And, (O Most Esteemed Messenger,) We have revealed the Book to you (also) with the truth which confirms the Book that preceded it and stands as a guardian over (the actual commands and contents contained in) it. So judge between them according to these (commandments) which Allah has revealed. And do not follow their desires turning away from the truth that has come to you. We have designed for each one of you a discrete law and an all-embracing way of life. Had Allah so willed, He would have made you all one Umma ([Community] agreeing to the same law). But He wants to test you in these (separately given sets of commandments) which He has given you (suiting your respective life situations). So, make haste in doing pious works. To Allah have you all to return. He will then enlighten you on (the truth and falsehood in all the matters) in which you used to disagree
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We have revealed to you this perfect Book comprising the truth and wisdom, fulfilling (the prophecies of) the Scripture which was present before it and stands as a guardian over it, then judge between them according to that which Allah has revealed (of the Qur'an), and do not deviate from the truth that has come to you in order to follow their low desires. For each one of you did We prescribe a spiritual law and a well-defined way (- a code in secular matters). And if Allah had so willed He might have made you all one community (by force), but He wishes to show your perfection (the capacities and capabilities) that He has endowed you with. Therefore vie one with another in (doing) good deeds. To Allah is the return of you all, then He will inform you as to that wherein you were at variance
Muhsin Khan & Muhammad al-Hilali
And We have sent down to you (O Muhammad SAW) the Book (this Quran) in truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it and Mohayminan (trustworthy in highness and a witness) over it (old Scriptures). So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging away from the truth that has come to you. To each among you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way. If Allah willed, He would have made you one nation, but that (He) may test you in what He has given you; so strive as in a race in good deeds. The return of you (all) is to Allah; then He will inform you about that in which you used to differ

And We have sent down to thee the Book with the truth, confirming the Book that was before it, and assuring it. So judge between them according to what God has sent down, and do not follow their caprices, to forsake the truth that has come to thee. To every one of you We have appointed a right way and an open road. If God had willed, He would have made you one nation; but that He may try you in what has come to you. So be you forward in good works; unto God shall you return, all together; and He will tell you of that whereon you were at variance

We have also sent down unto thee the book of the Koran with truth, confirming that scripture which was revealed before it; and preserving the same safe from corruption. Judge therefore between them according to that which God hath revealed; and follow not their desires, by swerving from the truth which hath come unto thee. Unto every of you have we given a law, and an open path; and if God had pleased, he had surely made you one people; but he hath thought fit to give you different laws, that he might try you in that which he hath given you respectively. Therefore strive to excel each other in good works: Unto God shall ye all return, and then will he declare unto you that concerning which ye have disagreed
Edward Henry Palmer
We have revealed to thee the Book in truth verifying what was before it, and preserving it; judge then between them by what God has revealed, and follow not their lusts, turning away from what is given to thee of the truth. For each one of you have we made a law and a pathway; and had God pleased He would have made you one nation, but He will surely try you concerning that which He has brought you. Be ye therefore emulous in good deeds; to God is your return altogether, and He will let you know concerning that wherein ye do dispute
John Medows Rodwell
And to thee we have sent down the Book of the Koran with truth, confirmatory of previous Scriptures, and their safeguard. Judge therefore between them by what God hath sent down, and follow not their desires by deserting the truth which hath come unto thee. To every one of you have we given a rule and a beaten track. And if God had pleased He had surely made you all one people; but He would test you by what He hath given to each. Be emulous, then, in good deeds. To God shall ye all return, and He will tell you concerning the subjects of your disputes
N J Dawood (2014)
And to you We have revealed the Book with the Truth. It confirms the Book which came before it and supersedes it. Therefore pronounce judgement among them by what God has revealed and do not follow their whims or swerve from the Truth made known to you. For each of you We have ordained a law and assigned a path. Had God pleased, He could have made of you but one community: but it is His wish to prove you by that which He has given you. Vie with each other in good works; to God shall you all return and He will resolve your differences for you

Then We sent unto you the book by the truth testifying to that which went before it from the book and superseding above it. Therefore judge between them by that which Allah has sent down and do not follow their vain desires departing from that which has come to you from the truth. For each one of you We have appointed a law and a way and had Allah so willed, He certainly would have made you one nation but it is that He may try you through that which He has given you therefore vie with one another in the good things. Unto Allah is your place of returning altogether and then He will inform you about all that wherein you used to disagree.

We have also revealed to you this Glorious Qur’ān with the Full Knowledge of Truth, authenticating the Scripture that came before It and preserving the same safe from corruption. Now, therefore, judge between them by what Allâh has revealed. And do not voluntarily and consciously abandon the Full Knowledge of Truth that has been given unto you in favour of their own whims. To each of you We have prescribed a code of law and a particular method. Had Allâh willed, He could have made you one community. But (His Divine wisdom is) to try you in what He has given you respectively. Now, therefore, compete eagerly with each other in doing virtuous deeds since you are all bound to return to Allâh. Verily, He will inform you of that in which you used to differ.

