It was said to her, "Enter the palace." Then when she saw it, she thought it (was) a pool, and she uncovered [on] her shins. He said, "Indeed, it (is) a palace made smooth of glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed, I [I] have wronged myself, and I submit with Sulaiman to Allah, (the) Lord (of) the worlds."
[After a while] she was told: “Enter this court!” - but when she saw it, she thought that it was a fathomless expanse of water, and she bared her legs. Said he: “Behold, it is [but] a court smoothly paved with glass!” Cried she: “O my Sustainer! I have been sinning against myself thy worshipping aught but Thee]: but [now] I have surrendered myself, with Solomon, unto the Sustainer of all the worlds!”
It was said unto her: Enter the hall. And when she saw it she deemed it a pool and bared her legs. (Solomon) said: Lo! it is a hall, made smooth, of glass. She said: My Lord! Lo! I have wronged myself, and I surrender with Solomon unto Allah, the Lord of the Worlds
She was asked to enter the lofty Palace: but when she saw it, she thought it was a lake of water, and she (tucked up her skirts), uncovering her legs. He said: "This is but a palace paved smooth with slabs of glass." She said: "O my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul: I do (now) submit (in Islam), with Solomon, to the Lord of the Worlds."
Then she was told, “Enter the palace.” But when she saw the hall, she thought it was a body of water, so she bared her legs. Solomon said. “It is just a palace paved with crystal.” ˹At last˺ she declared, “My Lord! I have certainly wronged my soul. Now I ˹fully˺ submit myself along with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of all worlds.”
She was told, "Enter the courtyard." But when she saw it, she thought it was a pool and uncovered her legs. He said, "It is a courtyard paved with smooth glass." She said, "My Lord, I have been wrong [because of my limited knowledge], and I submit with Solomon to God, Lord of the Worlds."
Then she was bidden to enter the palace; but when she saw it, she thought it was a deep pool of water, and bared her legs. But Solomon explained, It is just a palace paved with glass, and she said, My Lord, I have wronged myself: now I submit myself along with Solomon, to God, the Lord of the Universe
It was said to her: Enter the palace; but when she saw it she deemed it to be a great expanse of water, and bared her legs. He said: Surely it is a palace made smooth with glass. She said: My Lord! surely I have been unjust to myself, and I submit with Sulaiman to Allah, the Lord of the worlds
It was said to her: Enter the pavilion. And when she saw it, she assumed it to be a pool and she bared her legs. He said: Truly, it is a smooth, crystal pavilion. She said: My Lord! Truly, I did wrong to myself and I submitted with Solomon to God, the Lord of the worlds.
Someone (else) said to her: "Enter the hall." When she saw it, she reckoned it was a pool [of water] and [tucked up her skirt and) bared the calves of her legs. He said: "It is a hall paved with glass slabs." She said: "My Lord, how I have wronged myself! I commit myself peacefully, along with Solomon, to God, Lord of the Universe!"
It was said to her: “Enter the palace.” (The floor was glass surface with water underneath it). But when she saw it, she thought it was a pool, and she (pulled up her clothes) uncovering her legs. Solomon said: “Surely, it is a palace (with a glass surface and water underneath it) traced smooth with glass.” She said: “My Lord! Surely, I have wronged myself, and I submit (accept Islam) with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.”
It was said unto her, “Enter the pavilion.” But when she saw it, she supposed it to be an expanse of water and bared her legs. He said, “Verily it is a pavilion paved with crystal.” She said, “My Lord! Surely I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to God, Lord of the worlds.
It was said to her: “Enter the palace.” But as she saw it, she assessed it to be a wide expanse of water running in waves and she tucked up (her clothes) off her both calves (so that she may cross it over gracefully). (Sulaiman) said: “Truly, it is a palace (underneath which runs a river, simulating the delights in Paradise) paved smooth with slab of crystal-clear glass. She said: “My Nourisher-Sustainer! Verily, I have wronged myself and I have accepted Islam in the presence of Sulaiman in complete devotion to Allah, the Nourisher-Sustainer to the worlds.”
- Then she was asked to enter the palace. When she saw its floor, she thought that there was pool of water, so she tucked up her skirts uncovering her legs. Solomon said. "This is just a glossy paving of this palace." At this she exclaimed: "O my Lord
It was said to her, 'Go inside the palace.' And when she saw it, she thought it was a deep pond, and she bared her legs. He said, 'It is a palace paved with glass.' She said, 'My Lord, I have done wrong to myself, and I have submitted with Solomon, to God, Lord of the Worlds.'
