15:1  We who are strong have an obligation · to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
15:2  Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
15:3  · For · Christ did not please himself; but as it is written, “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”
15:4  For whatever was written at an earlier time was written for · our instruction, that through · endurance and through the encouragement of the scriptures we might have · hope.
15:5  May the · God of endurance and · encouragement enable you to live in harmony with one another, according to Christ Jesus,
15:6  so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15:7  Therefore accept one another even as Christ has also · accepted you, for the glory of God.
15:8  For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised on behalf of the truth of God, in order to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs,
15:9  and that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. · As it is written, “For this reason I will acknowledge you among the Gentiles and sing praises to your name.”
15:10  And again it says, “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with · his people.”
15:11  And again, “Praise the Lord all you Gentiles, and let all the nations extol him.”
15:12  And again Isaiah says, “The root of Jesse will come, even he who rises to rule over the Gentiles; in him will the Gentiles hope.”
15:13  Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in · believing, so that you may abound in · hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
15:14  I myself am convinced about you, · my brethren, · that · you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all · knowledge, and able also to instruct one another.
15:15  Nevertheless on certain subjects I have written to you rather boldly so as to refresh your memory, because of the grace that was given me by · God
15:16  to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving the gospel of God as a priest, so that my offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
15:17  In Christ Jesus, then, I have · reason to boast of my work for · God.
15:18  For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in bringing the Gentiles to obedience, by word and deed,
15:19  by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem · all the way around to · Illyricum I have fulfilled my ministry of proclaiming the gospel of Christ.
15:20  And thus I have always made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was known, lest I should build on someone else’s foundation;
15:21  rather, as it is written, “Those who were not told of him will see, and those who have not heard of him will understand.”
15:22  This is why · on so many occasions I was kept from · coming to you;
15:23  but now I no longer have a reason for remaining in · these regions, and for many years I have desired to come to visit you.
15:24  When I do go to · Spain, I hope to see you as I pass through and be helped on my way there by you, after I have enjoyed your company for a while.
15:25  But for now, I am going to Jerusalem in a service for the saints.
15:26  For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution to the poor among the saints · in Jerusalem.
15:27  They were pleased to do so, in fact, they are obligated to them; for if the Gentiles have come to share in · their spiritual blessings, they ought also to be of service to them in · material things.
15:28  Therefore, when I have completed this task and have delivered to them · what was raised, I will leave for Spain by way of you.
15:29  And I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fulness of the blessing of Christ.
15:30  Now I urge you, brethren, by · our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in · fervent prayer to God on my behalf, ·
15:31  that I may be delivered from those in Judea who refuse to believe, · and that · my service · to Jerusalem may prove truly acceptable to the saints,
15:32  so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company.
15:33  Now may the God of peace be with all of you. Amen.
