14:1  Alif.Lam.Ra. A book, We have sent it down to you, that you may bring mankind forth from the darknesses to the light with the permission of their Lord to the way of the Mighty, the Praiseworthy,
14:2  God, the one who for Him is what is in the heavens and what is in the earth. And woe to the disbelievers from a severe punishment.
14:3  Those who prefer the worldly life to the hereafter and hinder from the way of God and seek crookedness in it, those are in far error.
14:4  And We have not sent a messenger except with the language of his people that he may make clear to them, then God causes whom He wills to go astray and He guides whom He wills; and He is the Mighty, the Wise.
14:5  And surely, certainly We sent Moses with Our signs saying, 'Bring your people forth from the darknesses to the light and remind them of the days of God.' Indeed, in that surely are signs for every patient, grateful one.
14:6  And when Moses said to his people, 'Remember the favour of God upon you when He saved you from the people of Pharaoh, they were imposing the evil of punishment on you and slaughtering your sons and letting your women live; and in that was a great trial from your Lord.’
14:7  And when your Lord announced, 'Surely, if you give thanks, surely, I will definitely give you more, and surely, if you are ungrateful, indeed My punishment is surely severe.'
14:8  And Moses said, 'If you are ungrateful, you and whoever is in the earth all together, then indeed, God is surely free of need, praiseworthy.'
14:9  Did the information of those who were before you not come to you? The people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud and those who were after them. None know them except God. Their messengers came to them with the clear proofs; then they returned their hands in their mouths and they said, 'Indeed we, we have disbelieved in what you have been sent with, and indeed, we are surely in hesitating doubt of what you call us to.'
14:10  Their messengers said, 'Doubt in God, the originator of the heavens and the earth? He calls you to forgive you your sins, and defer you to a named term.' They said, 'You are not except mortals like us, you desire to hinder us from what our forefathers used to serve. So come to us with a clear authority.'
14:11  Their messengers said to them, 'We are not except mortals like you, but God bestows favour on whom He wills of His servants. And it is not for us to come to you with an authority except with the permission of God. And upon God then let the believers rely.
14:12  And what ails us that we rely not on God, and certainly He has guided us in our ways? And surely, we will definitely be patient over what you annoyed us. And upon God then let those who rely rely.'
14:13  And those who disbelieved said to their messengers, 'Surely, we will definitely drive you out of our land or surely, you will definitely return in our religion.' Then their Lord inspired to them, 'Surely, We will definitely destroy the wrongdoers;
14:14  And surely We will definitely lodge you in the earth after them. That is for whoever fears My position and fears My threat.'
14:15  And they sought victory; and disappointed is every stubborn tyrant.
14:16  Behind him is hell; and he will be given to drink of pus water.
14:17  He will drink it, and he will almost not swallow it easily. And death will come to him from every place, and he will not die. And behind him is harsh punishment.
14:18  The similitude of those who disbelieved in their Lord, their works are like ash, the wind is intense with it in a violent wind day. They have no power over anything of what they have earned. That, it is the far error.
14:19  Did you not see that God created the heavens and the earth with the truth? If He wills He could remove you and come with a new creation;
14:20  And that is not mighty for God.
14:21  And they will come forth to God all together; then the weak will say to those who were proud, 'Indeed, we were for you followers, so can you relieve us of anything of the punishment of God?' They will say, 'Had God guided us, surely, we would have guided you. Equal on us whether we are impatient or we are patient, there is no place of refuge for us.'
14:22  And the devil will say when the affair has been decided, 'Indeed, God promised you the promise of truth and I promised you, then I failed you. And I had no authority over you except that I called you, then you responded to me. So do not blame me, and blame yourselves. I cannot aid you, and you cannot aid me. Indeed I, I disbelieved in what you associated with me before. Indeed, the wrongdoers, for them is painful punishment.'
14:23  And those who believed and did the good works, will be made to enter gardens beneath which the rivers flow, to dwell forever in it with the permission of their Lord. Their greeting in it is 'Peace.'
14:24  Did you not see how God struck a similitude? A good word like a good tree, its root is firm and its branches are in the heaven;
14:25  It gives its fruit every time with the permission of its Lord. And God strikes the similitudes for mankind, perhaps they may remember.
14:26  And the similitude of a bad word is like a bad tree uprooted above the earth, it has no stability.
14:27  God makes firm those who believed with the firm speech in the worldly life and in the hereafter; and God causes the wrongdoers to go astray. And God does what He wills.
14:28  Did you not look at those who substituted the favour of God for disbelief, and they moved their people to the home of ruin?
14:29  Hell, they will burn in it, and evil is the resting place.
14:30  And they made peers for God to cause to go astray from His way. Say, 'Enjoy, then indeed, your destination is to the fire.'
14:31  Say to My servants, those who believed, to be steadfast in the prayer and to spend of what We have provided them in secret and in public before that a day comes in which there is no trade and no friendship.
14:32  God is the one who created the heavens and the earth; and He sent down water from the heaven, then He brought forth the fruits with it, provision for you; and He subjected the ships to you, to sail in the sea by His command; and He subjected the rivers to you;
14:33  And He subjected the sun and the moon to you, both persevering; and He subjected the night and the day to you;
14:34  And He gave you of all what you asked Him. And if you count the favour of God, you will not number them; indeed, man is surely unjust, ungrateful.
14:35  And when Abraham said, 'My Lord, make this, the land, safe, and avert from me and my sons that we serve the idols.
14:36  My Lord, indeed they, they have caused many of mankind to go astray; so whoever has followed me, then indeed, he is of me; and whoever has rebelled against me, then indeed, You are forgiving, compassionate.
14:37  Our Lord! Indeed I, I have lodged some of my offspring in a valley not possessed of corn near Your Sacred House, our Lord! That they may be steadfast in the prayer, so make hearts of mankind love them and provide them with the fruits, perhaps they may give thanks.
14:38  Our Lord! Indeed You, You know what we conceal and what we publish; and nothing is hidden from God in the earth nor in the heaven.
14:39  Praise be to God, the one who gave Ishmael and Isaac to me upon the old age; indeed, my Lord is surely the hearer of prayer.
14:40  My Lord! Make me steadfast in the prayer, and among my offspring, our Lord! And accept my prayer.
14:41  Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents and the believers on the day the reckoning will stand.'
14:42  And definitely do not think God is heedless of what the wrongdoers do. He only defers them to a day in which the eyes will stare.
14:43  Hurrying, raising up their heads, their glance not returning to them, and their hearts air;
14:44  And warn mankind of a day the punishment will come to them, then those who did wrong will say, 'Our Lord! Defer us to a near term, we will respond to Your call, and we will follow the messengers.' And did you not swear before for you there is no cessation?
14:45  And you dwelt in the dwellings of those who wronged their souls, and it was clear to you how We did with them; and We struck the similitudes for you.
14:46  And certainly, they plotted their plot, and with God is their plot, even if their plot was that the mountains may cease from it.
14:47  So definitely do not think God fails His promise, His messengers; indeed, God is mighty, owner of vengeance.
14:48  On the day the earth will be substituted for other than the earth, and the heavens; and they will come forth to God, the One, the Subduer.
14:49  And you will see the sinners on that day bound together in fetters;
14:50  Their shirts of tar, and the fire covering their faces;
14:51  That God may recompense each soul what it earned; indeed, God is the swift in reckoning.
14:52  This is a communication for mankind, and that they may be warned with it, and that they may know that He is only one god, and that the possessors of understanding may remember.
