| Arabic | | لَّيْسَ الْبِرَّ أَن تُوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَلَٰكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالْكِتَابِ وَالنَّبِيِّينَ وَآتَى الْمَالَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ ذَوِي الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْيَتَامَىٰ وَالْمَسَاكِينَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ وَالسَّائِلِينَ وَفِي الرِّقَابِ وَأَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ وَآتَى الزَّكَاةَ وَالْمُوفُونَ بِعَهْدِهِمْ إِذَا عَاهَدُوا وَالصَّابِرِينَ فِي الْبَأْسَاءِ وَالضَّرَّاءِ وَحِينَ الْبَأْسِ أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُتَّقُون |  |

| [and] but | walākinna | وَلَكِنَّ | ل ك ن | |
| the righteous[ness] | l-bira | الْبِرَّ | ب ر ر | |
| believes | āmana | ءَامَنَ | ا م ن | |
| in Allah | bil-lahi | بِاللَّهِ | ا ل ه | |
| and the Day | wal-yawmi | وَالْيَوْمِ | ى و م | |
| [the] Last, | l-ākhiri | الْءَاخِرِ | ا خ ر | |
| and the Angels, | wal-malāikati | وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ | م ل ك | |
| and the Book, | wal-kitābi | وَالْكِتَابِ | ك ت ب | |
| and the Prophets, | wal-nabiyīna | وَالنَّبِيِّينَ | ن ب ا | |
| and gives | waātā | وَءَاتَى | ا ت ى | |
| the wealth | l-māla | الْمَالَ | م و ل | |
| spite of his love (for it) | ḥubbihi | حُبِّهِ | ح ب ب | |
| the near relatives, | l-qur'bā | الْقُرْبَى | ق ر ب | |
| and the orphans, | wal-yatāmā | وَالْيَتَامَى | ى ت م | |
| and the needy, | wal-masākīna | وَالْمَسَاكِينَ | س ك ن | |
| and (of) | wa-ib'na | وَابْنَ | ب ن و | |
| the wayfarer, | l-sabīli | السَّبِيلِ | س ب ل | |
| and those who ask, | wal-sāilīna | وَالسَّائِلِينَ | س ا ل | |
| freeing the necks (slaves) | l-riqābi | الرِّقَابِ | ر ق ب | |
| and (who) establish | wa-aqāma | وَأَقَامَ | ق و م | |
| the prayer, | l-ṣalata | الصَّلَوةَ | ص ل و | |
| and give | waātā | وَءَاتَى | ا ت ى | |
| the zakah, | l-zakata | الزَّكَوةَ | ز ك و | |
| and those who fulfill | wal-mūfūna | وَالْمُوفُونَ | و ف ى | |
| their covenant | biʿahdihim | بِعَهْدِهِمْ | ع ه د | |
| they make it; | ʿāhadū | عَاهَدُوا | ع ه د | |
| and those who are patient | wal-ṣābirīna | وَالصَّابِرِينَ | ص ب ر | |
| [the] suffering | l-basāi | الْبَأْسَاءِ | ب ا س | |
| and [the] hardship, | wal-ḍarāi | وَالضَّرَّاءِ | ض ر ر | |
| and (the) time | waḥīna | وَحِينَ | ح ى ن | |
| (of) [the] stress. | l-basi | الْبَأْسِ | ب ا س | |
| Those | ulāika | أُولَئِكَ | ا و ل ا ء | |
| (are) the ones who | alladhīna | الَّذِينَ | ا ل ل ذ ى | |
| are true | ṣadaqū | صَدَقُوا | ص د ق | |
| and those, | wa-ulāika | وَأُولَئِكَ | ا و ل ا ء | |
| (are) the righteous. | l-mutaqūna | الْمُتَّقُونَ | و ق ى | |
