42:1  Ha.Mim.
42:2  'Ayn.Sin.Qaf.
42:3  Thus God, the Mighty, the Wise, inspires you and those before you.
42:4  His is what is in the heavens and what is in the earth, and He is the High, the Great.
42:5  The heavens almost cleave asunder from above them; and the angels glorify with praise of their Lord, and ask forgiveness for those who are in the earth. Lo, indeed, God, He is the Forgiving, the Compassionate.
42:6  And those who take patrons besides Him, God is guardian over them, and you are not a trustee over them.
42:7  And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Quran, that you may warn the mother of the cities, and whoever is around it; and warn of the Day of Gathering, there is no doubt in it; a party in the Garden and a party in the blaze.
42:8  And if God had willed He would have made them one nation; but He makes whom He wills enter in His mercy; and the wrongdoers have neither patron nor helper.
42:9  Or do they take other patrons besides Him? And God, He is the patron, and He gives life to the dead, and He is powerful over everything.
42:10  And whatever thing you disagreed about, then the judgment of it is God's. That is God, my Lord. Upon Him I rely and to Him I repent.
42:11  Originator of the heavens and the earth, He has made for you from yourselves mates; and of the cattle mates; He creates you thereby. There is nothing like Him, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
42:12  His are the keys of the heavens and the earth, He extends provision to whom He wills, and straitens. Indeed, He knows all things.
42:13  He has ordained for you of the religion what He instructed Noah with, and what We inspired you with, and what We instructed Abraham and Moses and Jesus with, to be steadfast in religion, and not separate therein; a great thing to the idolaters is that which you call them to. God chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever repents.
42:14  And they did not separate except after the knowledge had come to them, through envy between them; and had it not been for a word already passed from your Lord to a named term, it would surely have been decided between them; and indeed, those who were made to inherit the Book after them are surely in hesitating doubt of it.
42:15  So to that then call, and go straight as you are commanded, and do not follow their lusts; and say, 'I believe in what God has sent down of the Book; and I am commanded to be equitable between you. God is our Lord and your Lord; we have our works and you have your works; there is no argument between us and you. God will assemble us together and to Him is the destination.'
42:16  But those who argue about God after He has been responded to, their arguments shall be rebutted before their Lord; and upon them is wrath, and for them is severe punishment.
42:17  God is the one who has sent down the Book with the truth, and the balance; and what shall make you know? Perhaps the Hour is near.
42:18  Those who do not believe in it seek to hasten it; and those who believe are fearful of it and know that it is the truth. Lo, indeed, those who dispute concerning the Hour are certainly in far error.
42:19  God is subtle with His servants; He provides for whom He wills. And He is the Strong, the Mighty.
42:20  Whoever desires the tilth of the hereafter, We increase for him in his tilth; and whoever desires the tilth of the world, We give him of it; and in the hereafter he shall have no portion.
42:21  Or have they associates who have made lawful for them of the religion what God has not permitted? And if not for the word of decision, surely it would have been decided between them. And indeed, the wrongdoers, for them is painful punishment.
42:22  You will see the wrongdoers fearful of what they have earned, and it will befall them; and those who believe and do good works are in meadows of the gardens, they shall have what they please with their Lord; that, it is the great grace.
42:23  That is what God gives glad tidings of to His servants, those who believed and did good works. Say, 'I do not ask for it a payment, except the love among the relatives.' And whoever gains a good deed, We increase good for him therein; indeed, God is forgiving, grateful.
42:24  Or do they say he has forged against God a lie? But if God wills He would set a seal upon your heart; but God blots out the falsehood and verifies the truth by His words; indeed, He knows what the breasts own.
42:25  And He is the one who accepts the repentance from His servants and pardons the evil deeds, and He knows what you do.
42:26  And He answers those who believe and do good works, and gives them increase of His grace; and the disbelievers, for them is severe punishment.
42:27  And if God extends the provision to His servants surely they would rebel in the earth. But He sends down by measure what He wills; indeed, of His servants He is aware, seeing.
42:28  He is the one who sends down the rain after they have despaired; and disperses His mercy, and He is the praiseworthy patron.
42:29  And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and what He has dispersed in both of them of creatures; and He is able to gather them when He wills.
42:30  And whatever of calamity befalls you it is for what your hands have earned; And He pardons much;
42:31  And you are not able to escape in the earth; and besides God you have no patron nor helper.
42:32  And of His signs are the ships in the sea, like the mountains.
42:33  If He wills, He calms the wind, and they become motionless on its back; indeed, in that surely are signs for every patient, grateful one.
42:34  Or He makes them founder for what they have earned; and He pardons much.
42:35  And let those who dispute concerning Our signs know there is no place of refuge for them.
42:36  And whatever thing you are given it is a provision of the worldly life; and what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and rely on their Lord,
42:37  And those who avoid the great of sins and immoralities, and when they are angry they forgive,
42:38  And those who respond to their Lord, and are steadfast in the prayer, and their affairs go by counsel amongst themselves, and from what We have provided them they spend,
42:39  And those who when wrong befalls them, they defend themselves.
42:40  And the recompense of evil is evil like it; and whoever pardons and does well, then his reward is on God; indeed, He does not love the wrongdoers.
42:41  And surely whoever defends himself after he has been wronged, for those, there is no way against them.
42:42  The way is only against those who wrong mankind and rebel in the earth without right; those, for them is painful punishment.
42:43  And surely whoever is patient and forgives, indeed, that is surely of the determination of affairs.
42:44  And whomsoever God leads astray, he has no patron after Him; and you shall see the wrongdoers when they see the punishment say, 'Is there any way to return?'
42:45  And you shall see them exposed to it humbled with abasement, looking with a secret glance. And those who believe shall say, 'Indeed, the losers are those who have lost themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection.' Lo, indeed, the wrongdoers are in lasting punishment.
42:46  And they shall have no patrons to help them besides God, and whomsoever God leads astray, there is no way for him.
42:47  Respond to your Lord before a day comes from God for which there is no averting; no refuge for you on that day; and for you there is no denial.
42:48  And if they turn away, then We have not sent you as a guardian over them, nothing is upon you except the communication. And indeed, when We have made man taste mercy from us he rejoices in it; and if evil befalls them for what their hands have sent forward, then indeed, man is ungrateful.
42:49  God's is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, He creates what He wills, He grants to whom He wills females, and He grants to whom He wills males,
42:50  Or He pairs them, males and females; and He makes whom He wills barren; indeed, He is knowing, powerful.
42:51  And it is not for any mortal that God should speak to Him, except by inspiration, or from behind a veil, or by sending a messenger and inspiring, with His permission, what He wills; indeed, He is high, wise.
42:52  And thus We have inspired to you a spirit of Our command; you did not know what the Book was, nor the faith; but We made it a light, We guide with it whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, you surely guide to a straight way,
42:53  The way of God, the one for whom is what is in the heavens and what is in the earth. Lo, to God the affairs tend.
