3:1  Alif.Lam.Mim.
3:2  God, there is no god but He, the Living, the Self-subsistent.
3:3  He has sent down to you the Book in truth, confirming what was before it, and He sent down the Torah, and the Gospel
3:4  Before as guidance to mankind, and He sent down the criterion. Indeed, those who disbelieve in the signs of God for them is severe punishment, and God is mighty, the owner of retribution.
3:5  Indeed, God, there is nothing hidden from Him in the earth, nor in the heaven;
3:6  He is the one who fashions you in the wombs how He wills. There is no God but He, the Mighty, the Wise.
3:7  He is the one who has revealed to you the Book, some of its verses are decisive, they are the mother of the Book; and others ambiguous; but as for those in whose hearts is deviation, they follow what is ambiguous, desiring dissension, and desiring its interpretation; and none knows its interpretation, except God. And those who are firmly rooted in the knowledge say, 'We believe in it; it is all from our Lord.' And none will remember except possessors of understanding.
3:8  'Our Lord! Do not deviate our hearts after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. Indeed You, You are the Bestower.
3:9  Our Lord! Indeed, You shall gather mankind to a day wherein is no doubt. Indeed, God will not break the promise.'
3:10  Indeed, those who disbelieve, their wealth shall not help them, nor their children, against God at all. Those - they are fuel for the fire.
3:11  Like the custom of Pharaoh's people, and those before them, they said Our signs were lies, so God seized them for their sins, and God is severe in punishment.
3:12  Say to those who disbelieve, 'You shall be overcome and driven together to Hell, an evil bed.'
3:13  Surely you have had a sign in the two parties who met; one party fighting in the way of God, and the other disbelieving; these saw twice the same number as themselves to the eye-sight, and God strengthens with His help whom He wills. Indeed, in that surely is a lesson for those who have eyes.
3:14  Beautified for mankind is the love of lusts - of women, and children, and stored-up heaps of gold and silver, and of marked horses, and cattle, and tilled land; - that is the provision for the worldly life; but God, with Him is the best abode.
3:15  Say, 'Shall I tell you of better than that?' For those who fear, with their Lord are gardens beneath which rivers flow, therein dwelling forever, and pure spouses, grace from God; and God sees His servants
3:16  Those who say, 'Our Lord, indeed we believe, so forgive us our sins, and keep us from the punishment of the fire,' -
3:17  The patient, and the truthful, and the obedient, and those who spend, and those who seek forgiveness before dawn.
3:18  God bears witness that He, there is no god but He, and the angels, and those possessed of knowledge - standing up for justice. There is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise.
3:19  Indeed, the religion with God is the submission, and those who were given the Book did not disagree except after knowledge had come to them, out of envy between themselves. And whoever disbelieves in God's signs, then indeed, God is swift in the reckoning.
3:20  And if they dispute with you, then say, 'I have submitted my face to God, and whosoever follows me.' And say to those who have been given the Book, and the illiterate ones, 'Have you submitted yourselves?' Then if they have submitted, then surely, they are guided; But if they turn away, then only upon you is the communication, and God sees the servants.
3:21  Indeed, those who disbelieve in God's signs, and kill the prophets without right, and kill those among men, who bid what is just, - to them give the glad tidings of painful punishment.
3:22  Those are the ones whose works are void in the world and the hereafter, and they have no helpers.
3:23  Did you not see those who have been given a portion of the Book? They were called unto the Book of God that it may judge between them; then a party of them turn away and they are those who turn away;
3:24  That is because they say, 'The fire shall not touch us, except for a number of days'; and that which they had invented deceived them in their religion.
3:25  So how will it be when We have gathered them together for a day whereof there is no doubt, and when each soul shall be paid what it has earned, and they shall not be wronged?
3:26  Say, 'O God, Master of the kingdom, You give the kingdom to whom You will, and You draw out the kingdom from whom You will, You honour whom You will, and You abase whom You will; in Your hand is the good. Indeed, You are powerful over everything.
3:27  You make the night to enter into the day and You make the day to enter into the night; and You bring forth the living from the dead, and You bring forth the dead from the living. And You give provision to whom You will without reckoning.'
