| Arabic | | إِذْ تَمْشِي أُخْتُكَ فَتَقُولُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن يَكْفُلُهُ فَرَجَعْنَاكَ إِلَىٰ أُمِّكَ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا فَنَجَّيْنَاكَ مِنَ الْغَمِّ وَفَتَنَّاكَ فُتُونًا فَلَبِثْتَ سِنِينَ فِي أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ ثُمَّ جِئْتَ عَلَىٰ قَدَرٍ يَا مُوسَى | |

was going | tamshī | تَمْشِي | م ش ى | |
your sister | ukh'tuka | أُخْتُكَ | ا خ و | |
and she said, | fataqūlu | فَتَقُولُ | ق و ل | |
I show you | adullukum | أَدُلُّكُمْ | د ل ل | |
will nurse and rear him?" | yakfuluhu | يَكْفُلُهُ | ك ف ل | |
So We returned you | farajaʿnāka | فَرَجَعْنَاكَ | ر ج ع | |
your mother | ummika | أُمِّكَ | ا م م | |
may be cooled | taqarra | تَقَرَّ | ق ر ر | |
her eyes | ʿaynuhā | عَيْنُهَا | ع ى ن | |
she grieves. | taḥzana | تَحْزَنَ | ح ز ن | |
And you killed | waqatalta | وَقَتَلْتَ | ق ت ل | |
but We saved you | fanajjaynāka | فَنَجَّيْنَاكَ | ن ج و | |
the distress, | l-ghami | الْغَمِّ | غ م م | |
and We tried you | wafatannāka | وَفَتَنَّاكَ | ف ت ن | |
(with) a trial. | futūnan | فُتُونًا | ف ت ن | |
Then you remained | falabith'ta | فَلَبِثْتَ | ل ب ث | |
(some) years | sinīna | سِنِينَ | س ن و | |
(the) people | ahli | أَهْلِ | ا ه ل | |
the decreed (time) | qadarin | قَدَرٍ | ق د ر | |
O Musa! | yāmūsā | يَامُوسَى | م و س | |
