60:1  O Believers, do not accept My enemies and yours as trustees. [Don’t] offer them devotion after they have rejected the truth that has come to you. [Don’t offer them devotion] after they have driven out the messenger and yourselves because you believe in Allah your Lord. Do not come to struggle in My way and to seek My good pleasure, harboring secret admiration for them. I know full well all that you conceal and all that you reveal. Any of you who do this has strayed from the Straight Way.
60:2  If they were to overcome you, they would behave to you as enemies. [They would] use their hands and tongues against you for evil. They want you to disbelieve.
60:3  Of no benefit to you will be your relatives and your children on the Day of Resurrection. He will judge among you. Allah is All-seeing of all that you do.
60:4  An excellent example for you to follow is that of Abraham and those with him. They said to their people, “We are distinct from you and whatever you worship besides Allah. We have rejected you. Animosity and disgust have arisen between us and you forever unless you believe in Allah alone.” But Abraham said to his father, “I will pray for forgiveness for you, although I have no power to get anything on your behalf from Allah.” “Our Lord, in You we trust, and to You we repent. To You is our final goal.
60:5  “Our Lord, do not make us a stumbling block for the unbelievers, but forgive us, our Lord. Truly, You are the Victorious, the Perfectly Wise.”
60:6  Certainly, in them [Abraham’s family] was an excellent example for you to follow as those whose hope is in Allah and in the last day. If any resist, truly Allah is Independent, the Praised One.
60:7  It may be that Allah will grant love between you and those whom you consider enemies. Allah has such power. Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
60:8  Allah does not forbid you [from being kind] to those who do not fight you because of your faith. [As for those] who do not drive you from your homes, [Allah does not forbid you] from interacting kindly and justly with them. Allah loves people with integrity.
60:9  Allah only forbids you from trusting those who do fight you because of your faith and do drive you from your homes. Those who partner with them are in the wrong.
60:10  O Believers, when believing women come to you as refugees, examine them. Allah knows best about their faith. If you discover that they are believers, do not return them to the unbelievers. They are not lawful [as wives] for (the unbelievers), and (the unbelievers) are not lawful [husbands] for them. Pay (the unbelievers) what they have spent [on dowries]. No blame will be on you if you marry them upon payment of their dowries to them. Do not, however, maintain marriage with unbelieving women. Ask for what you have spent on their dowries. Let (the unbelieving men) ask for what they have spent. That is the judgment of Allah. He will judge among you. Allah is the All-knowing, the Perfectly Wise.
60:11  If any of your wives desert you to go to the unbelievers and you have a replacement, then pay to those whose wives have deserted them the equivalent of what they had spent [on dowries]. Fear Allah in whom you believe.
60:12  O Prophet, believing women may come to you to take the oath of loyalty to you. They will vow to worship no associate with Allah, to not steal, to not commit acts of sexual immorality, to not kill their children, to not commit slander that purposely forges lies, to not disobey you in any just matter. Then accept their vows and pray to Allah for forgiveness. Truly, Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
60:13  O Believers, do not make allies of people on whom is the wrath of Allah. They are already in despair of the afterlife just as the unbelievers are in despair about those in graves.
