Today's Ayat for Tuesday, 2020-10-20 / 3 Rabi' I 1442

[And God] said: "What has kept thee from prostrating thyself when I commanded thee?" Answered [Iblis]: "I am better than he: Thou hast created me out of fire, whereas him Thou hast created out of clay."
-- al-A'raf 7:12    as rendered by Muhammad Asad

Commentary/example:

Here we see Satan/Iblis' first evil invention, he begins the history of racial discrimination. Satan thought himself superior to Adam (AS) on account of his origins. As happened that day, Satan has misled many of Adam’s descendants into also believing themselves greater to others, causing them to persecute and exploit their fellow persons. Quite frequently, religion has been used to give good reasons for racism.  Those reasons are from Man's avowed enemy.

Today's Ayat for Sunday, 2020-10-11 / 24 Safar 1442

But whoever repents after their wrongdoing and mends their ways, Allah will surely turn to them in forgiveness. Indeed, Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
  -- al-Ma`ida 5:39
as rendered by The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab

 Forgive-yourself-5-39.png

Commentary/example:

Forgive yourself. Maybe you're not where you want to be in life. You've made mistakes. It's part of being human. You don't have a time machine so torturing yourself over things in the past does no one -- not you or anyone else -- any good.

Forgive yourself, learn the lessons, and move forward.

BUT LEARN THAT LESSON.

For, [true] servants of the Most Gracious are [only] they who walk gently on earth,
and who, whenever the foolish address them, reply with [words of] peace.
  -- al-Furqan 25:63
   as rendered by Muhammad Asad

Commentary/example:

When we encounter hate content in the internet, we can make it a point to not participate in it even if we have a valid counterpoint to offer.
People spreading hate are looking for attention, not a healthy conversation.
All  we do by offering a view is fan the flames further.
