3:1 · “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: The one who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars has this to say: I know your · deeds; that you have a reputation that you are alive, but you are dead.
3:2 Wake up and strengthen the things that remain, which are about to die; for I have not found your · works fully completed in the sight of my God.
3:3 Remember, then, what you received and heard; · obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.
3:4 But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled · their garments, and they will walk with me in white, for they are worthy.
3:5 The one who conquers will, in this way, be dressed in white clothing, and I will never erase · his name from the Book of Life, but will acknowledge · his name before · my Father and before · his angels.
3:6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.
3:7 · “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: The one who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one can shut, who shuts and no one can open, has this to say:
3:8 I know your · works. Look, I have placed before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my · word and have not denied · my name.
3:9 Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who claim to be Jews and are not, but lie—I will make them come and bow down before · your feet and understand that I have loved you.
3:10 Because you have kept · my word about patient endurance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing that is coming upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth.
3:11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one can take away · your crown.
3:12 The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God and he will never go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God (the new Jerusalem which comes down out of · heaven from · my God), and · my own new name. ·
3:13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.
3:14 · “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, · the Beginning of God’s creation, · has this to say:
3:15 I know your · works, that you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot!
3:16 So because you are lukewarm, · neither hot nor cold, I am about to vomit you out of · my mouth!
3:17 Because you say, ‘I am rich and have prospered; · I need nothing,’ but do not realize that you are · wretched, · miserable, · poor, · blind, and naked,
3:18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire so you can be rich; and white garments to clothe yourself so your shameful nakedness will not be exposed; · · and salve to put on · your eyes so you can see!
3:19 As many as I love, I reprove and discipline; so be earnest and repent.
3:20 Take note! I am standing at the door and knocking. If anyone hears · my voice and opens the door, · I will enter his house and eat with him, and he with me.
3:21 As for the one who conquers, to him I will give the right to sit with me on · my throne, as I also conquered and sat with · my Father on · his throne.
3:22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.”
