To entertain a guest, that with which a guest is entertained. To collect, run to/into. To explore; investigate; with a much and diligent search, city/town.

6:92
And this (is) a Book, We have revealed it, blessed, confirming which (from) between his hands, so that you may warn (the) mother (of) the cities and who (are) around it. And those who believe in the Hereafter, they believe in it, and they, over their prayers (are) guarding.

And if [that] people (of) the cities (had) believed and feared Allah surely We (would have) opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth but they denied. So We seized them for what they used to earn.

Then did feel secure (the) people (of) the cities that comes to them Our punishment (at) night while they (were) asleep?

Or felt secure (the) people (of) the cities that comes to them Our punishment (in) daylight while they (were) playing?

That (is) from (the) news (of) the cities (which) We relate to you; of them, some are standing and (some) mown.

42:7
And thus We have revealed to you a Quran (in) Arabic, that you may warn (the) mother (of) the towns, and whoever (is) around it, and warn (of the) Day (of) Assembly, (there is) no doubt in it. A party (will be) in Paradise and a party in the Blazing Fire.

What restored Allah to His Messenger from (the) people (of) the towns, (it is) for Allah and His Messenger and for the kindred and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, that not it becomes a (perpetual) circulation between the rich among you. And whatever gives you the Messenger, take it and whatever he forbids you from it, refrain. And fear Allah. Indeed, Allah (is) severe (in) penalty.

And not We sent from before you, but men We revealed to them from (among) (the) people (of) the townships. So have not they traveled in the earth and seen how was (the) end (of) those who (were) from before them? And surely the home (of) the Hereafter (is) best for those who fear Allah. Then will not you use reason?

These (were) the cities - We relate to you of their news. And certainly came to them their Messengers with clear proofs, but not they were to believe in what they (had) denied from before. Thus put a seal Allah on (the) hearts (of) the disbelievers.

And these [the] towns, We destroyed them when they wronged, and We made for their destruction an appointed time.

That (is because) [that] not is your Lord one who destroys the cities for (their) wrongdoing while their people (are) unaware.

And thus (is) the seizure (of) your Lord when He seizes the cities while they (are) doing wrong. Indeed, His seizure (is) painful, (and) severe.

And ask them about the town which was situated (by) the sea, when they transgressed in the (matter of) Sabbath, when came to them their fish (on the) day (of) their Sabbath visibly and (on the) day not they had Sabbath (they did) not come to them. And how many of a township We have destroyed it, while it was doing wrong, so it fell on its roofs, and well abandoned, and castle lofty.

And how many of a township I gave respite to it, while it (was) doing wrong. Then I seized it and to Me (is) the destination.

And thus We placed in every city greatest (of) its criminals, so that they plot therein. And not they plot except against themselves and not they perceive.