3:28  Those who believe shall not take disbelievers for their patrons, rather than believers, and whoever does that has no part with God at all, unless you fear some danger from them. But God bids you beware of Himself, and to God is the destination.
3:29  Say, 'If you hide that which is in your breasts, or if you show it, God knows it: He knows what is in the heavens and what is in the earth, and God is powerful over everything.'
3:30  The day every soul shall find what it did of good present; and what it did of evil, it will wish that between it and it is a far interval. God bids you beware of Himself, and God is pitying with the servants.
3:31  Say, 'If you would love God, then follow me, God will love you and forgive you your sins, and God is forgiving, compassionate.'
3:32  Say, 'Obey God and the messenger.' But if they turn away - then indeed, God does not love the disbelievers.
3:33  Indeed, God has chosen Adam, and Noah, and Abraham's people and Imran's people above the worlds, -
3:34  Offspring, some of them from others, and God is hearing, knowing.
3:35  When Imran's wife said, 'My Lord, indeed, I have vowed to you what is in my womb, to be dedicated unto you, So receive it from me. Indeed, you are the Hearing, the Knowing.'
3:36  And when she brought it forth she said, 'Indeed, I have brought it forth a female' - and God knew best what she brought forth; and the male is not like the female - 'And I have called her Mary, and I seek refuge in you for her and her offspring from the stoned devil.'
3:37  And her Lord received her with a good reception, and made her grow up with a good growth, and Zachariah took care of her. Whenever Zachariah entered the chamber to her he found with her provision. He said, 'O Mary, how have you this?' She said, 'It is from God. Indeed, God provides for whom He wills without reckoning.'
3:38  There Zachariah called on his Lord, he said, 'My Lord! grant me from yourself a good offspring. Indeed, you are the hearer of prayer.'
3:39  And the angels called him while he was standing praying in the chamber that 'God gives you the good news of John, to confirm a Word from God, - of a chief and a chaste one, and a prophet amongst the righteous.'
3:40  He said, 'My Lord, how can there be for me a boy, and verily, old age has reached me, and my wife is barren?' He said, 'Thus God does what He wills.'
3:41  He said, 'My Lord, make for me a sign.' He said, 'Your sign is that you shall not speak to mankind for three days, except by gesture; and remember your Lord much, and glorify in the evening and the morning.'
3:42  And when the angels said, 'O Mary! Indeed, God has chosen you and purified you, and chosen you above the women of the worlds.
3:43  O Mary! Be obedient to your Lord, and prostrate and bow down with those who bow down.'
3:44  That is of the news of the unseen - We reveal it to you. And you were not by them when they threw their pens which of them should take care of Mary, nor were you by them when they disputed.
3:45  When the angels said, 'O Mary! Indeed, God gives you the glad tidings of a Word from Him; his name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary; regarded in the world and the hereafter and among those brought near.
3:46  And he shall speak to people in the cradle, and in maturity, and shall be among the righteous.'
3:47  She said, 'My Lord! How shall I have a son, and mortal has not touched me?' He said, 'Thus God creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter He only says to it - 'Be,' and it is.
3:48  And He will teach him the Book and wisdom, and the Torah, and the Gospel,
3:49  And he shall be a messenger to the children of Israel: "That I have come to you, with a sign from your Lord, that I will create for you out of clay like the form of a bird, and I will blow into it and it shall become a bird by God's permission; and I will heal the blind from birth, and the leper; and I will bring the dead to life by God's permission; and I will tell you what you eat and what you store up in your houses. Indeed, in that is a sign for you if you are believers.
3:50  And confirming what is before me of the Torah, and to make lawful for you some of that which was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear God and obey me.
3:51  Indeed, God is my Lord, and your Lord, so worship Him: - this is the straight path."'
3:52  And when Jesus perceived their disbelief, He said, 'Who are my helpers for God?' The disciples said, 'We are God's helpers. We believe in God, so bear witness that we are those who submit.
3:53  Our Lord, we have believed in what you have revealed, and we have followed the messenger, so write us down with those who bear witness.'
3:54  And they plotted, and God plotted, and God is the best of plotters.
3:55  And when God said, 'O Jesus! Indeed, I will make you die and will raise you to me and will clear you of those who disbelieve, and will make those who follow you above those who disbelieve, to the Day of Resurrection, then to Me is your return. And I will decide between you concerning that in which you were disagreeing.