It was said to her, "Enter the tower." Then as soon as she saw it, she reckoned it a pool, and she uncovered both her shanks. He said, "Surely it is a tower smoothed of crystal." She said, "Lord! Surely I have done injustice to myself, and I (now) surrender (i.e., I am a Muslim) with Sulayman to Allah, The Lord of the worlds."
She was told to enter the palace. When she saw it, she thought that it was a pool and raised her clothe up to her legs. Solomon said, "This is a palace constructed with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself and I submit myself with Solomon to the will of God, the Lord of the Universe."
It was said to her, .Enter the palace. Then once she saw it, she thought it was flowing water, and uncovered her legs. He (Sulaiman) said, .This is a palace made of glasses. She said, .My Lord, I had surely wronged myself, and now I submit, along with Sulaiman, to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds
She was escorted to the palace. It was said, "Enter the hall." When she saw the smooth polished glass floor, she thought that it was a pool of water and she was spellbound. ('Kashafat 'an saqaiha' idiomatically means that she was spellbound, and not that she bared her calves; a common error of many translators. For example, tying one's hand to the neck means miserliness). Solomon said, "This is a palace paved smooth with slabs of glass." She said, "I have been doing wrong to myself, and now I submit with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds." (She realized that following the Divine Laws ensures the best bounties in this life as well. There are some historical accounts that Solomon and Bilqis got married. But the Rabbinical Talmudic traditions propose that they committed adultery then and there, out of which Nimrod Nebuchadnezzar, the tyrant emperor of Babylon was born! That is of course inconceivable of a Prophet of God)
She was invited to enter the palace. When she looked at it, she thought it was a shallow water-filled pool. So, she lifted her skirt uncovering her legs. Sulaiman said, "This palace is really made of polished glass with water running underneath." She cried out, "My Lord, I have been unjust to myself. In the company of Sulaiman, I now surrender to Allah, the Lord of the universe."
She was asked to enter the high palace: but when she saw it, she thought it was a pool (lake) of water, and (pulled up her skirts), showing her legs. He (Sulaiman) said: "This is only a palace smoothly covered with sheets of glass." She said: "O my Lord! Truly, I have wronged my soul: And I submit with Sulaiman (Solomon) to Allah and to the Lord of the Worlds (Rab-ul-'Ala'meen)."
She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah , Lord of the worlds."
It was said to her: "Enter the palace." So when she saw it she thought there was a pool, and she uncovered her legs. He said: "It is a palace paved with crystal." She said: "My Lord, I have wronged myself and I surrender with Solomon to God, the Lord of the worlds."
Then it was said to her, ‘Enter the hall,’ but when she saw it, she thought it was a deep pool of water, and bared her legs. Solomon explained, ‘It is just a hall paved with glass,’ and she said, ‘My Lord, I have wronged myself: I devote myself, with Solomon, to God, the Lord of the Worlds.’
It was said unto her: enter the palace. Then when she saw it, , he deemed it a pool and bared her shanks. He said: verily it is a palace evenly floored with glass. She said: my Lord! verily I wronged my soul, and now submit myself together with Sulaiman unto Allah, the Lord of the Worlds
She was invited to enter the court. When she saw it, she took it for a sheet of water, and (pulling up her skirts) uncovered her legs. (Solomon) told her: "This is paved with tiles of glass." "O Lord," she said, "I have wronged myself, and I submit to the Lord of all the worlds with Solomon."
She was told: ´Enter the courtyard,´ but when she saw it she supposed it to be a pool and bared her legs. He said, ´It is a courtyard paved with glass.´ She said, ´My Lord, I have wronged myself but I have submitted with Sulayman to the Lord of all the worlds.´
It was said (to her): "Enter the palace." When she saw it, she thought it was a pool of water and bared her calves (in order to hold her robes above the water). He (Solomon) said: "This is a palace paved with crystal." (Having now concluded that Solomon must truly be a Prophet,) she said: "My Lord, surely I have wronged myself (by worshipping false gods). But now I submit myself, in Solomon’s company, to God, the Lord of the worlds."
It was said to her, ‘Enter the palace.’ So when she saw it, she supposed it to be a pool of water, and she bared her shanks. He said, ‘It is a palace paved with crystal.’ She said, ‘My Lord! Indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.’
And it was said to her, "Enter the court." And when she saw it, she thought it was a pool, and she bared her legs (tucked up her skirt to go into it). Said he, "Verily, it is a court paved with glass!" Said she, "My Lord! Verily,
She was told: enter the palace. So when she saw it, she thought it is deep water and she exposed her legs (by pulling up her dress). He said: it is a palace paved with glasses/crystals. She said: my Master, indeed I did wrong to myself, and I submit with Solomon to God, Master of humankind
She was asked to enter the lofty palace, but when she saw it, she thought it was a pool of water, and exposed her legs. He said, “This is only a palace paved smooth with glass.” She said, “My Lord, I have indeed wronged my soul, and I submit with Solomon, to the Guardian Evolver of all systems of knowledge.
