29:1  Alif.Lam.Mim.
29:2  Does mankind reckon that they will be left to say, 'We believe.' And they will not be tried?
29:3  And indeed, We tried those who were before them, and God will surely know those who are truthful, and He will surely know the liars.
29:4  Or do those who do evil deeds think that they can outstrip us? Evil is what they judge.
29:5  Whoever hopes for the meeting of God, - then indeed, God's term will surely come; And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
29:6  And whoever strives, then he only strives for his soul. Indeed, God is surely free of need from the worlds.
29:7  And those who believe and do good works, We will surely, definitely cover from them their evil deeds; and We will surely, definitely reward them better than that which they used to do.
29:8  And We have instructed man with his parents goodness; and if they strive with you that you may associate with Me, what you have no knowledge of, then do not obey them; to me is your return, and I will inform you of what you used to do.
29:9  And those who believe and do good works, We will surely, definitely make them enter amongst the righteous.
29:10  And of mankind is he who says, 'We believe in God.' But when he is hurt in God's cause, he deems the trials of men like the punishment of God; but if help comes from your Lord surely they will definitely say, 'Indeed, we were with you.' Is not God knows best what is in the breasts of the worlds?
29:11  And God will surely, definitely know those who believe, and He will surely, definitely know the hypocrites.
29:12  And those who disbelieve say to those who believe, 'Follow our way, and we will bear your sins.' But they will not bear anything of their sins. Indeed they are surely liars.
29:13  But they will surely, definitely bear their burdens, and burdens with their burdens; and they will surely, definitely be asked on the Day of Resurrection about what they invented.
29:14  And certainly, We sent Noah to his people, and He tarried among them a thousand years but fifty years; and the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers.
29:15  But We saved him and the fellows of the ship, and We made it a sign to the worlds.
29:16  And Abraham when he said to his people, 'Serve God and fear Him, that is better for you if you know.
29:17  You only serve beside God idols and you create a lie; indeed, those whom you serve beside God do not possess provision for you. So seek provision from God, and serve Him, and give thanks to Him; to Him you shall be returned.
29:18  And if you say it is a lie, then verily, nations before you have denied. And nothing is upon the messenger except the clear communication.'
29:19  Have they not seen how God originates the creation, then repeats it? Indeed, that to God is easy.
29:20  Say, 'Travel in the earth and see how He began creation. Then God will produce the last production: indeed, God is powerful over everything.'
29:21  He punishes whom He wills, and He has mercy on whom He wills; and to Him you shall be returned.
29:22  And you cannot escape in the earth or in the heaven; nor have you beside God a patron or a helper.
29:23  And those who disbelieve in God's signs and in meeting with him, those have despaired of My mercy. And those, for them is painful punishment.
29:24  But the answer of his people was only that they said, 'Kill him or burn him!' But God saved him from the fire; indeed, in that surely are signs for a people who believe.
29:25  And he said, 'You have only taken beside God idols. The love between you is in the worldly life; then on the Day of Resurrection you shall deny each other, and curse each other, and your abode shall be the fire, and you shall have no helpers.'
29:26  And Lot believed him; and he said, 'Indeed, I flee to my Lord. Indeed, He is the Mighty, the Wise.'
29:27  And We granted him Isaac and Jacob; and We placed in his offspring prophethood and the Book; and We gave him his reward in the world; and indeed, in the hereafter he is surely among the righteous.
29:28  And Lot when he said to his people, 'Indeed, you approach the immorality which no one from the worlds preceded you in.
29:29  Do you indeed approach men, and cut the way, and approach in your assembly evil?' But the answer of his people was only that they said, 'Bring us God's punishment, if you are of the truthful.'
29:30  He said, 'My Lord! Help me against the evil-doing people.'
29:31  And when Our messengers came to Abraham with the glad tidings, they said, 'Indeed, we are about to destroy the people of this city. Indeed, its people are wrongdoers.'
29:32  He said, 'Indeed, in it is Lot.' They said, 'We know best who is in it; we shall surely save him and his family, except his wife, she is of those who remain behind.'
29:33  And when Our messengers came to Lot, he was grieved for them, and he was straitened for them; and they said, 'Do not fear, and do not grieve; indeed, we are to save you and your family, except your wife, she is of those who remain behind.
29:34  Indeed, we are to send down upon the people of this city a punishment from the sky, for that they have been disobedient.'
