sicut servus desiderat umbram et sicut mercennarius praestolatur finem operis sui
As a servant earnestly desires the shadow, and as an hireling looks for the reward of his work:
As a servant earnestly desires the shadow, and as a hireling looks for the reward of his work:
As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:
As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:
Like a servant who earnestly desires the shade, And like a hired man who eagerly looks for his wages,
As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as a hireling looketh for the reward of his work,
As a servant that earnestly desireth the shadow, And as a hireling that looketh for his wages:
As a bondman earnestly desireth the shadow, and a hireling expecteth his wages,
As a servant longeth for the shade, as the hireling looketh for the end of his work;
As a servant that earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling that looketh for his wages:
Like a slave who longs for the shadow, and like a hired hand who looks for his wages,
Like a slave, he longs for shade. Like a hired hand, he eagerly looks for his pay.
Like a slave he longs for shade; like a hired man he waits for his pay.
I'm like a servant who longs for the shade, like a hired laborer who is looking for his wages.
Like a servant longing for the evening shadow, and like a hired man looking for his wages,
"As a slave who pants for the shade, And as a hired man who eagerly waits for his wages,
Like a slave longing for the evening shadows, or a hired laborer waiting to be paid,
like a worker who longs for the shade, like a servant waiting to be paid.
As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as a hireling looketh for the reward of his work;
As a servant who earnestly desires the shadow, as a hireling who looks for his wages,
A servant waits for the end of the day so that he can rest. A worker waits for his master to pay him.
As a servant desireth the shadow, And as a hireling expecteth his wage,
Like a servant who desires to be out of the sun, and like a working man who waits for his pay,
As slaves longing for shade, as workers pining for wages,
How he longs for the day to end. How he grinds on to the end of the week and his wages.
Like a slave who sighs for the evening shade and like a laborer who is bent upon his wages,
As a slave who pants for the shade, And as a hired man who eagerly hopes for his wages,
As a slave earnestly desires the shade and as a hireling waits for rest from his work,
Like a slave he longs for shade; like a hired worker he waits for his pay.
As a servant earnestly longs for the shade and the evening shadows, and as a hireling who looks for the reward of his work,
They are like a slave wishing for the evening shadows, like a laborer waiting to be paid.
“Human life is a struggle, isn’t it? It’s a life sentence to hard labor. Like field hands longing for quitting time and working stiffs with nothing to hope for but payday, I’m given a life that meanders and goes nowhere— months of aimlessness, nights of misery! I go to bed and think, ‘How long till I can get up?’ I toss and turn as the night drags on—and I’m fed up! I’m covered with maggots and scabs. My skin gets scaly and hard, then oozes with pus. My days come and go swifter than the click of knitting needles, and then the yarn runs out—an unfinished life!
Like a slave, he longs for shade, or like a day laborer, he waits for his pay.
Like a slave who longs for the shadow, and like laborers who look for their wages,
like a slave longing for cool shade; like a worker waiting to be paid.
As an hart desireth shadow, and as an hired man abideth the end of his work; (Like a servant desireth the shade, and like a hired man waiteth for the end of his work day;)
We are slaves in search of shade; we are laborers longing for our wages.
Like a slave who longs for the shadow, and like a hireling who looks for his wages,
Like a slave who longs for the shadow, and like laborers who look for their wages,
Like a slave who longs for the shadow, and like labourers who look for their wages,
Like a slave we pant for a shadow, await our task like a hired worker.
“As a slave earnestly longs for the shade, And as a hired man eagerly awaits his wages,
Like a slave who longs for the shadow, and like a hired hand who looks for his wages,
Like a slave who longs for the shade, a hireling who waits for wages,
As a slave pants for the shade, And as a hired worker who eagerly waits for his wages,
They are like a ·slave [servant] ·wishing [L panting] for the evening shadows, like a [L hired] laborer waiting to be paid.
Like a slave longing for the shadow, or a hired man waiting for his pay,
Like a slave who longs for the shadow, and like a hireling who looks for his wages,
I’ve been like a slave who longs for the evening shadows to come. I’ve been like a hired worker who is waiting to be paid.
As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:
like a slave longing for shade, like a worker thinking only of his wages.
Like a slave who longs for the shadow, and like labourers who look for their wages,
As an eved earnestly longeth for tzel (shade), and as a sachir waiteth for the wage of his work,
Like a slave, he longs for shade. Like a hired hand, he eagerly looks for his pay.
Like a servant, he longs for the shade, and like a hired worker, he looks for his wages,
They are like a slave looking for cool shade or a hired worker waiting for payday.
Man is like a slave wishing for the evening shadows. Or he is like a hired man who wants his pay.
Like a slave he longs for the shadow, and like a laborer he waits for his wages.
Like a slave longing for the evening shadows, or a hired labourer waiting to be paid,
