| Arabic | | وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِالْعَذَابِ وَلَوْلَا أَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى لَّجَاءَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ وَلَيَأْتِيَنَّهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُون |  |

| And they ask you to hasten | | wayastaʿjilūnaka | | وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ | | ع ج ل | |
| [with] the punishment. | | bil-ʿadhābi | | بِالْعَذَابِ | | ع ذ ب | |
| (for) a term | | ajalun | | أَجَلٌ | | ا ج ل | |
| appointed, | | musamman | | مُسَمًّى | | س م و | |
| surely (would) have come to them | | lajāahumu | | لَجَاءَهُمُ | | ج ى ا | |
| the punishment. | | l-ʿadhābu | | الْعَذَابُ | | ع ذ ب | |
| But it will surely come to them | | walayatiyannahum | | وَلَيَأْتِيَنَّهُمْ | | ا ت ى | |
| suddenly | | baghtatan | | بَغْتَةً | | ب غ ت | |
| perceive. | | yashʿurūna | | يَشْعُرُونَ | | ش ع ر | |
