General Root Meaning
to resolve, determine, decide, propose, carry out a resolution, set one's heart upon, fixed determination.
'Azama (imp. 3rd. m. sing.): resolved.
'Azamta (prf. 2nd. m. sing.): thou had resolved.
'Azamuu (prf. 3rd. m. pl.): they resolved.
Laa Ta'zimuu (prt. neg. m. pl.): do not resolve.
'Azmun (v. n.): resolution, firm determination, consistency.
   l-ʿazmi   (1)

So be patient, as had patience those of determination of the Messengers, and (do) not seek to hasten for them. As if they had, (the) Day they see what they were promised, not remained except an hour of a day. A notification. But will (any) be destroyed except the people - the defiantly disobedient?

   taʿzimū   (1)

And (there is) no blame upon you in what you hint [with it] of marriage proposal [to] the women or you conceal it in yourselves. Knows Allah that you will mention them, [and] but (do) not promise them (widows) secretly except that you say a saying honorable. And (do) not resolve (on) the knot (of) marriage until reaches the prescribed term its end. And know that Allah knows what (is) within yourselves so beware of Him. And know that Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing.

   ʿazama   (1)

(Is) obedience and a word kind. And when (is) determined the matter, then if they had been true (to) Allah, surely, it would have been better for them.

   ʿazmi   (2)

And whoever (is) patient and forgives, indeed, that (is) surely of matters of determination.

You will certainly be tested in your wealth and yourselves. And you will certainly hear from those who were given the Book from before you and from those who associate partners with Allah hurtful things many, and if you are patient and fear (Allah) then indeed, that (is) of the matters (of) determination.

O my son! Establish the prayer and enjoin [with] the right and forbid from the wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, that (is) of the matters (of) determination.

   ʿazman   (1)

And verily We made a covenant with Adam from before, but he forgot; and not We found in him determination.

   ʿazamta   (1)

So because (of) Mercy from Allah you dealt gently with them. And if you had been rude (and) harsh (at) [the] heart, surely they (would have) dispe from around you. Then pardon [from] them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter. Then when you have decided, then put trust on Allah. Indeed, Allah loves the ones who put trust (in Him

   ʿazamū   (1)

And if they resolve (on) [the] divorce - then indeed, Allah (is) All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
