3:1  Alif-Lãm-Mĩm.
3:2  Allâh! There is no other god beside Him. He is the Ever-Living, the One Who sustains and keeps safe all that which exists.
3:3  He is the one Who has revealed to you the Book with (full Knowledge of) truth, verifying that which is before It. He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
3:4  Aforetime as the True Source of Enlightenment for the people. He also revealed the Criterion. Verily, those who persistently refuse to give credence to the Revelation Knowledge which Allâh has revealed will be subjected to an extremely severe punishment (in the Hereafter). Lo! Allâh is Almighty, the Lord of Retribution.
3:5  Indeed, nothing is hidden from Allâh whether on the earth or in the heavens.
3:6  He is the One Who shapes you in the wombs however He wills: for there is One True God; and there is none other but He: the Almighty- the All-wise.
3:7  It is He Who has revealed to you the Book of which some Verses are completely intelligible - they are the Essence of the Book - while others are allegorical. Those whose hearts harbour doubts follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and seeking an interpretation (according to their own whims). But none grasps their full meaning except Allâh. Those who are firmly and deeply planted in the spiritual knowledge say: ‘We believe in the Qur'ān with absolute certainty- It is all from our Lord.’ But none is paying attention to (this fact) except for those who are highly intelligent people.
3:8  (They say): "Our Lord, let not our hearts be deviated (from the Truth) after You have already given us the awesome opportunity for receiving salvation. And bestow upon us Mercy from Your Presence. Indeed, You are the Most Generous Benefactor.
3:9  Our Lord, it is You Who will gather all the people for a day whereon is no doubt. Most certainly Allâh never fails to fulfill His promise.’
3:10  Behold, as for those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth- neither their wealth nor their children will avail them aught against (the wrath of) Allâh. It is they who will be the fuel for the Fire.
3:11  (Their fate will be like that of ) the people of Pharaoh and those who were before them. They all denied the Revelation Knowledge which We have revealed, so Allâh seized them for their iniquitous deeds. Allâh is indeed extremely severe in punishment.
3:12  Say to those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth: ‘Soon you will be overpowered and driven to Gehenna - what a dreadful place to abide!’
3:13  Indeed, there was a Sign (of Allâh’s power & Glory) for you in the two armies that met in a battle. One fighting in the cause of Allâh and the other persisting in denial. Those who live by the Faith saw with their very eyes that their enemy were double their number. But Allâh supports with His victory whom He wills. Surely in this, there is a lesson for people of deep spiritual insight.
3:14  Beautified for people is the love of worldly desires: women, children, stored-up heaps of gold and silver, freeze branding horses, cattle, and arable land. These are the pleasures of the worldly life, but Allâh has with Him the best bode- (Al-Jannah).
3:15  Say: ‘Shall I inform you of what is better than those (worldly pleasures)?. For those who act piously will have gardens in the presence of their Lord under which rivers flow to abide therein, and purified spouses and contentment from Allâh’. He is All-Seer of the (His) servants.
3:16  Those who say: ‘Our Lord! We have come to Faith, therefore, deliver us from all the consequences of our iniquitous deeds and guard us against the torment of the Fire.’
3:17  It is they who are patient, truthful, obedient, philanthropist, and who beseech forgiveness during the last third of the night.
3:18  Allâh (Himself) bears witness that there is no other god beside Him, and so do the Angels and those who have spiritual gift of knowledge, maintaining constantly and uniquely His creations with justice. There is no other god beside Him: the Almighty- the All-Wise.
3:19  Indeed, the upright religion in the sight of Allâh is Islam. Those who were given the Scripture did not differ therefrom except through jealous animosity of each other, till the knowledge of Truth had been given to them. Whoever refuses to give credence to what Allâh has revealed, then surely Allâh is Swift in taking account.
3:20  So If it happens that they argue with you, say: ‘I have submitted my whole self to Allâh, and (so have) those who follow me.’ And ask those who were given the Scripture and the illiterate ones: ‘Have you submitted yourselves to Allâh?’. If it happens that they submit, then they will be walking on the right Path to salvation. But if they take no heed, then (let them know that) your sole duty is to convey the Message. Lo! Allâh is All-Seer of (His) servants.
3:21  Indeed, those who refuse to give credence to the Revelation Knowledge which We have revealed, kill the Prophets wrongfully, and slay those among men who enjoin justice - break the news to them that a painful punishment awaits them (in the Hereafter).
3:22  They are the ones whose deeds have been nullified in this worldly life, as well as in the Hereafter. And for them there will be no helpers.
3:23  Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture?. Yet when they are called to the Book of Allâh (the Qur’ān) in order to judge between them, a party of them turns away from It (in a very repulsive manner).
3:24  That is because they say: ‘Never will the Fire touch us except for a few days.’ They have been deluded in their belief by their wishful lying.
