General Root Meaning
to bind, keep back, be intelligent, become wise, understand, pay the blood price for anyone, ascend on the summit of a mountain, use understanding, abstain.
'aqaluu (prf. 3rd. m. pl.): they fully understood.
ya'qilu (imp. 3rd. m. sing.): he understands.
ya'qiluuna (imp. 3rd. m. pl.): who use understanding, who abstain (from evils).
na'qilu (imp. 1st. pl.): we understand, abstain.

3:118
O you who believe[d]! (Do) not take (as) intimates from other than yourselves, not they will spare you (any) ruin. They wish what distresses you. Indeed, (has become) apparent the hatred from their mouths, and what conceals their breasts (is) greater. Certainly We made clear for you the Verses, if you were (to use) reason.

26:28
He said, "Lord (of) the east and the west and whatever (is) between them, if you were (to) reason."

6:32
And not (is) the life (of) the world except a play and amusement; but the home (of) the Hereafter (is) best for those who (are) God conscious. Then not (will) you reason?

2:76
And when they meet those who believe[d], they say, "We have believed." But when meet in private some of them with some (others), they say, "Do you tell them what has Allah to you so that they argue with you therewith before your Lord? Then do (you) not understand?"

12:2
Indeed, We, We have sent it down, (as) a Quran in Arabic so that you may understand.

24:61
Not is on the blind any blame and not on the lame any blame and not on the sick any blame and not on yourselves that you eat from your houses or houses (of) your fathers or houses (of) your mothers or houses (of) your brothers or houses (of) your sisters or houses (of) your paternal uncles or houses (of) your paternal aunts or houses (of) your maternal uncles or houses (of) your maternal aunts or what you possess its keys or your friend. Not is on you any blame that you eat together or separately. But when you enter houses then greet [on] yourselves a greeting from that Allah blessed (and) good. Thus makes clear Allah for you the Verses so that you may understand.

43:3
Indeed, We (have) made it a Quran (in) Arabic so that you may understand.

57:17
Know that Allah gives life (to) the earth after its death. Indeed, We have made clear to you the Signs so that you may understand.

6:151
Say, "Come, I will recite what has prohibited your Lord to you. That (do) not associate with Him anything, and with the parents (be) good, and (do) not kill your children (out) of poverty, We provide for you and for them. And (do) not go near [the] immoralities what (is) apparent of them and what (is) concealed. And (do) not kill the soul which has forbidden Allah except by (legal) right. That (He) has enjoined on you with it, so that you may use reason."

36:62
And indeed, he led astray from you a multitude great. Then did not you use reason?

He (is) the One Who created you from dust, then from a semen-drop, then from a clinging substance, then He brings you out (as) a child; then lets you reach your maturity, then lets you become old - and among you (is he) who dies from before - and lets you reach a term specified, and that you may use reason.

So We said, "Strike him with a part of it." Like this revives Allah the dead, and shows you His Signs, perhaps you may use your intellect.

Thus makes clear Allah for you His Verses so that you may use your intellect.

23:80
And He (is) the One Who gives life and causes death and for Him (is the) alternation (of) the night and the day. Then will not you reason?

Then succeeded from after them successors (who) inherited the Book taking goods (of) this the lower (life) and they say, "It will be forgiven for us." And if comes to them goods similar to it they will take it. Was not taken on them Covenant (of) the Book that not they will say about Allah except the truth while they studied what (is) in it? And whatever you have been given from things, (is) an enjoyment (of the) life (of) the world and its adornment. And what (is) with Allah, (is) better and more lasting. So (will) not you use intellect?

Do you order [the] people [the] righteousness and you forget yourselves, while you [you] recite the Book? Then, will not you use reason?

Say, "If (had) willed Allah, not I (would) have recited it to you, and not He (would) have made known to it Verily, I have stayed among you a lifetime from before it. Then will not you use reason?"

O my people! Not I ask you for it any reward. Not (is) my reward except from the One Who created me. Then will not you use reason?

And not We sent from before you, but men We revealed to them from (among) (the) people (of) the townships. And in the earth are tracks neighboring, and gardens of grapevines and crops and date-palms trees (growing) from a single and not trees (growing) from a single watered with water one; but We cause to exceed some of them over others in the fruit. Indeed, in that surely (are) Signs for a people who use reason.

And He has subjected for you the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, and the stars (are) subjected by His command. Indeed, in that surely (are) signs for a people who use reason.

16:67
And from fruits the date-palm, and the grapes, you take from it intoxicant and a provision good. Indeed, in that (is) surely a Sign for a people who use reason.

And verily, We have left about it a sign, (as) evidence for a people who use reason.

Indeed, in (the) creation (of) the heavens and the earth, and alternation of the night and the day, and the ships which sail in the sea with what benefits [the] people, and what (has) sent down Allah from the sky [of] water, giving life thereby (to) the earth after its death, and dispersing therein [of] every moving creature, and directing (of) the winds and the clouds [the] controlled between the sky and the earth, surely (are) Signs for a people who use their intellect.
