| 88:1 | | Have you heard the story of the overwhelming calamity? |
| 88:2 | | Some faces that day will be humiliated. |
| 88:3 | | [They will be] sullen and tired. |
| 88:4 | | [That will be] while they enter the blazing fire. |
| 88:5 | | [That will be] while they are given to drink from a boiling spring. |
| 88:6 | | There will be no food for them except a bitter, thorny plant. |
| 88:7 | | It will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. |
| 88:8 | | Some faces that day will be joyful. |
| 88:9 | | [They will be] pleased with their striving. |
| 88:10 | | [They will be] in a garden on high. |
| 88:11 | | They will hear no foolish talk. |
| 88:12 | | In it will be a bubbling spring. |
| 88:13 | | In it will be thrones raised high. |
| 88:14 | | [There will be] placed goblets. |
| 88:15 | | [There will be] cushions set in rows. |
| 88:16 | | Rich carpets will be laid. |
| 88:17 | | Do they not observe the camels and how they are made? |
| 88:18 | | [Do they not observe] the sky and how it is raised high? |
| 88:19 | | [Do they not observe] the mountains and how they are firmly fixed? |
| 88:20 | | [Do they not observe] the earth and how it is spread? |
| 88:21 | | Give advisement, for you are one to advise. |
| 88:22 | | You can’t control them. |
| 88:23 | | If anyone turns away and rejects faith,… |