3:25  Then how (terrifying) will it be when We bring them all together to an Inevitable Day- when every human person will be paid in full according to what he has earned, and none shall be wronged.
3:26  Say: ‘O’ Allâh, Lord of Sovereignty, You give authority to whomever You please, and You take away the authority from whomever You please. You give honor and prestige to whomever you please. And You humiliate whomever you please. And whatever is veracious lies in Your hand. Indeed, You are Most Capable of doing whatsoever You desire.
3:27  You cause the night to pass into the day, and You cause the day to pass into the night. You bring forth the living from the dead. And You bring forth the dead from the living. And You give the means of subsistence to whomever You please without measure’.
3:28  Those who live by Faith should not take those who are spiritually dead and blind as trusted allies instead of the Monotheistic Believers- and whoever does so will have no connection with Allâh- unless it is a precaution in guarding himself against them. Allâh warns you against His divine retribution. And to Allâh is the journey’s end.
3:29  Say: ‘Whether you conceal what is in your hearts or bring it to light, Allâh has full knowledge of it. For He has full knowledge of whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Allâh is Most Capable of doing whatsoever He desires’.
3:30  (Beware of) a day when every Human Person will be confronted with all the good that he has done and with all the evil that he has done. As for his iniquitous deeds, he will wish that there were a great distance between him and them. And Allâh warns you of His wrath (against ungodliness and unrighteousness). And Allâh is Full of Kindness to His servants.
3:31  Say: ‘If you demonstrate your own love for Allâh, then follow me. Allâh will demonstrate His own love for you and deliver you from all the consequences of your iniquitous deeds. Lo! Allâh is Oft-Forgiving- Most Merciful’.
3:32  Say: ‘(O’ ye who seek salvation), Yield (to the Commandments of) Allâh and (to what He has revealed to) His Messenger’. If they turn away, then (they will need to) know that truly Allâh does not demonstrate His own love for those who are spiritually dead and blind.
3:33  Truly, Allâh chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of ‘Imrân above all people of their time.
3:34  They were offspring of one another. Allâh is the All-Hearer- the All-Knowing.
3:35  And (mention), when the wife of ‘Imrān said: "My Lord! I vow to You that I will let what is in my womb be wholly devoted to Your service, so accept this from me. Most certainly You are the All-Hearer-the All-Knowing’.
3:36  And when she gave birth to her she said: "Lord, I have given birth to a baby girl - Allâh has full knowledge of what she had given birth to - ‘and the male is not like the female. I have named her Mary, and I earnestly seek Your protection for her and for her offspring from Satan- the accursed one".
3:37  So her Lord accepted her with full approval and made her grow up in a virtuous environment - entrusting her to the care of Zachariah- Whenever Zachariah entered the sanctuary to (see) her, he found her being supplied with sustenance. He asked: "O’ Mary, Whence comes this to you?". She answered: "It is from Allâh. Most certainly Allâh gives the means of subsistence to whom He pleases without measure".
3:38  There where Zachariah implored and prayed to his Lord, saying: "O’ my Lord, grant me from You a virtuous offspring. Most certainly You are the All-Hearer of supplication".
3:39  So the Angels called him while he was standing in prayer in the sanctuary: "Allâh announces to you the glad tidings of (a son whose name is) John, (coming) to confirm a word from Allâh. He will be a noble leader, a chaste and a Prophet among the righteous”.
3:40  He said: "My Lord, how can I have a son when I am already senile and my wife is barren?". Then one (of the Angels replied): ‘Such is the wise will of Allâh. And Allâh does whatsoever he is pleased to do’.
3:41  He said: "O’ my Lord, give me a Sign”. He said: "Your Sign is that you will not speak to the people for three days except by gesture. So celebrate the praise of your Lord frequently, glorify Him and declare His glory in the early mornings and in the evenings".
3:42  Behold! The Angels said: "O’ Mary! Surely! Allâh has preferred you, purified you and chosen you above all women of your time”.
3:43  "O’ Mary! Be an obedient devotee of the Lord. Prostrate yourself before Him and bow down (in prayer) with those who bow down!”.
3:44  This is part of the tidings of the unseen, which We reveal to you. You were not present with them when they cast lots to decide who should take Mary to his custody, nor were you present with them when they argued about it.
3:45  Behold! The Angels said: "O' Mary! Lo! Allâh announces to you the glad tidings of a Word from Him, whose name will be Christ, Jesus son of Mary, greatly honored in this worldly life and the Hereafter, and of those who are brought near (to Allâh).
3:46  He will speak to the people in the cradle and (preach to them) when he will be a matured man. And He will be of the righteous”.
3:47  She said: "My Lord, how can I have a child when no man has touched me?". (The Angel) said: "Such is the (wise) will of Allâh. He creates whatever He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it: ‘Be’ and there it is.
