O you who have attained to faith! Offend not against the symbols set up by God, nor against the sacred month [of pilgrimage], nor against the garlanded offerings, nor against those who flock to the Inviolable Temple, seeking favour with their Sustainer and His goodly acceptance; and [only] after your pilgrimage is over are you free to hunt. And never let your hatred of people who would bar you from the Inviolable House of Worship lead you into the sin of aggression: but rather help one another in furthering virtue and God-consciousness, and do not help one another in furthering evil and enmity; and remain conscious of God: for, behold, God is severe in retribution
The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab
O believers! Do not violate Allah’s rituals ˹of pilgrimage˺, the sacred months, the sacrificial animals, the ˹offerings decorated with˺ garlands, nor those ˹pilgrims˺ on their way to the Sacred House seeking their Lord’s bounty and pleasure. When pilgrimage has ended, you are allowed to hunt. Do not let the hatred of a people who once barred you from the Sacred Mosque provoke you to transgress. Cooperate with one another in goodness and righteousness, and do not cooperate in sin and transgression. And be mindful of Allah. Surely Allah is severe in punishment.

Once your pilgrimage is over, then you are free to hunt. Never let your hatred for the people who barred you from the Sacred Sanctuary lead you to break the law. Help one another to do what is right-- to always be mindful of God, and do not encourage one another in sin and hostility. Always be mindful of God, because His punishment is severe.

Help not one another unto sin and transgression, but keep your duty to Allah. Lo! Allah is severe in punishment

Violate not the sanctity of the Symbols of Allah, nor of the Sacred Month, nor of the animals brought for sacrifice, nor the garlanded people or animals, etc. (Marked by the garlands on their necks made from the outer part of the treestems (of Makkah) for their security), nor the people coming to the Sacred House (Makkah), seeking the bounty and good pleasure of their Lord. But when you finish the Ihram (of Hajj or Umrah), you may hunt, and let not the hatred of some people in (once) stopping you from AlMasjidalHaram (at Makkah) lead you to transgression (and hostility on your part). Help you one another in AlBirr and AtTaqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Severe in punishment

Arthur John Arberry
O believers, profane not God's waymarks nor the holy month, neither the offering, nor the necklaces, nor those repairing to the Holy House seeking from their Lord bounty and good pleasure. But when you have quit your pilgrim sanctity, then hunt for game. Let not detestation for a people who barred you from the Holy Mosque move you to commit aggression. Help one another to piety and godfearing; do not help each other to sin and enmity. And fear God; surely God is terrible in retribution
George Sale
O true believers, violate not the holy rites of God, nor the sacred month, nor the offering, nor the ornaments hung thereon, nor those who are travelling to the holy house, seeking favour from their Lord, and to please Him. But when ye shall have finished your pilgrimage; then hunt. And let not the malice of some, in that they hindered you from entering the sacred temple, provoke you to transgress, by taking revenge on them in the sacred months. Assist one another according to justice and piety, but assist not one another in injustice and malice: Therefore fear God; for God is severe in punishing
Edward Henry Palmer
O ye who believe! do not deem the monuments of God to be lawful, nor the sacred month, nor the offering, nor its neck garlands, nor those who sojourn at the sacred house, craving grace from their Lord and His pleasure. But when ye are in lawful state again, then chase; and let not ill-will against the people who turned you from the Sacred Mosque make you transgress; but help one another in righteousness and piety, and do not help one another to sin and enmity; but fear God, - verily, God is keen to punish
John Medows Rodwell
O Believers! violate neither the rites of God, nor the sacred month Muharram, nor the offering, nor its ornaments, nor those who press on to the sacred house seeking favour from their Lord and his good pleasure in them. But when all is over, then take to the chase: and let not ill will at those who would have kept you from the sacred mosque lead you to transgress, but rather be helpful to one another according to goodness and piety, but be not helpful for evil and malice: and fear ye God. Verily, God is severe in punishing
N J Dawood (2014)
Believers, do not violate the rites of God, or the sacred month, or the offerings or their ornaments, or those that repair to the Sacred House seeking their Lord‘s grace and pleasure. Once your Pilgrimage is ended, you shall be free to go hunting. Do not allow your hatred for those who would debar you from the Holy Mosque to lead you to commit aggression. Help one another in what is good and pious, and help not one another in sin and belligerence. And fear God; God is stern in retribution