29:35  And certainly, We have left of it a clear sign for a people who have sense.
29:36  And to Midian their brother Shuaib, and he said, 'My people, serve God and hope for the Last Day; and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption.'
29:37  But they called him liar; so the earthquake seized them, and on the morrow they lay in their dwellings prone.
29:38  And 'Ad and Thamud - and verily, it is clear to you from their habitations; and the devil beautified for them their works, and turned them from the way, and they were endowed with sight.
29:39  And Korah and Pharaoh and Haman. And certainly, Moses came to them with the clear proofs, but they were big with pride in the earth, and they could not outstrip.
29:40  And each We seized in his sin; and of them was he upon whom We sent a storm of stones; and of them was he whom the noise seized; and of them was he whom We caused the earth to sink with; and of them was he who We drowned. And it was not for God to wrong them, but they wronged themselves.
29:41  The likeness of those who take patrons beside God is as the likeness of the spider, that takes a house; and indeed, the weakest of houses is surely the spider's house, if they know.
29:42  Indeed, God knows whatever thing they call upon beside Him; and He is the Mighty, the Wise.
29:43  And those parables - We strike them for mankind, but none understands them except those who know.
29:44  God created the heavens and the earth with the truth; indeed, in that surely is a sign to believers.
29:45  Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book; and be steadfast in the prayer; indeed, the prayer forbids immorality and evil; and surely the remembrance of God is greater; and God knows what you do.
29:46  And do not argue with the people of the Book, except for what is better; except those who have been unjust amongst them; and say, 'We believe in what has been sent down to us, and has been sent down to you; and our god and your god is one, and we are those who submit to Him.'
29:47  And thus We have sent down to you the Book; and those to whom We have given the Book believe in it. And of these there are those who believe in it. And none deny Our signs except the disbelievers.
29:48  And you did not recite before it any Book, nor write it with your right hand, then the vain-doers surely would have doubted.
29:49  Nay, it is clear signs in the breasts of those who are endued with knowledge, and none but the wrongdoers deny Our signs.
29:50  And they say, 'Unless there are sent down upon him signs from his Lord.' Say, 'The signs are only with God, and I am only a clear warner.'
29:51  And does it not suffice them that We, We have sent down to you the Book which is recited to them? Indeed, in that surely is a mercy and a reminder for a people who believe.
29:52  Say, 'God sufficed for a witness between me and you; He knows what is in the heavens and the earth; and those who believe in falsehood and disbelieve in God, those, they are the losers.'
29:53  They bid you hasten on the punishment; but were it not for a named term, the punishment surely would have come upon them. But it will surely come upon them suddenly while they do not perceive.
29:54  They bid you hasten on the punishment. And indeed, Hell surely encompasses the disbelievers.
29:55  On the day the punishment shall cover them from above them and from beneath their feet, and He shall say, 'Taste what you used to do!'
29:56  O my servants who believe! Indeed, My earth is spacious. Therefore serve Me.
29:57  Every soul shall taste death, then to Us you shall be returned.
29:58  And those who believe and do good works, We shall surely lodge them in upper chambers of the Garden, beneath which rivers flow; to dwell therein - excellent is the wage of those who work.
29:59  Those who are patient and rely upon their Lord.
29:60  How many a creature carries not its provision. God provides for it and for you; and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
29:61  And if you ask them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth, and subjected the sun and the moon?' They would surely say, 'God.' How then are they turned away?
29:62  God extends provision to whom He wills of His servants, and straitens for him. Indeed, God knows all things.
29:63  And if you ask them, 'Who sends down from the sky water and gives life therewith the earth after its death?' They will surely say, 'God.' Say, 'Praise be to God.' Nay, most of them have no sense.
29:64  This worldly life is not except diversion and play; and indeed, the home of the hereafter, surely, it is the life, if they know.
29:65  And when they ride in the ship they call upon God, sincere to Him in religion; but when He saves them to the land, behold, they associate partners;
29:66  That they may disbelieve in what We have given them; and that they may enjoy: but soon they shall know.
29:67  Have they not seen that We have made a safe sanctuary while people are being snatched away around them? Is it then in falsehood they believe, and in the favour of God they disbelieve?
29:68  And who is more unjust than he who invents against God a lie, or calls the truth a lie when it comes to him? Is there not in Hell a home for the disbelievers?
29:69  And those who strive for Us, We will surely, definitely guide them to Our ways; and indeed, God surely is with the good-doers.