3:48  He will teach him the (spirit of) wisdom and the Book: the Torah and the Gospel.
3:49  And He (appoint him) an Apostle to the Children of Israel, (saying) 'I have come to you with Revelation Knowledge from your Lord: I can make for you, by the will of Allâh, a bird from clay, and when I breathe into it, it will become a living bird. By the will of Allâh, I can heal the blind and the leper, and raise the dead to life. And I will predict what you eat and what you store in your houses”. Surely in this, there is a Sign (of Allâh’s power & glory) for you, if you were really living a life of Genuine Faith.
3:50  “(And I have come) to authenticate what was before me of the Torah, as well as to make lawful some of that which was forbidden to you. And I will perform plenty of irrefutable Signs for you. Now, therefore, act piously towards Allâh and yield to what Allâh has revealed to me.
3:51  Most certainly Allâh is my Lord and your Lord. Now, therefore, worship Him (in the way He wants us to worship Him). This is the upright Faith (which you must adhere)".
3:52  Nevertheless, when Jesus felt their inclination towards ingratitude, he said: "Who will support me in cause of Allâh?”. The Disciples replied: “We are the (passionate) supporters for the cause of Allâh. And we do affirm our faith in Allâh. (O’ Jesus), bear witness that we have submitted our whole selves (to Allâh)”.
3:53  And they Prayed: “Our Lord! We place our Faith in what you have revealed, and followed the Messenger, (Jesus Christ), so enroll us with those who bear witness".
3:54  (The impious) hatched a plot (to murder Jesus). But Allâh had a different plan for him. For Allâh is the Best One in setting up a plan.
3:55  Behold! Allâh said: "O’ Jesus, indeed I will take and raise you to Myself, purifying you from (the blasphemy) of those who have no tendency to live by Faith. And I will make those who follow you (in submission to Me) superior over those who have no tendency to live by Faith until the Day of Resurrection. Then you are all bound to return to Me, and then I will judge between you concerning that in which you were inclined to differ”.
3:56  As for those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth, I will chastise them with an extremely severe punishment in this worldly life, as well as in the Hereafter. And they will have no helpers.
3:57  But for those who live by Faith and strive to do righteous acts (in this worldly life), Allâh will pay them their reward in full. And Allâh does not demonstrate His own love for those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
3:58  This is what We recite to you of the Revelation Knowledge and of the Message of wisdom.
3:59  Indeed, the likeness of Jesus in the sight of Allâh is as the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, and then said to him: "Be" and there he is.
3:60  This is the (Absolute) Truth from your Lord. Now, therefore, do not be of those who harbor doubts.
3:61  So whoever argues with you concerning (Jesus) after you have received the full knowledge of the Truth, say: "Come! Let us gather our sons and yours, our women and yours, ourselves and yours. Then let us humbly pray and invoke the curse of Allâh be upon those who invent lying”.
3:62  Indeed, this Qur’ān is the upright narration: There is only One True God. And there is none other but Allâh. Most certainly He is the Almighty, the All-Wise.
3:63  But if it happens that they take no heed, then (let them be sure that) Allâh is All-Aware of those who indulge in corruption.
3:64  Say: "O’ People of the Book! Let us come to an equitable agreement between us: we will worship none but Allâh. Ascribe no partner to Him. And none of us will take others for lords beside Allâh". But if they walk away, then say: "Bear witness that we have already submitted our whole selves (to Allâh)”.
3:65  O’ People of the Book! why do you argue concerning (the Faith of) Abraham?. The Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Don't you have conscious thoughts at least in this sense?.
3:66  Here you are arguing about that whereof you have some knowledge. Why do you then argue about that of which you have no knowledge?. And Allâh has full knowledge of that which you cannot encompass in knowledge.
3:67  Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian. He was a Monotheist who had a deep, pure, focused Faith in Allâh. And he was not among the Polytheists.
3:68  Verily the people who have the best claim to Abraham are his followers, and this Prophet (Muhammad), and those who adhere to Monotheistic Faith. Allâh is the True Guardian of the Monotheistic Believers of the Unfeigned Faith.
3:69  There is a group among the People of the Book, who would like to see you deviate from the path of truth. But they will not be able to deceive anyone into going away from the path of truth except themselves. But they lack the ability to perceive (this truth).
3:70  O’ People of the Book! why do you refuse to give credence to what Allâh has revealed (to His Messenger) when you bear witness (to its truth)?.
3:71  O’ People of the Book! why do you confound truth with falsehood and deliberately conceal the truth?.
3:72  A group among the People of the Book says (to each other): "Do believe in that which is revealed to those who adhere to Islamic Monotheism in the morning and reject it in the evening so that they may renounce their Faith.
