81:1  When the sun is wrapped up
81:2  And when the stars are dulled.
81:3  And the mountains are moved away
81:4  And the ten-month pregnant camels are left neglected
81:5  And when the wild beasts are assembled together
81:6  And when the seas are made to spill
81:7  And when the souls are [severally] paired [with their deeds]
81:8  And when the infant buried alive, is asked
81:9  for which trespass was she slain.
81:10  And when the scrolls are laid open—
81:11  And when the sky is peeled away
81:12  And when the Jaīm is set ablaze
81:13  And when the Garden is brought near
81:14  Every soul will know what it had presented.
81:15  So, Nay! I swear by the elusive ones—
81:16  the fleeting, the veiled,
81:17  And by the night when it darkens—
81:18  And by the dawn when it unfolds
81:19  Verily, it assuredly is the [faithfully delivered] word of a noble messenger,
81:20  endowed with power, secure of status with the Owner of the Throne.
81:21  one obeyed there, trustworthy.
81:22  And your fellow man [i.e., the Prophet] is not possessed
81:23  He did indeed see him [i.e., Angel Gabriel] in the open horizon.
81:24  And he is not anywise holding back [knowledge] about the unseeable realm.
81:25  And not is it the word of Satan, the outcast.
81:26  So then where are you going?
81:27  It is nothing but a reminder for all realms—
81:28  for whoever among you wills that he stays aright.
81:29  And you do not will, except that Allah, the Rabb of all realms, wills.
