“I travel East looking for him—I find no one; then West, but not a trace; I go North, but he’s hidden his tracks; then South, but not even a glimpse.

God has been at work in the North and the South, but still I have not seen him.
if I go to the left side, what shall I do? I shall not take (hold of) him (I shall not catch him); if I turn me to the right side, I shall not see him.

When he’s working in the north, I don’t see him there. When he turns to the south, I don’t see him there either.
