10:1  Alif Lam Ra. Those are the signs of the book full of wisdom.

10:2  Do people deem it strange that We have inspired a man from amongst them, [saying], “Warn mankind and bring unto those who believe the good tidings that they have a sure footing with their Lord” The disbelievers say, “Lo! This is a manifest sorcerer.”

10:3  Truly your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six periods, and He then firmly established His presence on the throne, He proclaims the commandment. No intercessor can intercede [with Him] except after His leave. That is Allah your Lord; worship Him truly: will you not then remember?

10:4  Unto Him is the place of return of all of you together; it is a promise of Allah in truth. Lo! He originates the creation, then repeats it, so that He may reward those who believe and do good works with equity; while, as for those who disbelieve, for them will be a boiling drink and a painful punishment because they used to disbelieve.

10:5  It is He who caused the sun to be a blazing light and the moon to be a cool light and who apportioned for it stations so that you may know the number of years and computation. Allah did not create that except by the truth. He details the signs for a people who know.

10:6  For, truly, in the alternating of night and day, and in all that Allah has created in the heavens and in earth there are signs indeed for people who revere Him!

10:7  Truly those who do not looking forward to meet Us and are pleased with the life of this world and their hearts feel secure thereby and those who are forgetful about Our signs.

10:8  They are the ones whose abode is the Fire, because of what they used to perpetrate.

10:9  [But,] truly, as for those who believe and do righteous deeds - their Lord guides them aright by means of their faith. Running rivers flow beneath them in gardens of bliss;

10:10  Their call therein will be: Glory be to You, O Allah! And their greeting therein will be: Peace. And the close of their call will be: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!

10:11  Now if Allah were to bring in haste for people the ill [which they do not like] as they would want Him to bring in haste the good [which they like], then their term of respite will surely come to an immediate end. So We therefore leave those, who do not look forward to meet Us, wandering blindly in their transgression.

10:12  For [thus it is:] when affliction touches man, he cries out unto Us, whether he be lying on his side or sitting or standing; but as soon as We have removed his affliction from him, he goes on as though he had never invoked Us [to save him] from an affliction that touched him! Thus for those who waste their own souls, what they used to do has been made seem goodly to them.

10:13  And indeed we had destroyed generations before you when they persisted in wrongdoing. And their messengers had come to them with clear signs but they were never going to believe. Thus do we requite the people who are the evildoers.

10:14  Then We appointed you as vicegerents in the earth after them in order to for Us to see how you would do.

10:15  And whenever Our signs are related to them clearly those who do not look forward to meet Us would say, “Bring a Quran other than this or change it.” Say, “It is not for me to change it out of my own accord. I only follow what is revealed to me. Lo! I do fear the punishment of an awful day should I disobey my Lord”

10:16  Say, “If Allah had so willed, I would not have related it to you nor He would have made you cognizant of it. For I have indeed remained for a lifetime among you before it. Will you not then understand?”

10:17  Who does more wrong to his own soul than one who contrives a lie against Allah or belies His signs. Lo! Those who are evildoers will not prosper.

10:18  And they worship besides Allah things that neither can harm them nor can they benefit them and they say, “These are our intercessors in Allah’s presence.” Say, “Do you inform Allah about aught that He knows not in the heavens and in the earth?” Glory be unto Him and far exalted is He above all that they ascribe as partners to Him.

10:19  And mankind was but a single nation [in the beginning] then they disagreed. Had it not been for a word which had been decreed by your Lord, that matter in which they disagree, would certainly have been decreed among them.

10:20  And they say, “If only a sign was revealed unto him from his Lord.” Say, “The un-witnessed is only for Allah therefore wait and I am indeed amongst those who wait with you.”

10:21  And whenever we give mankind a taste of mercy after an affliction had touched them, thereupon they contrive schemes in Our signs Say, “Allah is swifter in planning” Truly Our messengers do write all that you scheme.

10:22  It is He who enables you to travel in the land and in the sea until when you happen to be in the ship and gentle wind is made to drive them and they rejoiced thereby. Suddenly a tempest comes upon them and the waves assailed them from every quarter and they thought that they had been besieged by doom. Thereupon they will call on Allah in all sincerity of faith saying, “If You do save us from this, we certainly will be among those who are grateful.”

10:23  And when He saves them [from doom], thereafter they go about causing mischief in the earth for no just cause. O’ Mankind, your mischief is but only against your own souls. It is the brief enjoyment of the life of this world where after your place of return is unto Us and We shall surely inform you in the matter of all that you used to do.

