But if your eye be evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness!

However, if your eyes are diseased, your whole body will be in darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great will that darkness be!

“Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a musty cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have!

But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

but if · your eye is evil, your whole · body will be filled with darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

but if your eye is unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

but if your eyes are no good, your body will be in darkness. So if the light in you is darkness, how terribly dark it will be!

but if thine eye be wayward, all thy body shall be dark[-full]. If then the light that is in thee be darknesses, how great shall those darknesses be? [but if thine eye be wayward, all thy body shall be dark-full. Therefore if the light that is in thee be darkness, how great shall those darknesses be?]

But if your eye is evil, your whole body is in the dark. So, if the light within you turns out to be darkness, darkness doesn’t come any darker than that.

But when your eyes are bad, everything is dark. If the light inside you is dark, you surely are in the dark.

but if your eye is not sound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

“The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If all the light you have is darkness, it is dark indeed!”

But suppose your eyes can’t see well. Then your whole body will be full of darkness. If the light inside you is darkness, then it is very dark!

but if you have an ‘evil eye’ [if you are stingy] your whole body will be full of darkness. If, then, the light in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be dark. Therefore if the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
