afalā yatadabbarūna l-qur'āna am ʿalā qulūbin aqfāluh
Then do not they ponder (over) the Quran or upon (their) hearts (are) locks?
Will they not, then, ponder over this Qur’an? - or are there locks upon their hearts

Is it that they do not think about the Quran or are their hearts sealed
Then, do they not give serious thought to the Qur‘an, or do they have locks on their hearts
Will they not then reflect on the Qur'an, or is it that they have locks on their hearts (which bar them from reason (4:82))
Have they never pondered over this Qur´an? Or do they have locks placed on their hearts
Then, do they not, honestly try to understand the Quran, or are their hearts locked up by them
Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts

Is it that they do not earnestly seek to understand the Qur'an? Rather (their) hearts are securely locked up by their own locks