10:24  Indeed the similitude of the life of this world is like water that We sent down from the heaven with which mingles the plants of the earth from which human beings and cattle eat until when the earth puts on its ornament and adorn herself so that its owners thought that they had power over it, Our commandment comes upon it by night or by day and We cause it to be like a harvested crop as though it had never flourished yesterday. Thus do We detail the signs for a people who reflect.

10:25  And Allah does invite to the home of peace and He guides whom He pleases to a path most upright.

10:26  For those who act in excellence is the reward of excellence and increase. And their faces are neither afflicted by weariness nor by humiliation. Those are the companions of the paradise and they will abide therein forever.

10:27  And those who perpetrate evil deeds, the reward for evil is one like onto it and they are afflicted with humiliation. For them there will be no protector from Allah and their faces will look as though they were covered with a dark pieces out of the night. Those are the companions of the fire. They will abide therein forever.

10:28  And on the day wherein We shall gather them all together then We shall say unto those who had ascribed partners to Allah, “Stand in your places you and your presumed partners.” And We will separate them. And their presumed partners will say, “It is not us which you used to worship.

10:29  For Allah suffices as a witness between us and you. That we were indeed oblivious about your worshipping us”

10:30  And thereupon every soul shall be subjected to trial for all that it had done before. And they will be brought back towards Allah, their Master, The truth. And all that they used to contrive will go amiss from them.

10:31  Say, “Who is it that provides sustenance for you from the heaven and the earth and who is it that has dominion over the hearing and the sight and who is it that brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living and who is it that utters the commandment? They shall certainly say, “It is Allah.” Say, “Then why don’t you revere?”

10:32  That indeed is Allah your Lord, The Truth. What is there beyond the truth other than misguidance? Whither then are you turned.

10:33  Thus the word of your Lord has been fulfilled against those who transgress: That they will not believe.

10:34  Say, “Is there among those whom you ascribe partners to Allah one who initiates the creation and then repeats it?” Say, “Allah does initiate the creation and repeats it.” Whither then are you turned.

10:35  Say, “Is there among those whom you ascribe as partners to Allah, one that guides to the truth?” Say, “Allah does guide to the truth.” Therefore is it not that the one who guides to the truth has more right to be followed than one who cannot find the way by himself unless he be guided? How strange you are in the way you judge!

10:36  Most of them do not follow except fantasy. And fantasy can in no wise be a satisfactory replacement for the truth. And truly Allah is Knower of all that they do.

10:37  This Quran could not have been contrived in spite of Allah. Nay! But this is a confirmation of what went before it and a full explanation of the book, there is no doubt in it, from the Lord of the worlds.

10:38  Or do they claim that he has contrived it. Say, “then bring a chapter like unto it and call to help whomever you can besides Allah if you are true [in your claim].”

10:39  Nay! They claim to be a lie, what they have not encompassed in knowledge and its ultimate interpretation has not yet come unto them. Similarly did the people before them claimed [it] to be a lie. See how was the ending of those who wronged their own souls.

10:40  And among them are such who believe in it and among them are others who do not believe in it and your Lord knows well those who are the perpetrators of corruption.

10:41  But if they charge you with lying say then, “for me is my deed and for you is your deed. You are innocent of what I do and I stand innocent of what you do.”

10:42  And among them are such as do listen to you. But are you the one to make the deaf hear even though they understand not.

10:43  And among them are such who look at you but are you the one to guide the blind even though they see not.

10:44  Truly Allah does not wrong mankind in aught. But it is mankind who wrong their own souls.

10:45  On the day that He will gather them, [it will seem to them] as though they had tarried not more than an hour of the day. They recognize one another. Lo! In loss are those who belied meeting with Allah nor were they guided.

10:46  And whether We do cause you to see some of that which We promise them or We do take your soul [before that]. Unto Us indeed is their place of return and thereafter Allah is witness over all that they will do.

10:47  For every nation there is a messenger. and once their messenger has come unto them, decree is pronounced between them in all equity and they will not be wronged.

10:48  And they say when will this promise come to pass if you are true in your claim.

10:49  Say, “I have no power over harm or benefit for myself except such as pleases Allah. For every nation there is an appointed term. When their term comes, they cannot delay it by a moment nor can they advance it.”

10:50  Say, “Do you see that if His punishment were to visit you by night [while you sleep] or by day [while you play] what then [of the two] from it are the evildoers in haste for.”