3:56  And as for those who disbelieve, then I will punish them with grievous punishment in the world and the hereafter, and they shall have no helpers.'
3:57  And as for those who believe and do good works, then He will pay them their reward in full. And God does not love the wrongdoers.
3:58  That is what We recite to you of the signs and of the wise reminder.
3:59  Indeed, the likeness of Jesus with God is as the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then He said to him, 'Be,' and he was; -
3:60  The truth from your Lord, so do not be of those who are in doubt.
3:61  And whoever argues with you concerning him, after what has come to you of knowledge, then say, 'Come, let us call our sons and your sons, and our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves: then let us humbly pray so lay God's curse upon the liars.'
3:62  Indeed, this surely it is the true story. And there is no god except God. And indeed, God, He is the Mighty, the Wise;
3:63  But if they turn back, then indeed, God knows the evildoers.
3:64  Say, 'O people of the Book, come to an equal word between us and you, that we will not worship except God, nor associate anything with Him, nor some of us take some for lords besides God.' But if they turn away, then say, 'Bear witness that we are those who submit.'
3:65  O people of the Book, why do you dispute about Abraham, when the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Do you not understand?
3:66  Here you are, disputing about what you have some knowledge of; why then do you dispute about what you have no knowledge of? And God knows and you do not know.
3:67  Abraham was not a Jew, nor a Christian, but he was an upright man who had submitted, and he was not of the idolaters.
3:68  Indeed, the people most worthy of Abraham are those who follow him and this prophet, and those who believe; - And God is the patron of the believers.
3:69  A party of the people of the Book wish they could lead you astray, but they only lead themselves astray, and they do not perceive.
3:70  O people of the Book! Why do you disbelieve in the signs of God, while you witness?
3:71  O people of the Book! Why do you clothe the truth with falsehood and hide the truth while you know?
3:72  And a party of the people of the Book say, 'Believe in what was revealed to those who believe at the beginning of the day, and disbelieve it at its end, perhaps they will return;
3:73  And do not believe except one who follows your religion.' Say, 'Indeed, the guidance is God's guidance - that one should be given the like of what you have been given, or that they may dispute with you before your Lord.' Say: 'Indeed, grace is in the hand of God, He gives it to whom He wills; and God is immense, knowing.'
3:74  He selects for his mercy whom he wills; and God is the possessor of great grace.
3:75  And of the people of the Book is he who, if you entrust him with a weight of treasure, he will return it to you. And among them is he who, if you entrust him with a dinar, he will not return it to you unless you keep standing over him. That is because they say, 'We owe no duty to the Gentiles;' and they tell a lie against God, while they know.
3:76  Nay, whoever fulfils his covenant and fears, - then indeed, God loves those who fear.
3:77  Indeed, those who sell God's covenant and their oaths for a little price, these have no share in the hereafter. And God will not speak to them, and will not look upon them on the Day of Resurrection, and will not purify them; and for them is painful punishment.
3:78  And indeed, among them surely is a party who distort the Book with their tongues, that you may think it is from the Book, but it is not from the Book. And they say, 'It is from God,' but it is not from God, and they tell a lie against God, while they know.
3:79  It is not for a mortal that God should give him the Book, and the wisdom, and the prophethood, then he should say to mankind: 'Be servants for me besides God.' But, 'Be worshippers of the Lord for that you were teaching the Book and for that you were studying.'
3:80  And he does not order you to take the angels and the prophets for lords; shall he order you to disbelieve, after you are those who submit?
3:81  And when God took the covenant from the prophets 'Surely what I have given you of the Book and wisdom. Then shall come to you a messenger confirming that which is with you. You shall believe in him and you shall help him.' He said, 'Are you resolved and have you taken My covenant on that?' They said, 'We are resolved.' He said, 'Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses.'
3:82  But whoever turns away after that, then those - they are the disobedient.
3:83  So is it other than the religion of God they desire, and to Him submits whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and to Him they shall be returned.
3:84  Say, 'We believe in God, and what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes and what was given to Moses, and Jesus, and the prophets from their Lord, - we make no distinction between any of them, - and we are those who submit to Him.'
