| Arabic | | وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَىٰ نَحْنُ أَبْنَاءُ اللَّهِ وَأَحِبَّاؤُهُ قُلْ فَلِمَ يُعَذِّبُكُم بِذُنُوبِكُم بَلْ أَنتُم بَشَرٌ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَاءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَاءُ وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَإِلَيْهِ الْمَصِير |  |

| And said, | | waqālati | | وَقَالَتِ | | ق و ل | |
| the Jews | | l-yahūdu | | الْيَهُودُ | | ى ه د | |
| and the Christians | | wal-naṣārā | | وَالنَّصَارَى | | ن ص ر | |
| "We (are) | | naḥnu | | نَحْنُ | | ن ح ن | |
| (the) children | | abnāu | | أَبْنَؤُا | | ب ن و | |
| (of) Allah | | l-lahi | | اللَّهِ | | ا ل ه | |
| and His beloved." | | wa-aḥibbāuhu | | وَأَحِبَّاؤُهُ | | ح ب ب | |
| (does He) punish you | | yuʿadhibukum | | يُعَذِّبُكُمْ | | ع ذ ب | |
| for your sins?" | | bidhunūbikum | | بِذُنُوبِكُمْ | | ذ ن ب | |
| human beings | | basharun | | بَشَرٌ | | ب ش ر | |
| from among (those) | | mimman | | مِمَّنْ | | م ن | |
| He created. | | khalaqa | | خَلَقَ | | خ ل ق | |
| He forgives | | yaghfiru | | يَغْفِرُ | | غ ف ر | |
| He wills | | yashāu | | يَشَاءُ | | ش ى ء | |
| and punishes | | wayuʿadhibu | | وَيُعَذِّبُ | | ع ذ ب | |
| He wills. | | yashāu | | يَشَاءُ | | ش ى ء | |
| And for Allah | | walillahi | | وَلِلَّهِ | | ا ل ه | |
| (is the) dominion | | mul'ku | | مُلْكُ | | م ل ك | |
| (of) the heavens | | l-samāwāti | | السَّمَاوَاتِ | | س م و | |
| and the earth | | wal-arḍi | | وَالْأَرْضِ | | ا ر ض | |
| (is) between them, | | baynahumā | | بَيْنَهُمَا | | ب ى ن | |
| and to Him | | wa-ilayhi | | وَإِلَيْهِ | | ا ل ى | |
| (is) the final return. | | l-maṣīru | | الْمَصِيرُ | | ص ى ر | |
