28:1  Now after the Sabbath, toward daybreak of the first day of the week, Mary · Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.
28:2  And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled away the stone and sat on it.
28:3  His appearance was · · like lightning and · his clothing white as snow.
28:4  And for · fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.
28:5  But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
28:6  He is not here, for he has been raised, just as he said. Come, see the place where he was lying.
28:7  · Go quickly and tell · his disciples that he has been raised from the dead and is going ahead of you to · Galilee. You will see him there. Remember, I have told you.”
28:8  So they left the tomb at once, with fear and great joy, and ran to break the news to his disciples.
28:9  Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Good morning!” And they came to him, took hold of his · feet, and worshipped him.
28:10  Then Jesus said to them, · “Do not be afraid. Go, tell · my brothers to depart for · Galilee, and they will see me there.”
28:11  While they were on their way, · some of the guard went into the city and reported to the ruling priests everything that had taken place.
28:12  And when the priests had met with the elders and worked out a plan, they gave a considerable sum of money to the soldiers
28:13  and told them, “You are to say, · ‘His disciples came by night and stole his body while we were sleeping.’
28:14  And if this should come to the governor’s ears, we will bribe him and keep you out of trouble.”
28:15  So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story has been circulated · among Jews to this very day.
28:16  So the eleven disciples went to · Galilee to the mountain where Jesus had told them · to go.
28:17  And when they saw him, they worshiped him, but some hesitated.
28:18  And Jesus came · and spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on · earth has been given to me.
28:19  Therefore go and make disciples of all · nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
28:20  teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you all the days, to the end of the age.”