3:85  And whoever seeks other than the submission for a religion, it shall not be accepted from him, and he shall, in the hereafter, be among the losers.
3:86  How shall God guide people who disbelieved after believing and bearing witness that the messenger is true, and the clear proofs had come to them? And God does not guide the wrongdoing people.
3:87  Those, their reward is that on them is the curse of God and of the angels and of men, all together,
3:88  In it dwelling forever - The punishment shall not be lightened for them, nor shall they be respited;
3:89  Except those who repent after that, and do right, for indeed, God is forgiving, compassionate.
3:90  Indeed, those who disbelieve after believing, then increase in disbelief - their repentance shall not be accepted; and those - they are those who err.
3:91  Indeed, those who disbelieve and die in disbelief, there shall not be accepted from any one of them the earth-full of gold, though he should give it as a ransom. For them is painful punishment, and they shall have no helpers.
3:92  You will not attain righteousness until you spend of what you love. And what thing you spend, then indeed, God knows of it.
3:93  All food was lawful to the children of Israel except what Israel made unlawful to himself before that the Torah was revealed. Say, 'So bring the Torah and recite it, if you are truthful.'
3:94  And whoever forges against God a lie, after that, then those - they are the wrongdoers.
3:95  Say, 'God spoke truly, then follow the faith of Abraham, the upright. He was not of the idolaters.'
3:96  Indeed, the first House established for mankind was surely that at Bakkah, a blessing and a guidance to the worlds.
3:97  In it are clear signs, - Abraham's standing place, and whoever enters it is safe. And there is due to God from mankind a pilgrimage unto the House, whoever can find a way to it. And whoever disbelieves - then indeed, God is independent of the worlds.
3:98  Say, 'O people of the Book! Why do you disbelieve in God's signs, while God is witness of what you do?'
3:99  Say, 'O people of the Book! Why do you turn from the way of God him who believes, seeking to make it crooked, while you are witnesses? And God is not heedless of what you do.'
3:100  O you who believe! If you obey a party of those who have been given the Book, they will turn you after your faith, to disbelievers.
3:101  And how can you disbelieve while to you are recited the signs of God, and among you is His messenger? And whoever takes tight hold of God, then surely he is guided to a straight way.
3:102  O you who believe! Fear God as He should be feared, and definitely do not die except while you are those who submit.
3:103  And take tight hold of God's rope all together, and do not separate; and remember the favour of God upon you, when you were enemies and He made friendship between your hearts, and on the morrow you were, by His favour, brothers. You were on the edge of a pit of fire, but He rescued you from it. Thus does God make clear to you His signs; perhaps you may be guided;
3:104  And that there may be of you a nation who will call to the good, and bid what is reasonable and forbid what is wrong; and those - they are the prosperous.
3:105  And do not be like those who separated and disagreed after the clear proofs came to them; And those for them is great punishment,
3:106  On the day faces shall be whitened and faces shall be blackened. As for those whose faces are blackened, - 'Did you disbelieve after your faith, then taste the punishment because you disbelieved.'
3:107  But as for those whose faces are whitened, then in God's mercy, they shall dwell therein forever.
3:108  Those are the signs of God. We recite them to you in truth, and God does not desire injustice to the worlds.
3:109  God's is what is in the heavens and what is in the earth, and unto God affairs return.
3:110  You are the best of nations brought forth for mankind. You bid what is reasonable, and forbid what is wrong, and believe in God. And if the people of the Book had believed, surely it would have been better for them. There are believers among them, though most of them are disobedient.
3:111  They shall not harm you except a hurt; and if they fight you, they will turn to you the backs, then they shall not be helped.
3:112  They are smitten with abasement wherever they are found, except for a rope from God and a rope from men; and they draw on themselves wrath from God. They are smitten with poverty; that is because they disbelieved in God's signs, and slew the prophets without right. That is because they were rebellious and used to transgress.
3:113  They are not the same. Of the people of the Book there is a nation standing, reciting God's signs the hours of the night, and they prostrate.
3:114  They believe in God, and the Last Day, and bid what is reasonable, and forbid what is wrong, and hasten in good works; and these are among the righteous.
3:115  And what they do of good, they will not be denied it; and God knows those who fear.
