Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli
And they did not recognize Allah with the recognition due to Him when they said: ' Allah has not sent down anything to any human being.' Say : ' Who sent down the Book that was brought by Moses as a light and a guidance to men, which you put into papers, revealing (a part of) it and concealing much (of it) ; and (by means of which) you were taught what you did not know, (neither) you nor your fathers ? ' Say: ' Allah (has sent it down) ;' then leave them sporting in their vain discourses
Al-muntakhab fi tafsir al-Qur‘an al-Karim
And they* did not credit Allah with the attributes asserted as His own; they failed to ponder His marvels crediting His Omnipotence. They said: "Never did Allah disclose divine knowledge to a human being nor did He admit discourse directly or indirectly to His Omnipotence and Authority". Ask them; "Who then had sent down the Book you knew that Mussa presented to his people, the Book flowing forth with illumination and enlightenment to illuminate the intellect of mankind; the Book the Jews divided and again broke up into subdivisions and published the parts they planned to disclose and concealed the many parts which would publish their shame and their immorality; the Book which imparted to them divine knowledge and acquainted them intellectually with facts neither they nor their fathers had ever known". "Is it not Allah!" Let them Muhammad drown themselves in the nonsensical and engage in amusement which is the happiness of those who cannot think. * The Meccan Infidels and the Jew

And they did not estimate Allah with the estimation due to Him when they said, "Allah did not send down anything on man." Say, "Who (then) sent down the book with which Musa had come, (in which there was) light and guidance for mankind, of which you have made (written) pages, (part of) which you manifest while you hide much, and (through which) you were taught that which you did not know, you and your forefathers?" Say, "Allah," then leave them sporting in their involvement (of vain talk).

No just estimate of God do they make when they say: "Nothing doth God send down to man (by way of revelation)" Say: "Who then sent down the Book which Moses brought?- a light and guidance to man: But ye make it into (separate) sheets for show, while ye conceal much (of its contents): therein were ye taught that which ye knew not- neither ye nor your fathers." Say: "God (sent it down)": Then leave them to plunge in vain discourse and trifling

And (did) not they appraise Allah (with) His true appraisal, when they said, "Allah did not reveal on a human being [of] anything." Say, "Who revealed the Book which brought [it] Musa (as) a light and guidance for the people? You make it (into) parchments, you disclose (some of) it and you conceal much (of it). And you were taught what not you knew and not your forefathers." Say, "Allah (revealed it)." Then leave them in their discourse - playing
