The judge ignored her for a while, but eventually she got on his nerves. “‘I fear neither God nor man,’ he said to himself, ‘but this woman bothers me. I’m going to see that she gets justice, for she is wearing me out with her constant coming!’”

But because this widow won’t quit badgering me, I’d better do something and see that she gets justice—otherwise I’m going to end up beaten black-and-blue by her pounding.’”

I will help this widow because she keeps on bothering me. If I don't help her, she will wear me out.”

“Once upon a time,” he said, “there was a magistrate in a town who had neither fear of God nor respect for his fellow-men. There was a widow in the town who kept coming to him, saying, ‘Please protect me from the man who is trying to ruin me.’ And for a long time he refused. But later he said to himself, ‘Although I don’t fear God and have no respect for men, yet this woman is such a nuisance that I shall give judgment in her favour, or else her continual visits will be the death of me!’”

Yet because this almanah (widow) causes me tzoros and is such a nudzh (pest), I will grant yashrus (justice) to her, lest in the end she may wear me out by her constant coming.
I’ll have to give her justice. Otherwise, she’ll keep coming to me until she wears me out.’”

But this woman is bothering me. If I give her what she wants, then she will leave me alone. But if I don’t give her what she wants, she will bother me until I am sick.’”
But this widow is bothering me. I will see that she gets her rights, or she will bother me until I am worn out!’”
yet because this widow is causing trouble for me, I will grant her justice, so that she does not wear me down in the end by her coming back!’”
yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!”’
yet because of this widow’s causing me trouble, I will avenge her— in order that she, while continually coming, may not be wearing me out’”.
