| Arabic | | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا الْعِجْلَ سَيَنَالُهُمْ غَضَبٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَذِلَّةٌ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُفْتَرِين |  |

| the calf, | l-ʿij'la | الْعِجْلَ | ع ج ل | |
| will reach them | sayanāluhum | سَيَنَالُهُمْ | ن ى ل | |
| their Lord, | rabbihim | رَبِّهِمْ | ر ب ب | |
| and humiliation | wadhillatun | وَذِلَّةٌ | ذ ل ل | |
| the life | l-ḥayati | الْحَيَوةِ | ح ى ى | |
| (of) the world. | l-dun'yā | الدُّنْيَا | د ن و | |
| And thus | wakadhālika | وَكَذَلِكَ | ذ ل ك | |
| We recompense | najzī | نَجْزِي | ج ز ى | |
| the ones who invent (falsehood). | l-muf'tarīna | الْمُفْتَرِينَ | ف ر ى | |
