48:1  Indeed, We gave you victory, clear victory.
48:2  That God may forgive you what preceded of your sin and what came after, and complete His favour upon you, and guide you to a straight way,
48:3  And that God may help you, mighty help.
48:4  He is the one who sent down the tranquillity into the hearts of the believers that they may increase in faith with their faith; and for God are the armies of the heavens and the earth, and God is knowing, wise.
48:5  That He may make the believers, men and women, enter gardens beneath which the rivers flow, to dwell forever in it; and that He may cover from them their evil deeds; and that, with God is great success;
48:6  And that He may punish the hypocrites, men and women, and the idolaters and the idolatresses, those who think about God the thought of evil; upon them is the turn of evil fortune, and the anger of God is upon them and He has cursed them, and He has prepared Hell for them, and evil a destination.
48:7  And for God are the armies of the heavens and the earth; and God is mighty, wise.
48:8  Indeed We, We have sent you as a witness, and a herald of glad tidings and a warner;
48:9  That you may believe in God and His messenger, and aid Him and revere Him and glorify Him morning (Dawn to sunrise) and evening (Mid-afternoon to sunset).
48:10  Indeed, those who swear allegiance to you, only swear allegiance to God; the hand of God is above their hands. So he who broke his covenant, then he only breaks his covenant against himself; and he who fulfilled what he covenanted with God, then soon He will give him a great reward.
48:11  Those of the desert Arabs who were left behind will soon say to you, 'Our wealth and our families occupied us, so seek forgiveness for us.' They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say, 'Then who has power of anything for you from God if He desires harm with you or He desires profit with you?' Nay, God is aware of what you do.
48:12  Nay, you thought that the messenger and the believers would not return to their families ever; and that was beautified in your hearts. And you thought the thought of evil, and you were corrupt people.
48:13  And whoever did not believe in God and His messenger, then indeed We, We have prepared a blaze for the disbelievers.
48:14  And for God is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills; and God is forgiving, compassionate.
48:15  Those who were left behind will soon say when you go towards spoils, to take it, 'Let us follow you.' They desire that they change the words of God. Say, 'You shall not follow us; thus God said before.' Then soon they will say, 'Nay, you envy us.' Nay, they do not understand except a little.
48:16  Say to those of the desert Arabs who were left behind, 'Soon you will be called to people, possessors of strong valour, you will fight them or they will submit. Then if you obey, God will give you a good reward; and if you turn away, as you turned away before, He will punish you, painful punishment.'
48:17  There is no straitness on the blind, and no straitness on the lame, and no straitness on the sick. And whoever obeys God and His messenger, He will make him enter gardens beneath which the rivers flow; and whoever turns away, He will punish him, painful punishment.
48:18  Surely, certainly God was pleased with the believers when they swore allegiance to you beneath the tree; and He knew what was in their hearts, then He sent down the tranquillity upon them and He rewarded them with near victory,
48:19  And many spoils which they will take; and God is mighty, wise.
48:20  God promised you many spoils which you will take and He has hastened this for you, and He has restrained the hands of mankind from you; and that it may be a sign to the believers, and that He may guide you to a straight way;
48:21  And another, you did not have power over it; certainly, God encompassed it; and God is powerful over everything.
48:22  And if those who disbelieved had fought you, surely they would have turned the backs; then they would not find a patron nor a helper.
48:23  The course of God which certainly has passed away before, and you will not find change to the course of God.
48:24  And He is the one who restrained their hands from you and your hands from them in the interior of Makkah, after that He gave you victory over them; and God sees what you do.
48:25  They are the ones who disbelieved and hindered you from the Sacred Mosque, and the offering was detained from reaching its place of sacrifice; and if not for men believers and women believers whom you did not know, that you would trample on them, then a crime would befall you from them without knowledge, that God may make whom He wills enter into His mercy. If they were separate, surely We would have punished those who disbelieved among them, painful punishment.
48:26  When those who disbelieved put disdain in their hearts, the disdain of the time ignorance, then God sent down His tranquillity upon His messenger and upon the believers, and He made them cleave to the word of piety, and they were most suited for it and most worthy of it; and God knows everything.
48:27  Surely, certainly God verified the vision for His messenger in truth. Surely, you will definitely enter the sacred Mosque, if God wills, safe, having shaved your heads and shortened, not fearing; and He knew what you did not know, and He made besides that, near victory.
48:28  He is the one who sent His messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over the religion, all of it; and God sufficed for a witness.
48:29  Muhammad is the messenger of God, and those who are with Him are severe against the disbelievers, compassionate between them. You see them bowing, prostrating, seeking grace from God and pleasure. Their mark is in their faces from the trace of prostration; that is their similitude in the Torah. And their similitude in the Gospel is as a seed brought forth its sprouts, then it strengthened it, then it became thick, then it became straight upon its stem, pleasing the sowers; that He may enrage the disbelievers with them; God has promised those who believed and did good works among them forgiveness and great reward.
