But I wrought for My name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.
But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.
But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out.

But I did not want the people of other nations to insult my name. They had seen me bring Israel's people out of Egypt.
And I do [it] for My name's sake, Not to pollute [it] before the eyes of the nations, Before whose eyes I brought them forth.
But I acted for the good of My name. I did what would keep My name clean in the eyes of the nations who saw Me bring them out of Egypt.
For the sake of My good name and reputation, however, I chose not to profane My name in the eyes of those nations who had witnessed Me bringing the Israelites out of Egypt.
“But again I refrained in order to protect the honor of my name, lest the nations who saw me bring them out of Egypt would say that it was because I couldn’t care for them that I destroyed them.
But I acted for the sake of my name so that it would not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose presence I had brought them out.

“‘But Israel rebelled against me in the desert. They didn’t follow my statutes. They despised my laws for living well and obediently in the ways I had set out. And they totally desecrated my holy Sabbaths. I seriously considered unleashing my anger on them right there in the desert. But I thought better of it and acted out of who I was, not by what I felt, so that I might be honored and not blasphemed by the nations who had seen me bring them out. But I did lift my hand in a solemn oath there in the desert and promise them that I would not bring them into the country flowing with milk and honey that I had chosen for them, that jewel among all lands. I canceled my promise because they despised my laws for living obediently, wouldn’t follow my statutes, and went ahead and desecrated my holy Sabbaths. They preferred living by their no-god idols. But I didn’t go all the way: I didn’t wipe them out, didn’t finish them off in the desert.
I acted for the sake of my name, so that it would not be profaned in the sight of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out from Egypt.
But I acted for the sake of my name, so that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out.
But I did not, since that would have brought dishonor to my name among the nations which had seen me lead Israel out of Egypt.
and I did for my name, lest it were defouled before heathen men, from whom I casted them out in the sight of those. (and I did it for the sake of my name, lest it were defiled before the heathen, from whom I brought them out in their sight.)
But that would have disgraced me, because many other nations had seen me bring the Israelites out of Egypt.
But I acted for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out.
