Time to get up, God—get moving. The luckless think they’re Godforsaken. They wonder why the wicked scorn God and get away with it, Why the wicked are so cocksure they’ll never come up for audit.
Why does the wicked man despise God? Why does he say in his heart, “You do not seek justice”?
Why do the wicked renounce God, and say in their hearts, “You will not call us to account”?
How can the wicked despise God and say to themselves, “He will not punish me”?
For what thing stirred the wicked man God to wrath? for he said in his heart, God shall not seek. (And why hath the wicked person made God angry? for he said in his heart, God shall not see this/God shall not care about this.)
The wicked don't respect you. In their hearts they say, “God won't punish us!”
