AYAH an-Nahl 16:28

Arabic الَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّاهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ ظَالِمِي أَنفُسِهِمْ فَأَلْقَوُا السَّلَمَ مَا كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ مِن سُوءٍ بَلَىٰ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ zoom
Transliteration Allatheena tatawaffahumu almala-ikatu thalimee anfusihim faalqawoo alssalama ma kunna naAAmalu min soo-in bala inna Allaha AAaleemun bima kuntum taAAmaloona zoom
Transliteration-2 alladhīna tatawaffāhumu l-malāikatu ẓālimī anfusihim fa-alqawū l-salama mā kunnā naʿmalu min sūin balā inna l-laha ʿalīmun bimā kuntum taʿmalūna zoom

 Those whom - take them in death the Angels (while) wronging themselves, then they would offer the submission, "Not we were doing any evil." Nay, indeed, Allah (is) All-Knower of what you used (to) do. zoom


Generally Accepted Translations of the Meaning
Muhammad Asad those whom the angels have gathered in death while they were still sinning against themselves!" Then will they [who are thus arraigned] proffer their submission, [saying:] "We did not [mean to] do any evil! Al-muntakhab fi tafsir al-Qur'an al-Karim It is these who persist in doing wrong and continue firmly in the state of disbelief in Allah until the encounter with the angels of death who disembody their souls. There and then they express their willingness to submit to Allah and learn at last acceptance of their lot and claim they never did wrong. But the angels say to them: "But you did, and Allah is indeed 'Alimun of all you did". zoom