3:73  Then trust none (with this secrete) except those who follow your own whims". Say: "Surely, the only Right Path to Salvation is the Path of Knowing Allâh (Islamic Monotheism). (They also said): “Do not believe that anyone will ever be given the Revelation in the Knowledge of Allâh like what you were given, or that anyone will ever dispute with you before your Lord”. Say: "Verily all bounty is in the hand of Allâh. He grants it to whomever He wills (of His servants). Allâh is All- Embracing- All-Knowing.
3:74  He singles out for His Mercy whomever He wills. And Allâh is the Lord of infinite bounty".
3:75  Among the People of the Book are some who, if entrusted with a stack of gold, will readily return it. Yet there are others who, if entrusted with a single dīnār, will not return it unless you constantly stand demanding. That is because they say: “We have no duty towards the Gentiles". They deliberately attribute falsehood to Allâh.
3:76  Nay, but he whoever fulfills his commitment and acts piously (can rest assured that) Allâh demonstrates His own love for the Pious.
3:77  Indeed, as for those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the covenant of Allâh and their Oaths in favour of small gain, they will have no share in the Hereafter. And Allâh neither speak to them, nor look at them, nor purify them Day of Resurrection. And they will be subjected to an extremely painful punishment.
3:78  Verily there is a party among them distorting the Scripture with their tongues so that you may think it is part of the Scripture. But it is not actually in the Book. They say: “It is from Allâh”- but it is not form Allâh. Lo! They deliberately attribute falsehood to Allâh.
3:79  It is not possible for any human being to whom Allah has given the Scripture, the authority of moral judgments and the Gift of Prophecy to say to the people: "Be my worshipers instead of Allâh's". Rather he would say: "Be Spiritual leaders in order to show the way in knowing the Lord because of what you used to teach of the Scripture and because of what you have studied".
3:80  And he would never command you to take the Angels or the Prophets as gods. Would he bid you to renounce your Faith and to yield to your own whims after you have already submitted your whole selves to Allâh?.
3:81  And (mention) when Allâh made a covenant with the prophets, (saying) "Whatever I give you of the book and wisdom and then there comes to you a Messenger confirming the Truth which you possess already, you must believe in him and give him support". Then He asked them: “Do you acknowledge and accept my covenant?". They replied: "Yes, we do indeed" .He said: "Then bear witness. And I am with you among the witnesses."
3:82  And whosoever turns away after this, they are ones who indulge in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.
3:83  What! Do they desire a religion other than that of Allâh? To Him has submitted whosoever is in the heavens and on the earth, willingly or unwillingly. And to Him shall they be returned.
3:84  Say: "We believe in the Absolute Oneness of Allâh, in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Descendants, and in what was vouchsafed to Moses, Jesus and the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between them. And to Him do we fully submit".
3:85  And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted from him. And he will be in the Hereafter among those who are doomed to perdition.
3:86  How shall Allâh inspire a people who have voluntarily and consciously renounced their Faith after embracing it, bore witness that the Messenger was true, and received the revelation in knowledge of Him? And Allâh holds back the Light of His inspiration from a people who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
3:87  As for such, their penalty is that there shall descend on them the curse of Allâh, the Angels and mankind, all together.
3:88  They will live in that curse forever. Their punishment will not be lightened, nor will they be reprieved.
3:89  Except for those who repent after that and make amends. For Allâh is indeed Oft-Forgiving- Most Merciful.
3:90  Indeed, those who have voluntarily and consciously renounced their Faith after embracing it, then stoutly persisted in denial of the Truth, their repentance will never be accepted. It is they who live in spiritual darkness.
3:91  Verily those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth then die faithless- the whole earth full of gold will not be accepted from anyone of them if he offered it as a ransom. It is they who will be subjected to a painful chastisement. And they will have no helpers.
3:92  You will not enter Al- Jannah until you expend of that which you love. And whatever you spend, (be sure that) Allâh is Well- Aware of it.
3:93  All types of food were made lawful to the Children of Israel except for what Israel had made unlawful for himself before the Torah was revealed. Say : "Bring the Torah and recite it if your allegations were true."
3:94  Then whoever attributes falsehood to Allâh, they are the ones who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
3:95  Say: “Allâh has declared the truth. Now, therefore, adhere to the Faith of Abraham who was a Monotheist- having a deep, pure, focused Faith in Allâh. He was not among the Polytheists."
3:96  Most surely the first House (of worship) established for mankind is the one in Mecca, a Sacred Place and a True Source of Spiritual Purification for all peoples.
3:97  In it are clear signs such as the standing place of Abraham. Whoever enters it will be safe. Pilgrimage to the House is incumbent upon all the people, on everyone who is able to undertake the journey to it. As for the one who renounces his Faith, (let him know that) Allâh is indeed Self-Sufficient, above any need of all the beings.
3:98  Say: "O’ People of the Book! why do you refuse to give credence to what Allâh has revealed?. And Allâh (Himself) is Witness over whatever you do.
