1:1  Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, to those who are called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ:
1:2  May mercy, peace, and love be yours · in ever increasing measure.
1:3  Dear friends, although I was eager to write to you about · our common salvation, nevertheless I find it necessary to write and encourage you to carry on the struggle for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
1:4  For certain men have stolen in unawares—men who long ago were designated for this · condemnation—ungodly men who turn the grace of our God into an excuse for blatant immorality, and · deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
1:5  Now I want to remind you, though you once knew all this, that the Lord, having saved his people out of Egypt, · afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
1:6  And the angels who did not stay within · their own domain but abandoned their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains in utter darkness for the judgment of the great day.
1:7  Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring towns, which indulged in sexual immorality in the same way as the angels and pursued unnatural desire, are exhibited as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.
1:8  Yet in the same way these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, · and blaspheme the glorious ones.
1:9  · But when Michael the archangel, in debate with the devil, was arguing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to condemn him for blasphemy, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”
1:10  But these people blaspheme whatever they do not understand, and what they do understand by instinct as · irrational beasts, by these they are being destroyed.
1:11  Woe to them! For they take the way of Cain, and abandon themselves to the error of Balaam for the sake of gain, and perish in the rebellion of Korah.
1:12  These people are · blemishes on · your love-feasts, feasting with you without reverence, caring only for themselves. They are waterless clouds, swept along by winds; autumn trees without fruit and uprooted—completely dead;
1:13  wild waves of the sea, casting up · their shameful deeds like foam; wandering stars for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved for eternity.
1:14  · It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh in descent from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones
1:15  to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all · their ungodly acts that they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”
1:16  These people are grumblers, malcontents who follow · their sinful desires; · · their speech is arrogant, they flatter others to gain advantage.
1:17  But you, dear friends, must remember the predictions · foretold by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1:18  how they said to you, “In the final · age there will be scoffers driven by · their own ungodly desires.” ·
1:19  These are the ones causing division, worldly-minded, and devoid of the Spirit.
1:20  But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.
1:21  Keep yourselves in the love of God as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant you eternal life.
1:22  And have mercy on some who are wavering;
1:23  save others by snatching them out of the fire; and have mercy on others with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.
1:24  Now to the one who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in his glorious presence · without blame and with great joy—
1:25  to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ · our Lord, belong glory, majesty, power, and authority, before all · time, · now and for all · time. Amen.
