80:1  He (-Muhammad-) frowned and turned away
80:2  As there came to him the blind man, (interrupting).
80:3  How would you know? Probably he came you in order to be purified,
80:4  Or to receive admonition that might benefit him.
80:5  But the one who considers himself free from need,
80:6  You gave him too much attention.
80:7  Yet it is not your concern if he will not be purified.
80:8  But, as for the one who came to you, seeking for spiritual insight,
80:9  Being afraid (of the consequences of his disbelief),
80:10  You ignored him.
80:11  Nay! It is indeed an admonishment.
80:12  Consequently, whoever wills will pay attention to it.
80:13  It is (mentioned) in Honorable Books,
80:14  Exalted and purified,
80:15  In the hands of scribes (the angels),
80:16  Noble and obedient.
80:17  Man seeks his own destruction. How ‘impious’ he is!
80:18  Of what substance did He create him?
80:19  Of a sperm-drop, He created him. Then He proportioned him.
80:20  Then He made the path easy for him.
80:21  Then He caused him to die and made a tomb for him.
80:22  Consequently, when He wills, He will bring him again to life.
80:23  Nay! Man has not fulfilled what Allâh has commanded him.
80:24  Let man look at his food!
80:25  We poured down water in abundance,
80:26  And then We split the earth in rifts,
80:27  Consequently, We caused to grow therein grain,
80:28  Grapes and green fodder,
80:29  Olive and date-palms,
80:30  Gardens of thick foliage,
80:31  Fruits and grass,
80:32  A provision for you and your cattle.
80:33  But when the ‘Deafening Blast’ comes to pass,
80:34  On the day when a man runs away from his brother,
80:35  From his mother and his father,
80:36  From his wife and his children,
80:37  Since each one of them, that ‘day’, will have enough trouble of his own, which makes him careless of others.
80:38  Some faces, on that ‘day’, will be so bright,
80:39  Laughing and rejoicing and over the joyful news
80:40  While the other faces, on that ‘Day’, will have dust upon them
80:41  Being completely darkened by dust.
80:42  Those are the ‘impious’ flagrantly wicked