3:99  Say: "O’ People of the Book! why do you create obstacles in the way of Allâh for those who adhere to Faith? You intend to make it appear deviant while you yourselves are witnesses. And Allâh has full knowledge of whatsoever you do.”
3:100  O’ you who live by Faith! If it happens that you yield to the whims of a party of those who have received the Scripture, they will do their best to make you renounce your Faith.
3:101  How can you renounce your Faith when the Verses of Allâh are recited to you and among you is His Messenger?. Whoever holds fast to Allâh is the truly walking on the right path to Salvation.
3:102  O’ you who live by Faith! act piously towards Allâh in accordance with what is required. And do not die except in total submission to Allâh.
3:103  And hold firmly to the cord of Allâh all together and do not be divided. And remember with gratitude the grace of Allâh upon you when you were enemies, He united your hearts in love so that by His grace you became brothers. You were on the brink of a pit of fire, and then He saved you from it. This is how Allâh shows you His Signs (of power & glory) so that you may walk on the right path to Salvation.
3:104  Let there be a group among you that should invite to Goodness, enjoin what is right and forbid indecency. it is they who will ultimately achieve a blissful life /or gain eternal salvation.
3:105  And do not be like those who broke up (into sects) and differed after having received the Full knowledge of the Truth. It is they who will be subjected to a mighty punishment.
3:106  (Beware of) a day when some faces will be whitened, and some faces blackened: Those whose faces will be blackened (will be asked): “Did you renounce your Faith after embracing it?. Then taste the chastisement for your persistent and purposeful denial of the Truth."
3:107  But those whose faces will be whitened will be in Allâh’s Mercy- abiding therein.
3:108  These Qur’ānic Verses We recite to you in truth are the Word of Allâh. And Allah desires no injustice to His creatures.
3:109  Unto Allâh belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth, and to Him all matters are returned.
3:110  You are the best nation that has been raised up for mankind. You enjoin right conduct, forbid what is wrong and believe in (the Absolute Oneness) of Allâh. If only the people of the Book had adhered to Faith, it would have certainly been better for them. Among them are those who live by Faith, but most of them are indulging in personal disobedience extensively without repentance.
3:111  They will never be able to harm you except for a trifling annoyance. And if it happens that they come out to fight you, they will flee, then shall they not be helped.
3:112  Ignominy is pitched over them wherever they are found except when they are protected by a covenant with Allâh or with men. They brought the wrath of Allâh upon themselves, and have been pitched into misery, because they refused to give credence to what Allâh has revealed, and unjustly slew His Prophets, and because they walked in the path of disobedience and used to transgress.
3:113  Yet they are not all alike. Among the People of the Book, there are some who are upright, reciting the Holy Verses of Allâh throughout the night, bowing and prostrating (in prayer).
3:114  They believe in Allâh and the Last Day, enjoining right conduct, preventing whatever is wrong and hastening towards all that is good. They are truly among the righteous.
3:115  And whatever good thing they do, they will not be excluded from obtaining their reward. And Allâh is Well-Aware of the Pious.
3:116  Verily those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth - neither their wealth nor their children will avail them aught against (the wrath of) Allâh. They are the Denizens of Hell- abiding therein.
3:117  The likeness of what they expend in this worldly life is the likeness of freezing wind striking and destroying the harvest of people who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims. And Allâh has not wronged them, but they used to be unfair to their own selves (when they abandoned the Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims).
3:118  O’ you who live by Faith! do not take as intimates others than your own people. They would spare nothing to ruin you. Their only desire is to see you seriously hurt. Animosity has already appeared from their mouths, and what their hearts conceal is greater. We have certainly made the signs (of their enmity) clear to you if only you have a higher level of consciousness.
3:119  Here you are! You demonstrate your own love for them, whereas they do not love you although you believe in all the Scriptures. When they meet you, they make a false profession of faith. But when they are alone, they bite their fingertips in rage against you. So say unto them: "Die in your outrage!”. Most assuredly Allâh is Well-Aware of what is stored up in the hearts.
3:120  When a single good deed touches you, it makes them upset. But when a misfortune befalls you, they rejoice in it. If you cling to patience and act piously, their evil schemes will not harm you. Most certainly Allâh is All-Encompassing of what they do.
3:121  And (mention) when you left your household in the morning to lodge the Monotheistic Believers in their pitches for the battle (of Uhud). Allâh is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
3:122  Behold! Although two parties among you were about to lose courage, but Allâh remained their Guardian. So let the Monotheistic Believers depend on Allâh with full trust.
3:123  Allâh had already given you victory at (the battle) of ‘Badr although you were few in number. So act piously towards Allâh so that you may give gratitude.
3:124  And (mention) when you said to those who live by Faith: "Is it not enough for you that your Lord should strengthen you with three thousand Angels specially sent down?”.
