48:1  It is absolutely without a doubt that We have granted you a manifest victory,
48:2  So that Allâh may redeem you from your former and your latter sins, fulfill his favor upon you, and guide you into the straight path.
48:3  And that Allâh may grant you a magnificent triumph.
48:4  He is the One Who sent down tranquility into the hearts of the Monotheistic Believers in order to add more Faith to their Faith. Unto Allâh belong the soldiers of the heavens and of the earth. Allâh is All-knowing and All-wise.
48:5  He will definitely admit the Monotheistic Believers, men and women, into gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide. And He will redeem them from their sins. That is, in the Sight of Allâh, the most ultimate success and the supreme one.
48:6  He will chastise the hypocritical men and women, the polytheistic men and women, who speculate evil speculations about Allâh. For them is the evil turn of fortune: The wrath of Allâh abides in them: He has cursed them and prepared the Hellfire for them (to abide therein). Worst indeed is that destination.
48:7  Unto Allâh belong the soldiers of the heavens and earth. Allâh is All-Mighty and All-wise.
48:8  Indeed, We have sent you as a witness, as a herald (bringing to the people the joyful news of how to attain eternal salvation), and as warner (giving the people sufficient warning about how to avoid ‘Hellfire’),
48:9  So that you, (O’ mankind), may believe in Allâh and His ‘Messenger’, and may honor and respect him, and may celebrate His infinite glory at the dawn and in the evening.
48:10  Indeed, those who swear allegiance to you swear allegiance to Allâh. The hand of Allâh is above their hands. Thus, whoever breaks his oath breaks only to his own harm, and whoever fulfills his covenant with Allâh, He will bestow on him an immense reward.
48:11  Those who remained behind of the Bedouin Arabs will say unto you: “We have been preoccupied with our properties and our families, and so ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say: "Who then possesses any power (to interfere) on your behalf with Allâh, if He intends to hurt you, or intend to let you obtain benefit? Nay, but Allâh is Ever All-Aware of all what you do.
48:12  Nay, but you speculated that the ‘Messenger’ and the ‘Monotheistic Believers’ would never return to their families. And that was decked out fair in your hearts. You speculated evil speculations. And you are a people doomed to perish."
48:13  Whoever believes not in Allâh and His ‘Messenger’ (needs to know that) We have certainly prepared for those who lack Faith (in Allâh) a blazing Fire.
48:14  Unto Allâh belongs the (absolute) Sovereignty of the heavens and of the earth. He forgives whom He wills, and chastises whom He wills. Allâh is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
48:15  Those who remained behind will say: "When you set forth to collect the spoils, let us follow you." They desire to change the Words of Allâh. Say: "You will not follow us. This is what Allâh had said beforehand." Then they will say: "Nay, you are just envious of us." Nay, They were incapable of understanding and recognizing the truth from falsehood except a little.
48:16  Say unto those who remained behind of the Bedouin Arabs: "You will be called against a folk of mighty prowess. You will fight against them until they surrender. Thus, if you obey, Allâh will give you a good reward. But if you turn away as you did before, He will chastise you with an agonizing chastisement."
48:17  There is no blame on the blind, nor is there blame on the lame, nor is there blame on the sick. Whoever obeys Allâh and His Messenger, He will admit him into gardens underneath which rivers flow. Whosoever turns back, He will chastise him with an agonizing chastisement.
48:18  Allâh indeed was well pleased with the Monotheistic Believers when they swore allegiance to you beneath the tree. He knew what was in their hearts, and so He sent down tranquility upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest,
48:19  And great spoils which they will take. Allâh is Ever All-Mighty, All-Wise.
48:20  Allâh has promised you many spoils that you will take, then He hastened this on for you, and withheld the hands of people from you; that it may be a sign for the ‘Monotheistic Believers’, and that He may guide you into a straight path;
48:21  Other gains which you could not obtain. Allâh has encompassed them. Allâh is capable of doing whatever He wills.
48:22  If it happens that those who excessively indulge in disbelief (in Allâh) fight against you, they will turn around and flee. And they will find no guardian nor a helper.
48:23  This is the Law of Allâh which has taken course aforetime. Never will you find in the law of Allâh any change.
48:24  He is the One Who has withheld their hands from you and your hands from them in the valley of Mecca after He had granted you victory over them. Allâh is Ever the All-Seer of all what you do.
48:25  They are the ones who refused to accept Allâh (into their life), prevented you from (entering) the ‘Sacred Mosque’, and debarred the offering from reaching its destination. If it had not been for certain ‘Monotheistic Believers’, men and women, whom you did not know, lest you might trample them, and thus, something hateful might have afflicted you unwittingly on their account- so that Allâh may admit into His Mercy who He wills. If they had been apart (from them), We would have chastised those who refused to accept Allâh (into their life) among them with an agonizing torment.
48:26  When those who lack faith (in Allâh) were motivated by fervency which abides in their hearts- the fervency of the days of ignorance- Allâh sent down His Tranquility upon His ‘Messenger’ and upon the ‘Monotheistic Believers’, and obliged them with the word of unfeigned piety as they were entitled to it and worthy of it. Allâh is ever Knowing of all things.
48:27  Verily, Allâh made the vision He vouchsafed to His ‘Messenger’ come true. You shall certainly enter the ‘Sacred Mosque’, if Allâh wills, in safety, with your heads shaved and hair cut short, not fearing. He knew what you knew not, so He has ordained before that a near conquest.
48:28  He is the One Who has sent his ‘Messenger’ with the source of spiritual insight and the religion of truth in order to make it prevail over all religions. Sufficient is Allâh as Witness.
48:29  ‘Muhammad’ is the ‘Messenger’ of Allâh, and those with him are harsh with those who lack faith (in Allâh), and merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and falling prostrating (in prayer) seeking bounty from Allâh and (His) pleasure. Their marks are on their faces from the traces of prostration. That is their likeness in the ‘Torah’, and their likeness in the ‘Gospel’; a seed that puts forth its sprout, then strengthens it, and it grows stout and rises straight on its stem, delighting the sowers, that He may outrage those who lack faith ( in Allâh) by them. Allâh has promised those who adhere firmly to Islamic monotheism and do righteous acts (in this ‘worldly life’), among them, forgiveness and an immense reward.