3:116  Indeed, those who disbelieved, their wealth will not avail them anything against God nor their children; and those are the fellows of the fire, they will dwell in it for ever.
3:117  The likeness of what they expend in this, the worldly life, is as the likeness of a wind wherein is a cold blast that falls upon the tillage of a people who have wronged themselves and destroys it. And God has not wronged them, but they wrong themselves.
3:118  O you who believe! Do not take as intimates others than you; they will not fail to ruin you; they wish you would have hardship, - indeed, hatred is shown by their mouths; but what their breasts conceal is greater still. Certainly We have made clear to you the signs, if you will understand.
3:119  Lo! You are those who love them, and they love you not; and you believe in the Book, all of it. And when they meet you they say, 'We believe;' and when they go aside they bite their fingertips at you through rage. Say, 'Die in your rage. Indeed, God is knower of what the breasts own.'
3:120  If good touches you it grieves them, but if disaster strikes you they rejoice at it; and if you are patient and fear, their plot will not harm you anything. Indeed, God is surrounding what they do.
3:121  And when you set forth early from your people to settle for the believers a camp to fight; - and God is hearing, knowing; -
3:122  When two parties of you were on the point of showing cowardice; but God was their patron, and upon God the believers should rely.
3:123  And certainly God helped you at Badr while you were weak; so fear God, perhaps you may give thanks.
3:124  When you said to the believers, 'Does it not suffice you that your Lord assists you with three thousand of the angels sent down?
3:125  Yes, if you are patient and fear, and they come upon you suddenly, this your Lord will assist you with five thousand of the angels of mark.'
3:126  God only made this as good news for you, and that thereby your hearts may be at rest, - and victory comes only from God, the Mighty, the Wise -
3:127  To cut off a part of those who disbelieve, or abase them, so they turn back disappointed.
3:128  Nothing is for you of the affair, whether He turn towards them or punishes them; for indeed, they are wrongdoers.
3:129  God's is what is in the heavens and what is in the earth. He forgives whom He wills, and punishes whom He wills; and God is forgiving, compassionate.
3:130  O you who believe! Do not devour usury doubly doubled, but fear God, perhaps you may be prosperous;
3:131  And fear the fire which is prepared for the disbelievers,
3:132  And obey God and the messenger, perhaps you may get mercy.
3:133  And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord, and for a garden, the breadth of which is as the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who fear: -
3:134  Those who expend in ease and hardship, and those who repress their rage, and those who pardon men; God loves the good-doers.
3:135  And those who when they have done an immorality or wronged themselves, remember God, and ask forgiveness for their sins, - and who forgives sins but God? - and do not persist in what they did, while they know.
3:136  Those - their reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and gardens beneath which rivers flow, therein dwelling forever; and excellent is the reward of the workers.
3:137  Indeed incidents have passed before you so travel in the earth and see how was the end of those who denied.
3:138  This is a clear speech for mankind, and a guidance and a warning for those who fear.
3:139  And do not faint nor grieve, for you shall have the upperhand if you are believers.
3:140  If a wound touches you, a wound like it has touched the people; and those are the days which We make to alternate amongst mankind that God may know those who believe, and may take from you witnesses, and God does not love the wrongdoers;
3:141  And that God may assay those who believe, and blot out the disbelievers.
3:142  Or do you think that you will enter the Garden and God not know those of you who have struggled, or know the patient?
3:143  And certainly, you wished for death before you met it. So indeed you have seen it and you look.
3:144  Muhammad is not except a messenger; certainly messengers have passed away before him; what if he dies or is killed, will you turn back on your heels? And whoever turns back on his heels does no harm to God at all; and soon God will reward the thankful.
3:145  And it is not for a soul to die, except by God's permission written down for a determined time; and whoever wishes for the reward of the world - We will give him of it, and whoever wishes for the reward of the hereafter - We will give him of it, and soon We will reward the thankful.
3:146  And how many a prophet with him fought many devoted men. They did not faint at what befell them in God's way. Nor were they weak, nor did they demean themselves. And God loves the patient.
3:147  And their word was only to say, 'Our Lord, forgive us our sins and our extravagance in our affairs; and make firm our feet, and help us against the disbelieving people.'
3:148  So God gave them the reward of the world, and the good reward of the hereafter; and God loves the good-doers.