“Enter the royal chamber,” she was told. When she saw it, she thought it was a pool and so bared her legs to keep her robes dry. Sulayman said, “The chamber is paved with glass.” She said, “My Lord, I have wronged myself, but now I submit with Sulayman to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
She was told: "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a pool of water and she bared both her calves (to enter into it). Solomon said: "This is a slippery floor of crystal." Thereupon she cried out: "My Lord, I have been inflicting much wrong on myself. Now I submit myself with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of the whole Universe."
It was said to her: "Enter the palace." So when she saw it she thought there was a pool, and she uncovered her legs. He said: "It is a palace paved with crystal." She said: "My Lord, I have wronged myself; and I submit with Solomon to God, Lord of the worlds.
She was asked to enter the royal court. And when she saw it, she thought it was a pool of water and bared her legs. Solomon said, "It is but a court paved with glass!" She said, "My Lord! I have indeed committed a wrong against myself. And I have surrendered myself, with Solomon, unto the Lord of all the worlds!"
It was said to her, 'come to the courtyard. Then when she saw it, she thought it a deep water and uncovered shanks. Sulaiman said, 'it is a soft courtyard set with glasses.' The woman said, 'O my Lord I have wronged my soul and now I submit with Sulaiman before Allah Who is the Lord of entire world'.
She was told, "Go inside the palace." When she saw its interior, she thought it was a pool of water, and she (pulled up her dress,) exposing her legs. He said, "This interior is now paved with crystal." She said, "My Lord, I have wronged my soul. I now submit with Solomon to GOD, Lord of the universe."
It was said to her: 'Enter the pavilion. ' And when she saw it, she thought it was a pool of water, and bared her legs. But he said: 'It is a pavilion smoothed with crystal. ' She said: 'My Lord, I have wronged myself, and I become a Muslim (submissive) with Solomon to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.
It was said to her: Enter the palace. But when she saw it she deemed it to be a great expanse of water, and prepared herself to meet the difficulty. He said: Surely it is a palace made smooth with glass. She said: My Lord, surely I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of the worlds
(It) was said to her: "Enter the palace/tower ." So when she saw it, she thought/supposed it (was) a wide body of water , and she removed/uncovered from her two shins/legs, he said: "That it truly is a palace/tower smoothened and spread from clear glass/mirrors ." She said: "My Lord , that I caused injustice/oppression (to) myself, and I submitted/surrendered with Soliman, to God, the creations all together's/(universes') Lord."
Solomon then invited her to enter to her palace. When she saw the interior, she thought it was a pool of water; so she tucked up her skirt to enter it. Solomon said: “It is [not water but is] paved with crystals. This last strike [removed any remaining doubt from her heart and] made her to say: “ O My Lord, I have been unjust to myself; now I join to Solomon in submitting myself to the Lord of the universe.”
It was said to her, “Enter the hall”; and when she saw it she thought it was a pool and bared her shins *; said Sulaiman, “This is only is a smooth hall, affixed with glass”; she said, “My Lord, I have indeed wronged myself, and I now submit myself along with Sulaiman to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation.” (* In order to cross it
It was said to her, `Enter the palace.' And when she saw it, she thought it to be a great expanse of water, and she bared her shanks. Solomon said, `It is a palace paved smooth with slabs of glass.' She said, `My Lord, indeed I have wronged my soul; and I submit myself with Solomon to ALLAH, the Lord of the worlds.
It was said to her (the Queen): ‘Enter the compound of the palace (beneath which were flowing waves of bluish water).’ So when the Queen saw that (elegant, crystal floor), she thought it was a deep pool. And (pulling up her skirt) she uncovered her lower legs. Sulayman (Solomon) said: ‘This is the compound of the palace paved with crystal slabs.’ The Queen submitted: ‘O my Lord, (I was deluded in like manner.) Surely, I wronged my soul. And now along with Sulayman (Solomon), I submit to Allah, Who is the Lord of all the worlds.