And We revealed to you the Book in truth, confirming what came before it as scripture and preserving it, so judge between them with what Allah has revealed and do not follow their desires away from the truth which has come to you. To each we have given a path and a direction, and if Allah willed, He would have made you a single community but for Him to test you in what He had given you, so pursue what is right, to Allah is your return altogether, then He will inform you about what you used to differ in.
Fadel Soliman, Bridges‘ Translation
And We sent down to yousg the Scripture with truth, confirming whatever scripture that preceded it and an overseer over it. So judge between them according to what Allah has sent down, and do not follow their whims instead of the truth that has come to you. For each of youpl We have assigned a legislation and a method. And had Allah willed, He could have made you a single community, but in order to test you through what He has brought you; so race towards good works. To Allah is your return, all of you, then He will inform you regarding whatever you used to differ over.

To you [Muhammed] We sent the Book in truth, confirming and guarding (the Scriptures) that came previously. Differentiate among them [the people of the Gospel] by what Allah has revealed. Do not follow their vain desires [to convert to their sects], which would be a departure from the truth that has come to you. To each [society] among you We have prescribed a law and an evident way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single society, except to test you in what He has given you. Therefore, strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah. He will eventually settle all your disputes.
Irving & Mohamed Hegab
We have sent you down the Book (the Quran) with the Truth, to confirm what was already there from the [previous] Book (all God’s books including Bible), and to safeguard it [from distortion]. Judge among them according to whatever Allah (God) has sent down (the Quran), and do not follow their whims concerning any Truth that has been given to you. We have given each of you a code of law plus a program [for action]. If Allah (God) had wished, He might have made you into one community, compete rather in doing good deeds so He may test you by means of what He has given you. To Allah (God) is your return entirely, and He will notify you concerning anything you have been disagreeing about.

And We sent down to you the Book, with the right, confirming with what is between its hand from the Book, and domineering upon it. So, judge between them with what Allah has sent down, and do not follow their desires away from what has come to you from the right. For each of you We have set up legislation and a method. And if Allah had willed, He could have set up you a single community, but He tries you within what He has given you. So, race in goodness. To Allah is your return, altogether; so, He will inform you with what you were differing within it?

And to you We have revealed the Book, setting forth the truth, confirming the Scriptures which had already been revealed before it and superseding them. Judge, then, between them in accordance with what God has revealed and do not follow their vain desires, forsaking thereby the truth that has come to you. To every one of you We have given a code of law and a way of life. Had God so willed, He could have made you all one community; but (it is His wish) to test you by means of that which He has bestowed on you. Vie, then, with one another in doing good works. To God you shall all return. He will then make you understand all that over which you now differ.

We revealed to you a reality that confirms, protects, witnesses, rules over and encapsulates the Truth pertaining to the knowledge of the reality (sunnatullah) that came before you... So judge between them with what Allah has revealed... Do not leave what has come to you as the Truth and follow their empty fancies and desires... To each of you We prescribed a law (rules and conditions regarding lifestyle) and a method (a system based on fixed realities not subject to change with time). Had Allah willed, He would surely have made you a single community! But He wanted to try you with what He gave you (so you can see for yourself what you are)... So hasten to do good! To Allah you shall all return... He will inform you of the things you have been dividing and disputing over.

And We have sent down unto you the Book with the truth, confirming that which was before it of the Book and as a guardian over it. Therefore judge between them by what Allah has sent down and do not follow their vain desirs against the truth that has come to you; for every one of you We appointed a law and a (clear) way. And if Allah had pleased, He would have made you (all) a single community, but He might try you in what He has given you. Therefore strive you excelling one another in virtuous deeds; unto Allah is the return of you all, and then He shall inform you of that in which you used to differ
Al-muntakhab fi tafsir al-Qur‘an al-Karim
And We have sent down to you O Muhammad the Quran confirming the Scriptures revealed before it -AL-Tawrah and AL-Injil- and serving as the Book of reference for matters disputed among Ahl AL-Kitab, for it is the umpire of all preceding Scriptures, and the decision based on its precepts shall have to be, accepted as final. Therefore, base your Judgments Muhammad on its precepts revealed by Allah, and do not follow their desires which deviate from the truth imparted to you. In fact, for each of you people Jews, Christians and Muslims have We authoritatively determined a law and a course to follow, and had Allah willed, He would have made all of you one conjoint body united in feeling and thought. But He meant to test your qualities with what He has ordained for-you. Therefore, contend you people for good will and for deeds imprinted with wisdom and piety; you are all destined to go back to Allah, and there and then shall He inform you of the detailed particulars of all the points upon which the whole unreasoning turned

And We have sent down to you the book (Quran) containing the truth, a confirmation of what was before it of the book (Divine Law) and a guardian over it (earlier Divine Law), so judge between them by that which Allah has sent down and do not follow their desires (turning away) from the truth which has come to you. For everyone of you We have appointed a law and a way (to follow the law). And had Allah willed He would have made you a single community, but (He did not do so) to test you through that which He has given you, so compete in good deeds. Towards Allah is your return, of all (of you), then He will inform you about that in which you used to differ.