3:125  Rather, if you cling patience and act piously toward Allâh, and the enemies come upon you unexpectedly, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand Angels sweeping on.
3:126  Allâh made it not but as a sign of joyful news and as an assurance to your hearts. Triumph comes only from Allâh, the Almighty, the All-Wise,
3:127  So that He might destroy some of those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth and quell the others so that they will turn back, frustrated.
3:128  Do not let it be your concern. It is up to Allah to forgive or punish them, for they have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
3:129  Unto Allâh belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. He forgives and chastises whom He wills. And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
3:130  O’ you who live by Faith, do not devour usury, doubled and multiplied. But act piously towards Allâh.
3:131  And guard yourselves against the Fire, which has been prepared for those who are spiritually dead and blind.
3:132  Yield (to the Commandments of Allâh) and (to what He has revealed to) His Messenger so that you may be delivered from all the consequences of your iniquitous deeds.
3:133  Hasten towards forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the Pious,
3:134  Who spend of their wealth (in the cause of Allâh) during the time of ease and adversity, restrain their anger and pardon people. And Allâh demonstrates His own love for those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.
3:135  And for those who when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves, they celebrate the praise of Allâh and seek forgiveness for their iniquitous deeds - Who forgives iniquitous deeds except Allah?- and do not deliberately persist in what they have done.
3:136  Those- their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and Gardens under which rivers flow, wherein they will live forever. Excellent is the reward of the faithful workers.
3:137  Indeed, similar situations came to pass before you, so travel throughout the land and see the dreadful end of those who were spiritually dead and blind.
3:138  This Qur’ān is a declaration of truth to mankind, the True Source of Enlightenment and Admonition for the Pious.
3:139  Do not feel dispirited or fall into despair, for you will always have the upper hand as long as you strongly adhere to your faith.
3:140  If a wound has touched you, be sure a similar wound has touched the others. Such days of varying fortunes, We alternate among the people so that Allâh will bring to light those who live by Faith, cherish the martyrs He chooses from among you - And Allâh does not love those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims-
3:141  Purify those who live by Faith (from their iniquitous deeds through trials) and exterminate those who are spiritually dead and blind.
3:142  Or do you think that you will enter Al-Jannah without Allâh identifying the ones among you who truly fight for His cause and those who endure with fortitude?.
3:143  Verily you longed for the opportunity to attain martyrdom before encountering it. Now surely you see it before your very eyes.
3:144  Muhammad is no more than a Messenger like the ones who have passed away before him. If he were to die or to be slain, would you then turn back upon your heels?. The one who turns back on his heels does no harm to Allâh. And Allâh will reward those who show gratitude.
3:145  No Human person can ever die except by the will of Allâh at an appointed time. Whoever desires the reward of this worldly life, We will bestow on him thereof. And whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter, We will bestow on him thereof. We shall indeed reward those who express their gratitude
3:146  So many faithful devotees fought to help the Prophets to (spread the Word of Allâh). They were never daunted by whatever smote them in the cause of Allâh, nor did they weaken or surrender. Allâh demonstrates His own love for those who cling to patience.
3:147  All they said after what had smitten them was: "Our Lord, forgive our iniquitous deeds and excesses in our affairs. Make our steps firm and grant us victory over those who are spiritually dead and blind.”
3:148  So Allâh gave them the reward of this worldly life and the premium reward of the Hereafter. Allâh demonstrates His own love for those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.
3:149  O’ you who live by Faith! If it happens that you yield to the whims of those who have no tendency to live by Faith, they will surely deceive you into going away from the truth and you will then become among those who are doomed to perdition.
3:150  Nay! Allâh is your Guardian and He is the Best Helper.
3:151  We will cast terror into the hearts of those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth for associating partners to Allâh for which He did not authorize. Their abode will be Fire. What a dreadful place for those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims to abide!
3:152  Verily Allâh did fulfill His promise to you when you were, by His will, exterminating your enemy until the moment when you lost your courage, disputing over the order and disobeying after Allâh had shown you what you aimed to have. Among you are some who desire this worldly life, and other who desire the Hereafter, so He made you fall back so that He might test you. He has certainly forgiven you. And Allâh is Most Gracious to the Monotheistic Believers of the unfeigned faith.
3:153  Behold! You climbed up the high ground without even looking aside at anyone while the Messenger was calling you from behind. So Allâh repaid you with sorrow upon sorrow so that you might not mourn over what you had lost and the injuries you had suffered. And Allâh is Well Acquainted with whatsoever you do.