3:149  O you who believe! If you obey those who disbelieve, they will turn you back on your heels, and you will turn back losers.
3:150  Nay, God is your sovereign, and He is the best of helpers.
3:151  Soon We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they associate with God that which He has sent down no authority. And their abode is the fire, and evil is the abode of the wrongdoers.
3:152  God has truly kept His promise to you, when you routed them by His permission, until when you showed cowardice, and quarrelled about the matter, and rebelled, after He had shown you what you love. Among you are those who love the world, and among you are those who love the hereafter. Then He turned you away from them to try you; and surely He has pardoned you, and God is possessor of grace upon the believers, -
3:153  When you went up and looked not round upon anyone, and the messenger was calling you from your rear. So He rewarded you with distress upon distress that you should not grieve for what you missed nor for what befell you. And God is aware of what you do.
3:154  Then He sent down upon you after distress safety, - drowsiness overcoming one party of you, and one party getting anxious about themselves, suspecting about God other than the truth, with the suspicion of the ignorant. They said, 'Have we any part in the affair?' Say, 'Indeed, the affair belongs wholly to God.' They hide in themselves what they will not show to you. They say, 'Had we had any part in the affair we should not have been killed here.' Say, 'If you were in your houses, surely those against whom slaughter was written down would have gone forth to their places of death;' that God may try what is in your breasts and assay what is in your hearts. And God is knower of what the breasts own.
3:155  Indeed, those of you who turned back on the day when the two armies met, it was the devil who made them slip for some of that which they had earned. And surely God has pardoned them; indeed, God is forgiving, clement.
3:156  O you who believe! Do not be like those who disbelieved and said about their brothers when they travelled in the earth or went out to fight, 'If they had been with us, they would not have died or been killed,' so God makes that regret in their hearts. And God gives life and death; and God sees what you do.
3:157  And if you are killed in God's way or die, surely forgiveness from God and mercy are better than what they amass;
3:158  And if you die or are killed, surely to God you shall be assembled.
3:159  So by the mercy of God, you were gentle with them. And if you had been harsh and hard of heart, surely they would have dispersed from around you. But pardon them, and ask forgiveness for them, and consult them in the affair. And when you have decided, then rely upon God. Indeed, God loves those who rely.
3:160  If God helps you, none can overcome you; but if He forsakes you, who then can help you after Him? And upon God let the believers rely.
3:161  And it is not for a prophet to cheat; and whoever cheats shall bring what he has cheated on the Day of Resurrection. Then shall each soul be paid in full what it has earned, and they shall not be wronged.
3:162  Is he who follows the pleasure of God, like him who has drawn on himself anger from God, whose abode is Hell? And evil is the destination.
3:163  They are in ranks with God; and God sees what they do.
3:164  God was surely gracious to the believers, when He sent amongst them a messenger from themselves, to recite to them His signs, and purify them, and teach them the Book and wisdom, although they were before in clear error.
3:165  Or when an accident befalls you, surely you have fallen on twice as much, you say, 'How is this?' Say, 'It is from yourselves. Indeed, God is powerful over everything.'
3:166  And what befell you the day the two armies met, was by God's permission; that He might know the believers,
3:167  And that He might know those who behaved hypocritically; for it was said to them, 'Come, fight in God's way, or repel;' they said, 'If we knew how to fight we would surely follow you.' - They were that day nearer to disbelief than to faith. They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts, and God knows best what they hide.
3:168  Those who, while they sat, said of their brothers, 'If they had obeyed us they would not have been killed.' Say, 'Then avert death from yourselves, if you are truthful.'
3:169  And do not count those who are killed in the way of God as dead, Nay, they are living with their Lord; - provided for,
3:170  Rejoicing in what God has given them of His grace, and being glad for those who have not joined them yet, - those left behind them; that there is no fear on them, and they will not grieve;
3:171  Glad at favour from God and grace, and that God does not waste the reward of the believers.
3:172  Those who responded to the call of God and of the messenger after the wound had befallen them. For those who do good among them and fear God, is a great reward.
3:173  Those to whom the people said, 'Indeed, the people have certainly gathered against you, so fear them.' But it increased them in faith, and they said, 'God is enough for us; and excellent is the trustee.'