It was said to her, `Enter the palace.' And when she saw it she took it for a great expanse of water. She was greatly perturbed. (Solomon) said, `It is a palace paved smooth with slabs of glass.' She (realizing the truth that she worshipped outward objects like the sun in place of Reality, the true God,) said, `My Lord! I have done injustice to myself and (now) I submit myself through Solomon to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
It was said to her: "Enter As-Sarh" ((a glass surface with water underneath it) or a palace), but when she saw it, she thought it was a pool, and she (tucked up her clothes) uncovering her legs, Sulaiman (Solomon) said: "Verily, it is Sarh ((a glass surface with water underneath it) or a palace) paved smooth with slab of glass." She said: "My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, and I submit (in Islam, together with Sulaiman (Solomon), to Allah, the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)."
It was said to her, 'Enter the pavilion.' But when she saw it, she supposed it was a spreading water, and she bared her legs. He said, 'It is a pavilion smoothed of crystal. She said, 'My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I surrender with Solomon to God, the Lord of all Being.
It was said unto her, enter the palace. And when she saw it, she imagined it to be a great water; and she discovered her legs, by lifting up her robe to pass through it. Whereupon Solomon said unto her, verily this is a palace evenly floored with glass. Then said the queen, O Lord, verily I have dealt unjustly with my own soul; and I resign my self, together with Solomon, unto God, the Lord of all creatures
And it was said to her, 'Enter the court;' and when she saw it, she reckoned it to be an abyss of water, and she uncovered her legs. Said he, 'Verily, it is a court paved with glass!' Said she, 'My Lord! verily, I have wronged myself, but I am resigned with Solomon to God the Lord of the worlds!
It was said to her,"Enter the Palace:" and when she saw it, she thought it a lake of water, and bared her legs. He said, "It is a palace paved with glass." She said, "O my Lord! I have sinned against my own soul, and I resign myself, with Solomon, to God the Lord of the Worlds."
She was bidden to enter the palace; and when she saw it she thought it was a pool of water, and bared her legs. But Solomon said: ‘It is a palace paved with glass.‘ ‘Lord,‘ she said, ‘I have sinned against my own soul. Now I submit with Solomon to God, Lord of the Universe
She was asked to enter the palace. When she saw it, she thought it was a pool. She bared her legs [by lifting her dress for walking through water]. He said, “This is merely a palace paved smoothly with glass.” She said, “My Lord, I have indeed been wrong to myself. I do submit, along with Solomon, to the Lord of the Worlds.”
Someone [else] said to her: "Enter the hall." When she saw it, she thought it was a pool [of water] and [tucked up her skirt and) bared the calves of her legs. He said: "It is a hall paved with glass slabs." She said: "My Lord, how I have wronged myself! I submit myself peacefully, along with Solomon, to Allah (God), Lord of the Universe!"
She was told to enter the court. When she saw it, she thought it was a lake of water, and she bared her legs. Said he: 'It is but a court smoothly paved with glass!' She said: '0 my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul, but now I submit myself, with Solomon, to God, the Lord of all the worlds.'
Then she was told, “Enter the palace”... When (Queen Sheba) saw it she thought it was deep water and pulled her skirt up... (Solomon) said, “It’s just a palace made of crystal glass”... (Sheba) said, “My Rabb... I have wronged myself (by worshipping an external force, the Sun) but now I have submitted myself, along with Solomon, to Allah, the Rabb of the worlds!”
It was said to her: �Enter the palace,� but when she saw it she deemed it to be a great expanse of water and bared her legs. (Solomon) said: �Verily this is but a palace smoothed of crystal�. She said: �My Lord! Verily I have been unjust to myself, and I surrender with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds�
As the honoured guest of Sulayman she was invited to enter the palace and as she did she thought the brilliant floor was a lake and she drew up the hem of her clothes, but there she was told that that was not water but a floor paved with slabs of glass. There and then she paused and declared: O Allah my Creator, she said, "I have wronged my own soul and here and as of now I exercise with Sulayman low submissive reverence in Islam for Allah the Creator, of the worlds
It was said to her, “Enter the palace.” So when she saw it, she thought it to be an expanse of water and removed (the covering) from her ankles (to cross it). He (Sulaiman) said, "It is a palace made smooth with glass.” She said, “My Fosterer! I have been unjust to myself and I submit with Sulaiman to Allah, the Fosterer of the worlds."
She was asked to enter the lofty Palace: but when she saw it, she thought it was a lake of water, and she (tucked up her skirts), uncovering her legs. He said: "This is but a palace paved smooth with slabs of glass." She said: "O my Lord! I ha ve indeed wronged my soul: I do (now) submit (in Islam), with Solomon, to the Lord of the Worlds."
It was said to her, "Enter the palace." Then when she saw it, she thought it (was) a pool, and she uncovered [on] her shins. He said, "Indeed, it (is) a palace made smooth of glass."
