General Root Meaning
To efface or erase a thing, to obliterate/cancel/remove/do away with a thing, to dispell a thing.
   famaḥawnā   (1)

And We have made the night and the day (as) two signs. Then We erased (the) sign (of) the night, and We made (the) sign (of) the day visible, that you may seek bounty from your Lord, and that you may know (the) number (of) the years, and the account. And every thing - We have explained it (in) detail.

   wayamḥu   (1)

Or (do) they say, "He has invented about Allah a lie?" But if willed Allah He would seal [over] your heart. And eliminates Allah the falsehood and establishes the truth by His Words. Indeed, He (is) All-Knowing of what (is in) the breasts.

   yamḥū   (1)

eliminates Allah what He wills, and confirms, and with Him (is) the Mother (of) the Book.
