| And he (was) arrogant | | wa-is'takbara | | وَاسْتَكْبَرَ | | ك ب ر | |
| and his hosts | | wajunūduhu | | وَجُنُودُهُ | | ج ن د | |
| the land | | l-arḍi | | الْأَرْضِ | | ا ر ض | |
| without | | bighayri | | بِغَيْرِ | | غ ى ر | |
| right, | | l-ḥaqi | | الْحَقِّ | | ح ق ق | |
| and they thought | | waẓannū | | وَظَنُّوا | | ظ ن ن | |
| that they | | annahum | | أَنَّهُمْ | | ا ن ن | |
| to Us | | ilaynā | | إِلَيْنَا | | ا ل ى | |
| will be returned. | | yur'jaʿūna | | يُرْجَعُونَ | | ر ج ع | |
