornings and evenings, and be not of those who are the oblivious.
7:206  Truly those who are in the presence of your Lord do not feel arrogant to worship Him and they glorify Him and for Him they prostrate.
