| Arabic | | وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَا مُوسَىٰ لَن نَّصْبِرَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامٍ وَاحِدٍ فَادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخْرِجْ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنبِتُ الْأَرْضُ مِن بَقْلِهَا وَقِثَّائِهَا وَفُومِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَا قَالَ أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ الَّذِي هُوَ أَدْنَىٰ بِالَّذِي هُوَ خَيْرٌ اهْبِطُوا مِصْرًا فَإِنَّ لَكُم مَّا سَأَلْتُمْ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الذِّلَّةُ وَالْمَسْكَنَةُ وَبَاءُوا بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ اللَّهِ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَكْفُرُونَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ النَّبِيِّينَ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا وَّكَانُوا يَعْتَدُون |  |

| "O Musa! | yāmūsā | يَامُوسَى | م و س | |
| we endure | naṣbira | نَصْبِرَ | ص ب ر | |
| (of) one (kind), | wāḥidin | وَاحِدٍ | و ح د | |
| so pray | fa-ud'ʿu | فَادْعُ | د ع و | |
| (to) your Lord | rabbaka | رَبَّكَ | ر ب ب | |
| to bring forth | yukh'rij | يُخْرِجْ | خ ر ج | |
| out of what | mimmā | مِمَّا | م م ا | |
| grows | tunbitu | تُنْبِتُ | ن ب ت | |
| the earth, | l-arḍu | الْأَرْضُ | ا ر ض | |
| its herbs, | baqlihā | بَقْلِهَا | ب ق ل | |
| [and] its cucumbers, | waqithāihā | وَقِثَّائِهَا | ق ث ا | |
| [and] its garlic, | wafūmihā | وَفُومِهَا | ف و م | |
| [and] its lentils, | waʿadasihā | وَعَدَسِهَا | ع د س | |
| and its onions." | wabaṣalihā | وَبَصَلِهَا | ب ص ل | |
| "Would you exchange | atastabdilūna | أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ | ب د ل | |
| that which | alladhī | الَّذِي | ا ل ل ذ ى | |
| (is) inferior | adnā | أَدْنَى | د ن و | |
| for that which | bi-alladhī | بِالَّذِي | ا ل ل ذ ى | |
| (is) better? | khayrun | خَيْرٌ | خ ى ر | |
| Go down | ih'biṭū | اهْبِطُوا | ه ب ط | |
| (to) a city, | miṣ'ran | مِصْرًا | م ص ر | |
| so indeed | fa-inna | فَإِنَّ | ا ن ن | |
| you have asked (for)." | sa-altum | سَأَلْتُمْ | س ا ل | |
| And were struck | waḍuribat | وَضُرِبَتْ | ض ر ب | |
| on them | ʿalayhimu | عَلَيْهِمُ | ع ل ى | |
| the humiliation | l-dhilatu | الذِّلَّةُ | ذ ل ل | |
| and the misery | wal-maskanatu | وَالْمَسْكَنَةُ | س ك ن | |
| and they drew on themselves | wabāū | وَبَاءُو | ب و ء | |
| wrath | bighaḍabin | بِغَضَبٍ | غ ض ب | |
| That (was) | dhālika | ذَلِكَ | ذ ل ك | |
| because they | bi-annahum | بِأَنَّهُمْ | ا ن ن | |
| disbelieve | yakfurūna | يَكْفُرُونَ | ك ف ر | |
| in (the) Signs | biāyāti | بِءَايَاتِ | ا ى ا | |
| (of) Allah | l-lahi | اللَّهِ | ا ل ه | |
| and kill | wayaqtulūna | وَيَقْتُلُونَ | ق ت ل | |
| the Prophets | l-nabiyīna | النَّبِيِّينَ | ن ب ا | |
| without (any) | bighayri | بِغَيْرِ | غ ى ر | |
| [the] right. | l-ḥaqi | الْحَقِّ | ح ق ق | |
| (was) because | bimā | بِمَا | ب م ا | |
| they disobeyed | ʿaṣaw | عَصَوْا | ع ص ى | |
| and they were | wakānū | وَكَانُوا | ك و ن | |
| transgressing. | yaʿtadūna | يَعْتَدُونَ | ع د و | |