3:154  Then, after the sorrow, He sent down upon you security (in the form of) slumber overcoming a party of you, while others were worried about their own safety, thinking of Allâh other than the truth- thought of the age of ignorance, saying: “Do we have a role in the matter?”. Say: “All matters are decreed by Allâh". They conceal in their hearts what they will not reveal to you. They say: "Had we any role in this issue, some of us would not have been killed right here". Say: "Even if you had been inside your houses, those who were appointed to be slain would have come out to their death beds.” (It meant to be) so that Allâh will reveal what is stored up in their hearts and purify what is in your hearts. And Allâh is Well-Aware of whatever is stored up in the hearts (of mankind).
3:155  Surely those who fell back on the day when the two armies met- it was Satan who caused them to backslide because of some of that which they had earned. And Allâh has already forgiven them. Most certainly Allâh is Oft-Forgiving - Most Forbearing.
3:156  O’ you who live by Faith! do not be like those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth, saying of their brethren who traveled through the land or went out to fight: "If they had been with us, they would not have died or slain". So Allâh makes that to be an intense regret in their hearts. It is Allâh who gives life and causes death. And Allâh is Well -Aware of whatsoever you do.
3:157  If it happens that you are slain or died in the cause of Allah, then You will attain forgiveness from Allah, as well as Mercy which far greater than what they amass in this worldly life.
3:158  Whether you die or are slain, before Allâh you shall all be gathered.
3:159  It was by that divine clemency that you dealt gently with them, otherwise, if you had been cruel or hard-hearted, they would not have stayed with you all this time. Now, therefore, pardon them. Ask Allâh to forgive their iniquitous deeds. And consult with them in certain issues. When you have taken the decision, then depend on Allâh with full trust. Most certainly Allâh demonstrates His own love for those who rely on Him with full trust.
3:160  If Allâh helps you, then none can defeat you. But if He forsakes you, then who else can help you?. So let the Monotheistic Believers depend on Allâh with full trust.
3:161  It is not possible for any Prophet to defraud. And whoever defrauds will bring what he has defrauded with him on the Day of Resurrection. Then each human person will be paid in full for what has has earned. And they will not be wronged.
3:162  Is the one who follows the good pleasure of Allâh like the one who brings His wrath upon himself and his abode is hellfire?. What a dreadful destination!
3:163  They are in different ranks in the sight of Allâh. And Allâh is Well-Aware of whatever they do.
3:164  Verily Allâh has conferred a great favor upon the those who live by Faith when He sent among them a Messenger from their own race, reciting to them the Qur’ānic Verses, purifying them (from Polytheism & Atheism), and teaching them the spirit wisdom and Scripture, while, before that they had been living in manifest deception.
3:165  Why is it that when a single disaster struck you (on the day of Uhud) - although you had struck the enemy (in the battle of Badr) with one twice as great, you complained: "Then how is it possible?”. Say: "It is from your own selves." Indeed, Allâh is Most Capable of doing whatsoever He desires.
3:166  So what struck you on the day when the two armies met was by the will of Allâh so that He might identify the ones who live by Faith
3:167  And expose the ones who excessively indulge in hypocrisy. When it was said unto them: “Come and fight in the cause of Allâh, or at least defend yourselves”, they said: “If we had known that there would be fighting, we would have surely gone with you". On that day, they were closer to renounce their Faith, uttering with their mouths what was not in their hearts. And Allâh has full knowledge of what they conceal (in their hearts).
3:168  Those who stayed home during the fight said of their slain brethren: “If they had obeyed us, they would not have been slain". Say: "Then prevent death from yourselves if you were truthful".
3:169  And never think of those who are slain in the cause of Allâh as dead. No indeed! They are alive with their Lord, receiving the means of sustenance form Him.
3:170  They rejoice in what Allâh has bestowed upon them of His bounty, receiving glad tidings about those (who will be martyred) after them, and have not joined them yet - that there will come no fear upon them, nor will they ever grieve-
3:171  They are joyful for receiving the grace and bounty of Allâh, and that Allâh will not allow the reward of those who live a life of Genuine Faith to be lost.
3:172  Those are the ones who responded to (the call of) Allâh and the Messenger after injury had struck them. As for those who did good among them and acted piously toward Allâh, they will receive a great reward (from Allâh).
3:173  Those who were warned: "The people have gathered against you, so fear them!" Nevertheless, the threat of danger invigorated their faith and they said: “Allâh is Sufficient for us. He is the Best Disposer of affairs on Whom we depend with full trust.”
3:174  So they returned with grace and favor from Allâh. No evil ever touched them as they follow the good pleasure of Allâh. He is the Lord of Great Bounty.
3:175  It is only Satan who tried to frighten you with his supporters. So do not stand in awe of them, but show honor and reverence only for Me if you live a life of Genuine Faith.
3:176  Let not those who hasten to renounce their Faith sadden you. Surely they can do no harm to Allâh at all. It is the (wise) will of Allâh to prevent them from having a share in the Hereafter. And they will be subjected to a great punishment.
3:177  Surely those who voluntarily and consciously abandon Faith in favour of spiritual darkness can do no harm to Allâh at all. They will be subjected to a painful punishment in the Hereafter.
