27:1
In the name of God, the Merciful-to-ll, the Mercy Giver: Ta, Seen. These are the verses of the Qur’an, a book that makes everything clear,
27:2
a guidance and good news to the believers
27:3
who establish prayer, give the purifying alms, and are sure of the Hereafter.
27:4
As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds seem right in their own eyes. so that they will wander blindly.
27:5
It is they who will receive the worst punishment, and, in the Hereafter, they are the most failing.
27:6
You have received the Qur’an from the Grace of the All-Wise and All-Knowing.
27:7
[Mention] when Moses said to his family, “I think I see a fire. I will bring you information or will bring you a burning torch that you may warm yourselves.”
27:8
But when he reached it, a voice called to him: “Blessed is He who is in the fire and whoever is around it. And may God be exalted in His Glory, the Lord of the Worlds .
27:9
Moses, It is I-God, the Revered, the Wise”
27:10
“Throw down your staff.” But when he saw it moving as if it were a snake, he ran away and did not turn. [God said], “Moses, do not be afraid. In My presence, the Messengers do not have anything to fear.
27:11
I am Forgiving and Merciful to him who does wrong, but [who then] replaces his bad deeds with good ones.
27:12
And put your hand in your garment; it will come out white yet unharmed-one of nine signs [you will take] to Pharaoh and his people. They have been disobedient people.”
27:13
But when Our enlightening signs came to them, they said, “This is evident magic.”
27:14
Even though they were convinced, they rejected them out of spite and pride. So consider what happened to those who spread corruption.
27:15
We gave knowledge to David and Solomon, and they said, “Praise God, who has favored us over many of His believing servants.”
27:16
And Solomon was David’s heir. He said, “People, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given a share of everything. This is clearly a blessing.”
27:17
Then one day, Solomon’s troops of jinn and men and birds were assembled before him, and they were [marching] in rows.
27:18
When they came upon the valley of the ants, one of the ants said, “Ants enter your dwellings so that you will not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers without their knowing it.”
27:19
Solomon smiled, amused at what she said, and said, “My Lord, enable me to be grateful for the blessings You have given me and my parents, and that I may do righteous deeds accepted by You. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous worshipers.”
27:20
[One day] he inspected the birds and said, “Why do I not see the hoopoe, or is he absent without permission?
27:21
I will surely punish him severely or kill him unless he brings me a convincing excuse.”
27:22
But the hoopoe did not stay away for long. It said, “I learned something that you do not know, and I have brought you news from Sheba.
27:23
I found a woman ruling them. She has been given [an abundance] of all things, and she has a magnificent throne.
27:24
I found that she and her people bow to the sun instead of God. Satan has made their deeds seem right to them and has turned them away from the right path, so they cannot find their way.
27:25
Should they not bow to God, who brings forth what is hidden within the heavens and the Earth, and who knows what you conceal and what you declare?
27:26
He is God. There is no god except Him, Lord of the awesome Throne.”
27:27
[Solomon] said, “We will see whether you told the truth or were a liar.
27:28
Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then withdraw, but see what response they will have.”
27:29
The Queen said, “Counselors, a gracious letter has been delivered to me.
27:30
It is from Solomon, and it is, ‘In the name of God, the Merciful-to-all, the Mercy Giver,
27:31
do not allow yourself to think that you are above me, come to me in submission’ ”
27:32
She said, “Council, advise me on the matter before me. I will not decide on a matter unless I hear from you.”
27:33
They said, “We are powerful and have great military might, but the decision is yours, and we stand ready to follow your orders.”
27:34
She said, “When kings enter a town, they ruin it and humiliate its proudest inhabitants. This is what they do.
27:35
I am sending them a gift, and I will see what the messengers bring back.”
27:36
So when her messengers gained an audience with Solomon [and presented the gift], Solomon said, “Do you bring me wealth when what God has given me is better than what He has given you? It is people like you who will rejoice in a gift like this.
27:37
Go back [and tell] them that we will come to them with soldiers whom they will be unable to face, and We will expel them from their land in humiliation and disgrace.”
27:38
Then he said, “Council, which of you will bring me her magnificent throne before they come to me in submission?”
27:39
A daring one from among the jinn said, “I will bring it to you before you rise from your council. I am strong enough to do it and can be trusted.”
27:40
But one who had knowledge from the Book said, “I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you.” And when [Solomon] saw it placed before him, he said, “This is from the grace of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful, it is for his good. As for the ungrateful, then my Lord is rich beyond need and generous.”
27:41
Then he said, “Disguise her throne; We will see whether she will allow herself to be guided [to truth] or will be among those who reject guidance.”
27:42
So when she arrived, she was asked, “Is your throne like this?” She said, “It is as if it were the same.” [Solomon thought], “We were given knowledge before her, and we have been submissive to God,
27:43
while what she worshiped besides God prevented her from believing, as she is from a people who deny the truth.”
27:44
She was told, “Enter the courtyard.” But when she saw it, she thought it was a pool and uncovered her legs. He said, “It is a courtyard paved with smooth glass.” She said, “My Lord, I have been wrong [because of my limited knowledge], and I submit with Solomon to God, Lord of the Worlds.”
27:45
And We sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], “Worship God,” but they were split into rival factions.