3:174  So they returned with favour from God and grace; no evil touched them; and they followed the pleasure of God, and God is a possessor of great grace.
3:175  Only that the devil, he frightens his patrons. So do not fear them, and fear Me if you are believers.
3:176  And do not be grieved, by those who hasten in disbelief. Indeed, they cannot hurt God at all. God wills not to make for them a portion in the hereafter, and for them is a great punishment.
3:177  Indeed, those who purchase disbelief for faith, they do not hurt God at all, and for them is painful punishment.
3:178  And let not those who disbelieved think that We give respite to them is good for them; We only give respite to them that they may increase in sin. And for them is shameful punishment.
3:179  God would not leave the believers in the state which you are in, until He discerns the bad from the good. And God would not inform you of the unseen, but God chooses of His messengers whom He wills. So believe in God and His messengers. And if you believe and fear, then for you is a great reward.
3:180  And let not those who are niggard of what God has given them of His grace, count that it is best for them; - nay, it is worse for them. What they have been niggard of shall be a collar round their necks on the Day of Resurrection. And God's is the heritage of the heavens and the earth, and God is aware of what you do.
3:181  Certainly, God heard the speech of those who said, 'Indeed, God is poor and we are rich.' Soon We will write down what they said, and their killing the prophets without right, and We shall say, 'Taste the punishment of the burning!'
3:182  That is for what your hands have sent forth; - and God is not unjust to servants, -
3:183  Those who say, 'Indeed, God has covenanted with us that we should not believe in a messenger until he gives us a sacrifice which fire devours.' Say, 'Certainly messengers before me came to you with the clear proofs and with the one you said; why then did you kill them, if you are truthful?'
3:184  And if they deny you, then certainly messengers before you were denied; they came with the clear proofs, and the scriptures, and the illuminating Book.
3:185  Every soul shall taste of death; and you shall only be paid in full your hire on the Day of Resurrection. Then whoever is forced away from the fire and brought into the Garden is indeed successful; the worldly life is not except a provision of deception.
3:186  You shall surely be tried in your wealth, and in yourselves, and surely you will definitely hear from those who were given the Book before you, and from those who associate partners with God, much harm. But if you are patient and fear, then indeed, that is one of the determined affairs.
3:187  And when God took a covenant from those who had been given the Book: 'You shall certainly make it clear to the people, and not conceal it.' But they threw it behind their backs and exchanged it for a small price - and evil is what they buy.
3:188  Do not think that those who rejoice in what they have produced, and love to be praised for what they have not done, - so do not think that they are in safety from the punishment, - and for them is painful punishment.
3:189  And God's is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is powerful over everything.
3:190  Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of the night and the day, are surely signs for possessors of understanding;
3:191  Those who remember God standing and sitting and on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth. 'Our Lord! You have not created this in vain. Glory be to you; So keep us from the punishment of the fire.
3:192  Our Lord! Indeed, whomsoever You have made to enter the fire, then surely you have disgraced him; and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.
3:193  Our Lord! Indeed, we heard a caller calling to the faith, 'Believe in your Lord,' and we believe. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and cover from us our evil deeds and let us die with the righteous.
3:194  Our Lord! And give us what You have promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection; indeed, You do not break the promise.'
3:195  And their Lord answers them: 'Indeed, I waste not the works of a worker amongst you, male or female, - some of you are from some. So those who fled, and were driven out of their homes, and were harmed in My way, and fought and were killed, surely I will definitely cover from them their evil deeds, and surely I will definitely make them enter into gardens beneath which rivers flow.' A reward from God; and God, with Him is the best reward.
3:196  Let it not deceive you that those who disbelieve go to and fro in the cities.
3:197  A little enjoyment, then their abode is Hell; an evil bed.
3:198  But those who fear their Lord, for them are gardens beneath which rivers flow, therein dwelling forever, - an entertainment from God; and that which is with God is best for the righteous.
3:199  And indeed, of the people of the Book are some who believe in God, and in what has been revealed to you, and what has been revealed to them, humble to God, they do not exchange the signs of God for a little price. Those, for them is their reward with their Lord; indeed, God is swift in the reckoning.
3:200  O you who believe! Be patient and vie in being patient, and be on the alert, and fear God, perhaps you may prosper.