3:178  Let not those who those who persistently refuse to Yield to the Truth think that living longer is good for them. We only extend it for them so that they may add more iniquitous deeds to theirs. Most surely they will be subjected to an extremely disgraceful punishment.
3:179  Allâh will never leave those who live by Faith in the state which you are in until He separates the evil from the good. Nor will He reveal to you the secrets of the Unseen. But Allâh chooses of His Messengers whom He wills. So place your Faith in Allâh and His Messengers. If you live by Faith and act piously, then you will definitely have a great reward.
3:180  Let not those who exhibit parsimony in what Allâh has bestowed upon them of His bounty think that it is good for them- in fact, it will be the worse for them. They will be tied at the neck with what they used to withhold on the Day of Resurrection. Unto Allâh belongs the heritage of the heavens and earth. And Allâh is Well Acquainted with whatever you do.
3:181  Verily Allâh heard their sharp words of those who said: "Truly, Allâh is poor, whereas we are rich". We shall certainly record their word and their act of killing the Prophets unjustly and We shall say: “Taste the punishment of the burning Fire” .
3:182  This is the reward for what your own hands wrought. And Allâh will never be unjust to His servants.
3:183  They also say: “Allâh took our promise not to believe in any Messenger unless he brings us an offering to be consumed by fire”. Say: “Verily, there came to you Messengers before me with miraculous Signs From Allâh and even with what you requested- Why, then, did you slay them if you were truthful in your claim?".
3:184  If it happens that they deny you, so indeed were denied Messengers before you who came to them with Decisive Signs, scriptures and the illuminating book.
3:185  Every human person is destined to taste death. You only be paid fully your reward on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted into Al-Jannah has ultimately achieved a blissful life /or gained eternal salvation. (Know that this) worldly life is no more than a provision of vanities..
3:186  We will let you experience hardship in your possessions and in yourselves. You will surely hear much annoying words from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who believe in a plurality of gods. But if you cling to patience and act piously towards Allâh, it will be a sign of firm determination.
3:187  And (remember when) Allâh made a solemn covenant with those who had been given the Scripture to make it known to people, not to conceal it. But they hurl it forcefully behind their backs and exchanged it for a small price--what a dreadful deal!
3:188  Do not think that those who express joy in what they have done and love to be praised for what they themselves have not done are safe from divine punishment. For lo! They will be subjected to a painful punishment.
3:189  Unto Allâh belongs the (Absolute) Sovereignty of the heavens and earth. And Allâh is Most Capable of doing whatsoever He desires.
3:190  Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth: in the alternation of the night and day: are signs (of Allâh’s power & glory) for those who have high intelligence and great illumination.
3:191  As for those who celebrate the praise of Allâh and declare His glory while standing or sitting or lying on their sides, they contemplate the creation of the heavens and earth, (saying): "Our Lord, You did not create this (world) in vain. Exalted Are You. Guard us against the punishment of the Fire.
3:192  Our Lord! surely whoever You commit to the Fire, You have disgraced him. And there will be no helpers for those who have voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.
3:193  Our Lord, surely we have heard a crier calling to Faith, saying: ‘Affirm your Faith in your Lord’, so we adhere to faith. “Our Lord, deliver us from the consequences of our iniquitous deeds. And cause us to die with those who are Pure in Heart.
3:194  Our Lord, vouchsafe us what You have promised us through Your Messengers! Do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Most assuredly You are the One Who never fails to fulfill His promise.”
3:195  So their Lord responded to them: "Never will I let the work of any worker among you be lost in vain, whether male or female. You are all related to one another. As for those who migrated, those who were forced to leave their homes, those who were persecuted in My cause and those who fought (bravely) and were slain, I will deliver them from all the consequences of their iniquitous deeds and admit them into Gardens beneath which rivers flow as a reward from Allâh”. And from Allâh comes the best reward.
3:196  Let not the inconstancy of those who persistently refuse to yield to the Truth throughout the land deceive you.
3:197  It is but a brief opportunity for joy. Then Hellfire is their eternal home- what an evil place to abide!
3:198  But those who act piously towards their Lord will have Gardens beneath which rivers flow. They will remain therein forever as generous reception and entertainment from Allâh, and that which is with Allâh is best for those who are Pure in Heart.
3:199  Verily among the People of the Book are those who believe in (the Absolute Oneness of) Allâh, in what is revealed to you and what was revealed to them. They humble themselves before Allâh and do not abandon the Revelation Knowledge of Allâh in favour of small gain. Those will have their reward with their Lord. Most certainly Allâh is too Swift in taking account.
3:200  O’ you who live by Faith! cling to patience. Outdo all others in endurance. Remain stationed and act piously towards Allâh so that you may ultimately achieve a blissful life /or gain eternal salvation.
