10:1  Brethren, · my heart’s desire · and · prayer to · God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.
10:2  For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
10:3  For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish · their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. ·
10:4  For Christ is the end of the law, so now there is righteousness for everyone who believes.
10:5  For Moses writes regarding the righteousness that is based on the law, “The person committed to these things must live by them.”
10:6  But the righteousness based on faith says, “Do not say in · your heart, ‘Who will ascend into · heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down),
10:7  or, ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).”
10:8  But what does it say? “The word is near you, in · your mouth and in · your heart,” that is, the word of faith that we proclaim:
10:9  that if you confess with · your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in · your heart that · God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10:10  For with the heart a person believes and is made righteous, and with the mouth he confesses and is saved.
10:11  For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”
10:12  For there is no distinction between the Jew and the Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, giving generously to all who call on him;
10:13  for “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
10:14  But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear unless someone proclaims the message?
10:15  And how are they to proclaim the message unless they are sent? As it is written, “How timely are the feet of those who preach · good news!”
10:16  However, not all of them have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed · our message?”
10:17  So · faith comes from hearing the message, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.
10:18  But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, for, “Their voice has gone out to all the earth, · and their words to the ends of the world.” ·
10:19  But I ask, did Israel not understand? First of all, Moses says, “I will make you jealous by those who are not a nation; by a nation void of understanding I will make you angry.”
10:20  Then Isaiah very boldly · says, “I was found by those who were not looking for me; I became well known to those who were not asking for me.”
10:21  But concerning · Israel he says, “All · day long I have held out · my hands to a disobedient and argumentative people.”
