"So now, if he doesn't inflict punishment in his anger, then he doesn't keep track of your many transgressions.
And further, when you say that his anger does not punish, and that he does not know transgression!
"And now, because He has not visited in His anger, Nor has He acknowledged transgression well,
and further, that his anger never punishes and he does not take the least notice of wickedness.
You say he does not respond to sinners with anger and is not greatly concerned about wickedness.
But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
But now, because he has not visited in his anger, neither does he greatly regard arrogance.
You also say that God does not become angry with people who do wrong things. You say that he does not punish bad people.
And, now, because there is not, He hath appointed His anger, And He hath not known in great extremity.
And now, because God has not punished in His anger, and does not watch for sin,
And now, here we are. Because God has not been swift to punish in His anger, because He does not concern Himself with great arrogance,
and it is even more false to say that he doesn’t see what is going on. He does bring about justice at last if you will only wait. But do you cry out against him because he does not instantly respond in anger?
But now, because God does not grow angry and punish and because he allows transgressions to go unheeded,
And now, because He has not visited in His anger, Nor has He acknowledged transgression well,
But now, because he has not visited in wrath; nor is it known in great extremity;
But now, because God’s anger does not punish and he does not pay attention to transgression,
But now because God has not [speedily] punished in His anger and seems to be unaware of the wrong and oppression [of which a person is guilty],
that his anger never punishes, and that he doesn’t notice evil.
“When times get bad, people cry out for help. They cry for relief from being kicked around, But never give God a thought when things go well, when God puts spontaneous songs in their hearts, When God sets out the entire creation as a science classroom, using birds and beasts to teach wisdom. People are arrogantly indifferent to God— until, of course, they’re in trouble, and then God is indifferent to them. There’s nothing behind such prayers except panic; the Almighty pays them no mind. So why would he notice you just because you say you’re tired of waiting to be heard, Or waiting for him to get good and angry and do something about the world’s problems?
Besides that, you say that his anger has not demanded an accounting, and that he does not fully understand sin.
And now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not greatly heed transgression,
You think that God does not punish, that he pays little attention to sin.
For now the Lord bringeth not in his strong vengeance, (n)either he vengeth felonies greatly here. (But here and now, the Lord bringeth not in his strong vengeance, nor greatly avengeth felonies;)
Job, you were wrong to say God doesn't punish sin.
And now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not greatly heed transgression,
And now, because his anger does not punish and he does not greatly heed transgression,
And now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not greatly heed transgression,
Even though his anger is now held back, a person doesn’t know it’s only delayed.
“And now, because He has not [quickly] punished in His anger, Nor has He acknowledged transgression and arrogance well [and seems unaware of the wrong of which a person is guilty],
And now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not take much note of transgression,
But now that you have done otherwise, God’s anger punishes, nor does he show much concern over a life.
And now, because He has not avenged His anger, Nor has He acknowledged wrongdoing well,
that his anger never punishes, and that he doesn’t notice evil.
And further, that His anger does not punish and that He does not know transgression?
And now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not greatly heed transgression,
When you say his anger never punishes sin, he won’t hear you. He won’t listen when you say he doesn’t pay any attention to evil.
But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
But now, just because he doesn’t get angry and punish, does it mean he doesn’t know what arrogance is?
And now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not greatly heed transgression,
though ye say His anger does not pakad (visit, punish) anything and that He does not regard wickedness much;
And now you say that his anger doesn’t punish anyone and he isn’t too concerned about evil.
But now, because He has not punished in His anger, nor taken much notice of folly,
“Job thinks that God does not punish evil and that he pays no attention to sin.
He will not listen when you say his anger never punishes and that he doesn’t notice evil.
But now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not acknowledge the transgression at all,
and further, that his anger never punishes and he does not take the least notice of wickedness.