10:51  Is it only when that it has come to pass that will you believe in it? Ah! Now [that you see it] and you indeed were in haste for it to come.

10:52  Then [at length] it will be proclaimed unto those who used to wrong their own souls, “taste the punishment of the everlastingness. Are you being paid in return with aught other than that, that you used to perpetrate.”

10:53  And they inquire from you saying, “is this true?” Say, “yeah, by my Lord it is the very truth. And you in no wise can frustrate it.”

10:54  If any soul which had wronged itself possessed all that is in the earth, it will surely have paid it as ransom but they conceal their remorse when they see the punishment and decree is pronounced between them in all equity and they will not be wronged.

10:55  Lo! To Allah indeed belongs all that is in the heavens and in the earth. Lo! The promise of Allah indeed is true but most of them know not.

10:56  It is He alone who gives life and causes death and unto Him you will be brought back.

10:57  O mankind! There has indeed come unto you an admonition from your Lord and a healing for that which is in the bosoms and a guidance and a mercy for the believers.

10:58  Say, “In the favor of Allah and in His mercy, indeed it is in these, that they should rejoice” which is better than all that they gather.

10:59  Say, “Do you see all that Allah has bestowed upon you as sustenance which thereafter you’ve divided into things forbidden and things permitted.” Say, “Has Allah granted you permission or are you contriving falsehood against Allah.”

10:60  But what do those who contrive falsehood against Allah expect on the day of resurrection. Truly Allah is indeed Lord of bounty unto mankind but most of them do not show gratitude.

10:61  And you do not engage in any matter nor rehearse aught from Quran nor do any deed but that We were witnesses over you as you engage in it and nothing is hidden from your Lord even the size of zarra in the earth nor in the heaven and nothing smaller than that or anything bigger except it is all in a clear book.

10:62  Lo! Truly The Allies of Allah, no fear comes upon them nor do they grieve.

10:63  It is they who believed and used to guard their souls out of reverence for Allah.

10:64  For them is the glad tidings in the life of this world and in the life of the hereafter. There will be no change in Allah’s words and that indeed is the most magnificent achievement.

10:65  Do not be grieved by what they say. For all might indeed belongs to Allah. It is He who is The All-hearing, The All-knowing.

10:66  Lo! Truly for Allah is all who is in the heavens and who is in the earth. And those who call others besides Allah [truly] follow no partners. Rather they follow nothing but fancies and they do nothing except lying.

10:67  It is He who has made the night for you so that you may find tranquility in it and the day [for you] bright [so that you may go abroad]. Indeed in this there are signs for people who hear.

10:68  They say, “Allah has chosen for Himself a son.” Glorified be He. It is only He who is All self-sufficient. For Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. Do you perchance have any authority regarding this or do you attribute unto Allah what you know not.

10:69  Say, “Truly those who contrive the lie against Allah will not prosper.”

10:70  A little enjoyment in the life of this world thereafter their place of return will be unto Us then We will make them taste the severe punishment because of that they used to disbelieve.

10:71  Relate unto them story of Noah when he said to his people, “O my people! if my standing as a witness [among you] and my reminding you by means of the signs of Allah seem unbearable to you then [know] surely in Allah, I have put my trust. Therefore put your affair together and gather your partners. Then let there be no uncertainty among you regarding your affair. Then make your onslaught on me and do not give me any respite.

10:72  But if you turn away then know that I never asked for any fee from you. My reward is only upon Allah and I have been commanded to be of those who submit.

10:73  But they charged him with lying We therefore saved him and those with him in the Ark and We made them the successors [in the earth] and We drowned those who belied Our signs. Look at how was the ending of those who were warned [but did not heed the warning].

10:74  Then We sent after him messengers to their people they came unto them with clear signs but they were not going to believe in what they had belied before. Thus We put the seal on the heart of the transgressors.

10:75  Then We sent after them Moses and Aaron with our signs to Pharaoh and his chieftains but they grew in their arrogance and they were a people who were evildoers.

10:76  And then the truth came unto them from Our part they said, “this is indeed a manifest sorcery.”

10:77  Moses said, “Do you speak thus about the truth when it has reached you. Is this sorcery but Lo! Sorcerers do not prosper.”

10:78  They said, “Have you come to us to turn us away from that on which we found our forefathers so that you two become paramount in the land but no we are not going to believe in the two of you.”

10:79  And Pharaoh said, “Bring to me every sorcerer well conversant.”

