| 88:1 | | Has there come to thee the news of the overwhelming calamity |
| 88:2 | | Some faces on that day will be downcast |
| 88:3 | | Toiling, weary |
| 88:4 | | They shall enter a blazing Fire |
| 88:5 | | And will be made to drink from a boiling spring |
| 88:6 | | They will have no food save that of dry, bitter and thorny herbage |
| 88:7 | | Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger |
| 88:8 | | And some faces on that day will be joyful |
| 88:9 | | Well-pleased with their past striving |
| 88:10 | | In a lofty Garden |
| 88:11 | | Wherein thou wilt hear no vain talk |
| 88:12 | | Therein is a running spring |
| 88:13 | | Therein are raised couches |
| 88:14 | | And goblets properly placed |
| 88:15 | | And cushions beautifully ranged in rows |
| 88:16 | | And carpets tastefully spread |
| 88:17 | | Do they not then look at the camels, how they are created |
| 88:18 | | And at the heaven, how it is raised high |
| 88:19 | | And at the mountains, how they are fixed |
| 88:20 | | And at the earth, how it is spread out |
| 88:21 | | Admonish, therefore, for thou art but an admonisher |
| 88:22 | | Thou art not appointed a keeper over them |
| 88:23 | | But whoever turns away and disbelieves |
| 88:24 | | ALLAH will punish him with the greatest punishment |
| 88:25 | | Unto US, surely, is their return |
| 88:26 | | Then, surely, it is for US to call them to account |
