| Arabic | | يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْأَهِلَّةِ قُلْ هِيَ مَوَاقِيتُ لِلنَّاسِ وَالْحَجِّ وَلَيْسَ الْبِرُّ بِأَن تَأْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِن ظُهُورِهَا وَلَٰكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنِ اتَّقَىٰ وَأْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِهَا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُون |  |

| the new moons. | l-ahilati | الْأَهِلَّةِ | ه ل ل | |
| (are) indicators of periods | mawāqītu | مَوَاقِيتُ | و ق ت | |
| for the people, | lilnnāsi | لِلنَّاسِ | ن و س | |
| and (for) the Hajj." | wal-ḥaji | وَالْحَجِّ | ح ج ج | |
| And it is not | walaysa | وَلَيْسَ | ل ى س | |
| [the] righteousness | l-biru | الْبِرُّ | ب ر ر | |
| you come | tatū | تَأْتُوا | ا ت ى | |
| (to) the houses | l-buyūta | الْبُيُوتَ | ب ى ت | |
| their backs, | ẓuhūrihā | ظُهُورِهَا | ظ ه ر | |
| [and] but | walākinna | وَلَكِنَّ | ل ك ن | |
| [the] righteous | l-bira | الْبِرَّ | ب ر ر | |
| fears (Allah). | ittaqā | اتَّقَى | و ق ى | |
| And come | watū | وَأْتُوا | ا ت ى | |
| (to) the houses | l-buyūta | الْبُيُوتَ | ب ى ت | |
| their doors. | abwābihā | أَبْوَابِهَا | ب و ب | |
| And fear | wa-ittaqū | وَاتَّقُوا | و ق ى | |
| so that you may | laʿallakum | لَعَلَّكُمْ | ل ع ل ل | |
| (be) successful. | tuf'liḥūna | تُفْلِحُونَ | ف ل ح | |