10:80  And when the sorcerers came, Moses said unto them, “throw what you are going to throw.”

10:81  When they had thrown, Moses said, “what you have come with is the sorcery and Allah indeed is going to undo it. For Allah does not make right the deeds of corrupters.”

10:82  And Allah makes the truth come true by means of His words. Even though that may be hateful to the evildoers.

10:83  None professed their faith in Moses except a small band from among his people out of fear for Pharaoh and his chieftains lest they persecute them. Lo! Pharaoh indeed had become high in the earth and he indeed was of those who are exceedingly abusive.

10:84  And Moses said, “O my people! If you truly believed in Allah then put your trust in Him if you truly submit.”

10:85  And they said, “in Allah do we put our trust. O our Lord! Do not make us the means of trial for the people who have wronged their own souls.”

10:86  And save us through Your mercy from the people who are disbelievers.

10:87  And we inspired Moses and his brother that establish for your people houses in Egypt and make your houses the place of turning your face to God then establish prayer and give glad tidings to the believers.

10:88  And Moses said, “O our Lord, you indeed have bestowed on Pharaoh and his chieftains adornment and property in the life of this world. O our Lord as a result they mislead [others] from Your way. O our Lord, wipe out their property and constrict their hearts so that they will not believe till they see the painful punishment.”

10:89  [Allah] Said, “your invocation has indeed been answered therefore stand upright both of you and follow not both of you the way of those who do not know.”

10:90  And We took the children of Israel across the sea but then the Pharaoh and his hosts pursued them out of offensiveness and transgression. Until when drowning came upon him, He said [now] I believe that there is no deity except the one in which the children of Israel have believed and [now] I am of those who are submitters [to Allah].

10:91  Now! [you believe and submit] when aforetime you were indeed rebellious and you were among those who are corrupters [in the land].

10:92  As for today, We will preserve you only through your body so that you may be a sign for those who come after you. And indeed many among mankind are surely heedless about Our signs.

10:93  We have indeed established the children of Israel in a firm establishment and We provided them with goodly provisions. And they never disagreed until the knowledge had come unto them. Surely your Lord will judge between them on the day of resurrection in matters in which they used to disagree.

10:94  But if you are in incredulity about that which We have revealed unto you, then ask those who used to recite the book before you. Lo! Indeed the truth has come unto you from your Lord therefore be not of those who are in confusion.

10:95  And be not of those who belie the signs of Allah for then you will be among the ones in loss.

10:96  Truly those against whom the word of your Lord has been fulfilled will not believe.

10:97  until they see the painful punishment even though every sign comes to them.

10:98  If there was ever a town that believed and therefore its belief benefited it, that surely would be the people of Jonah, when they believed We removed from them the punishment of humiliation in the life of this world and We allowed them to enjoy for a [little] while.

10:99  Had your Lord so willed, then surely everyone in the earth all of them together would have believed. Are you then going to compel people until they become believers?

10:100  It is not [possible] for a soul to believe except by the leave of Allah and He heaps up infamy upon those who do not understand.

10:101  Say, “Look and see that which is in the heavens and in the earth” But signs [of glad tidings] and warnings will avail not a people who do not believe.

10:102  Are they waiting for aught other than the like of the days of those who passed away before them. Say, “Therefore Wait! And I indeed am with you among those who are waiting.”

10:103  Then We will grant salvation to Our messengers and to those who believe. Thus salvation of the believers is binding upon Us.

10:104  Say, “O Mankind! If you are in incredulity about my religion [way] then I surely do not worship those that you worship beside Allah but that I worship Allah, the one who takes your souls [at death or sleep]. And I have been commanded to be of those who believe.”

10:105  And that you set your face towards the true way [religion] with gracefulness of faith and that be not of those who ascribe partners to Allah.

10:106  Do not invoke besides Allah aught that neither benefits you nor harms you. For if you do, you will certainly be of those who wrong their own souls.

10:107  If Allah touches you with harm, then there is no one to remove it except He. But if He intends good for you, then there is none to hold back His favor. He causes it to reach to whom He pleases amongst His slaves. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, The Most Merciful.

10:108  Say, “O mankind truth has indeed come to you from your Lord therefore whoever accepts guidance, he only does so for [the good of] his own soul and whoever chooses to go astray, he only does so against [the good of] his own soul and I am not a trustee over you.”

10:109  And follow that which is revealed unto you and be patient until Allah makes his wise disposition and He is the best of those who dispose with wisdom.