Fode Drame
O you who believe! Do not violate the rights of Allah nor the sacred month nor the consecrated gifts nor the garlanded animals nor those who are aiming for the sacred house seeking the bounty from their Lord and goodly pleasure. But once you are free from the pilgrimage rituals then hunt and let not the hatred of people incite you to evil doing only because they had barred you from the sacred mosque that you transgress [against them]. And assist one another unto the piety and unto Allah’s reverence and do not assist one another unto impiety and unto transgression and revere Allah. Truly Allah is Severe in chastisement.
Munir Mezyed
O' you who Live by Faith! Do not infringe the sanctity of the symbols, nor the Sacred Months, nor the offerings, nor the garlanded, nor the people going to the Sacred House seeking the grace and pleasure of their Lord. When you are free from the duties of Pilgrimage, then you can go for hunting. Do not let your hatred of a folk- because they hindered you from entering into the Sacred Mosque - lead you to commit aggression. Now, therefore, cooperate with each other on righteousness and piety and do not collaborate with each other on iniquity and transgression. Most certainly Allâh is extremely severe in punishment.
Sahib Mustaqim Bleher
O you believers, do not desanctify the rites of Allah, nor the sacred month, nor the offering, nor the traditions, nor those on their way to the house of Allah seeking favour from their Lord and contentment, and when you come out of the state of being a pilgrim, you may go hunting, and do not let the condition of people who want to prevent you from the sacred mosque mislead you to transgress, and help each other in righteousness and awareness (of Allah) and do not help each other in sin and enmity, and beware of Allah, for Allah is severe in retribution.
Linda “iLHam” Barto
O Believers, do not violate the rites of Allah, the sacred month, the animals brought for sacrifice, the garlands [signifying such animals]. [Do not violate] the people seeking the sacred house to find the bounty and good pleasure of their Lord. When you are finished with the pilgrimage, you may hunt. Do not let the hatred of some people who withhold you from the Sacred Mosque cause you to sin. Help one another in righteousness and holiness. Do not help one another in sin and trouble-making. Fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is strict in punishment.
Fadel Soliman, Bridges‘ Translation
O you who have attained faith, do not violate Allah’s rites, nor the inviolable month, nor the offerings, nor the garlanded, nor those heading for the Inviolable House seeking grace and good pleasure from their Lord. And when you have left the pilgrim sanctity, then hunt. And let not the hatred of any people incite you to transgress because they barred you from the Inviolable Mosque. And cooperate with one another in showing virtue and mindfulness (of God), and do not cooperate with one another in sin and hostility. And be mindful of Allah; indeed, Allah is stern in retribution.
Irving & Mohamed Hegab
You who believe, do not profane Allah (God)'s monuments nor the hallowed month, nor the offerings and [beasts with] garlands, nor those intent on visiting the Hallowed House to seek bounty and approval from their Lord. Once you are permitted (when you go out of Ihram) to [go on your way], then [you may] go hunting. Do not let ill will towards any folk incite you, just because they blocked your way to the Hallowed Mosque, so that you act aggressive; cooperate with one another for virtue and heedfulness, and do not cooperate with one another for the purpose of vice and aggression. Heed Allah (God) [Alone]; Allah (God) is Strict with punishment!
Samy Mahdy
O you who believed! Do not permit (Halal) Allah’s symbols, nor the Sacred Month, nor the gifts, nor the garlands (that mark out such animals), nor those who are heading for the Sacred House seeking from their Lord’s bounty and satisfaction. And if you became out of Ihram state, you could hunt. And do not let the hatred of a kinfolk who hindered you about the Sacred Mosque, criminalize you to transgress. And aid upon the devotion, and the piety, and do not aid upon the sin and the aggression. And show the piety of Allah. Surely Allah is severe in the punishment.
Sayyid Qutb
Believers, do not offend against the symbols set up by God, or against the sacred month, or the offerings or the garlands, or against those who repair to the Sacred House, seeking God's grace and pleasure. Only when you are clear of the Sacred Precincts and released from the state of consecration may you hunt. Do not let your hatred of people who would debar you from the Sacred Mosque lead you into aggression; but rather help one another in furthering righteousness and piety, and do not help one another in furthering evil and aggression. Have fear of God, for God is severe in retribution.
Ahmed Hulusi
O believers! Do not disrespect the rites of Allah (the signs of Allah; that which evokes or causes to feel and perceive Allah) the sacred months, the sacrifices offered to the Baytullah, special sacrifices and to those who come to the Bayt in search of the bounty and the pleasure of their Rabb... You can hunt once you come out of ihram... Do not let your hatred towards a people who (previously) prevented you from entering the Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress your boundaries... Help each other based on the essence of the reality (albirra) and taqwa (protecting yourself in the way of Allah from the inadequacies of your identity) not on wrongdoing and enmity... Protect yourselves from Allah (as He will enforce upon you the consequences of your actions). Certainly Allah is shadid-ul iqab (the Enforcer of the consequences of wrongdoings).
Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli
O' you who have Faith! do not profane Allah's Monuments, nor the sacred Month nor the offering, nor the sacrificial animals with garlands, nor those going to the Sacred House seeking the grace and pleasure of their Lord. And when you are free from the pilgrim garb (and acts of Umrah) , then (you can) hunt. And let not hatred of a people (once) hindered you from the sacred Mosque move you to commit aggression. And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and transgression; and be in awe of Allah (for) , verily, Allah is severe in penalty
Al-muntakhab fi tafsir al-Qur‘an al-Karim
O you whose hearts have been impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues: Do not desecrate Allah’s religious rites* nor violate the Sacred Month** (unless attacked) or interfere with the offerings, nor disturb the garlands mantling them identifying the sacrifice nor obstruct the way against those seeking grace, being bound for the Sacrosanct House betaking themselves to Providence for His bounty. And when you have concluded the proceedings of Allah’s religious rites and divested yourselves of the pilgrim's garb and moved away from the environs of the Sacrosanct House, you may engage in the chase if you like. And let not your hatred of a people, once your enemies who malevolently obstructed your way to the Sacrosanct House, stir your emotions to retaliate. And unite in good will to effectuate moral virtue and piety and not in sin, transgression and impiety, and entertain the profound reverence dutiful to Allah; Who punishes severely
Mir Aneesuddin
O you who believe ! do not violate the sanctity of the symbols of Allah nor the sacred month nor the offerings nor the victims with garlands nor those resorting to the Sacred House seeking the grace and pleasure of their Fosterer. And when you have removed your pilgrim dress (and are free from the obligations of the pilgrimage) then (you may) hunt. And do not let the hatred of a people who turned you away from the Sacred Mosque (earlier), incite you to exceed the limits. And help one another in righteousness and guarding (against evil) but do not help one another in sin and transgression and fear Allah, Allah is certainly severe in requiting (evil).