27:46
He said, “My people, why are you so anxious to rush towards evil instead of good? Why you do not ask God for forgiveness so that maybe you will receive mercy?”
27:47
They said, “We consider you to be a bad omen, you and those with you.” He said, “Your omen is with God. Rather, it is you who are being tested.”
27:48
And in the town, there were heads of nine clans who spread mischief in the land and did no good.
27:49
They said to each other, “Let’s take an oath by God that we will kill him and his family tonight. Then we will say to his protector, ‘we did not witness the destruction of his family, and we are truthful.’”
27:50
So they devised their plan, and We too had a plan, but they were not aware of what We were planning.
27:51
Look, then, at the outcome of their plan: We destroyed them and all their people.
27:52
Here are their houses desolate because they were unjust. There is a sign in that for people who know.
27:53
And We saved those who believed and were mindful of God.
27:54
And Lot, when he said to his people, “How dare you commit such immoral act with your eyes wide open?”
27:55
You lust after men instead of women? You are ignorant people.”
27:56
But his people’s answer was, “Expel Lot and his family from your town. They are people who keep themselves pure.”
27:57
So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; We determined she would be with those who stayed behind.
27:58
And We rained upon them a rain. Horrible was the rain for those who were forewarned.
27:59
Say, “Praise be to God, and peace is on His worshipers whom He has chosen. Is not God better than those they associate with Him?”
27:60
Is He [not best] who created the heavens and the Earth? Who sent down rain from the sky for you, causing gardens full of beauty to grow; you could not have grown the trees on your own. Is there another god alongside God? [No], but there are people who take others to be equal to Him.
27:61
Is He [not best] who made the Earth a stable ground, and placed rivers within it, and set mountains firmly on it, and placed a barrier between the two seas? Is there a god with God? [No], but most of them do not know.
27:62
Is He [not best] Who responds to the desperate when he calls upon Him, and Who removes his distress and makes you successors on Earth? Is there a god with God? Little do you remember.
27:63
Is He [not best] Who guides you through the darkness of land and sea and who sends the winds, bringing advance news of His mercy? Is there a god with God? Exalted is God above whatever they associate with Him.
27:64
Is He [not best] Who begins creation and then repeats it, and Who provides for you from heaven and Earth? Is there a god with God? Say, “Show me your evidence, if you are truthful.”
27:65
Say, “None in the heavens and Earth knows what lies beyond our senses except God, and they do not know when they will be resurrected.”
27:66
Rather, their knowledge cannot comprehend the Hereafter. They are in doubt about it; they are, in fact, blind to it.
27:67
So the unbelievers say, “When we and our fathers become dust, will we then be brought out of the graves?
27:68
We and our forefathers have been promised this before. This is only a legend of an ancient people.”
27:69
Say, “Travel around the Earth and observe the fate of those who are guilty of forcing others to reject God’s messages.”
27:70
[Prophet,] do not grieve over them or be distressed by what they conspire.
27:71
They say, “When is [the fulfillment of] this promise if you are truthful?”
27:72
Say, “Perhaps some of what you seem eager for is closer than you think.
27:73
Verily your Lord is bountiful to people, but most of them do not show gratitude.”
27:74
Certainly, your Lord knows what their hearts conceal and what they declare,
27:75
for there is nothing [so] hidden in heaven and Earth that it is not in a clear record.
27:76
This Qur’an narrates to the Children of Israel most of what they are in dispute over.
27:77
And It is guidance and mercy for the Believers.
27:78
Your Lord will judge between them by His [wise] judgment, for He is the Revered, the All-Knowing.
27:79
So put your trust in God; you are on the path of clear Truth.
27:80
You will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf listen to the call when they have turned their backs and gone away
27:81
and you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You cannot make anyone hear you except those who believe in Our signs and submit to [Us].
27:82
And when the judgment comes against them, We will bring forth a beast from the Earth to tell them that, truly, people had no true faith in Our signs.
27:83
And [warn of] the Day when We will gather from every nation a crowd of those who deny Our messages, and they will be formed into groups,
27:84
until, when they arrive [at the place of Judgment], He will say, “Did you deny My messages without even trying to understand them? What were you doing?”
27:85
The verdict will be handed down for their wrongdoing, and they will not speak.
27:86
Do they not see that We made the night for them to rest and the day to see? There are signs in that for people who believe.
27:87
And [warn of] the Day on which the Horn will be blown, and everyone in the heavens and on Earth will be terrified except whom God wills, and all will come to Him completely humbled.
27:88
And you will see the mountains, thinking they are solid, going by like clouds. [It is] the work of God, who is proficient with all things; He is well aware of all you do.
27:89
Whoever comes [at Judgment] with a good deed will be rewarded with something better, and they will be safe from the terror of that Day.
27:90
And whoever comes with an evil deed, they will be cast face down into the Fire, [and will be asked] “Are you being repaid for anything except what you have done?”
27:91
[Say], “I have simply been ordered to worship the Lord of this town, Who made it sacred and to Whom all things belong. And I have been ordered to be one of those who submit to God
27:92
and recite the Qur’an.” Whoever is guided is guided only for his own good, and to whoever strays, say, “I am only one among those who give warnings.”
27:93
And say, “All praise is due to God. [In time] He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them. Your Lord is never unaware of what you do.”
